Thorough Cleaning Thursday....

Good Morning Everyone! Today is House Cleaning Day in our household and we need it badly!!!!! Jim's going to give me a hand and we shall do it top to bottom.

Our dinner was awesome last night. JIm barbecued the steak to perfection and the lobster tails were SO sweet. The bubbly we had was lovely.

Benjamin is in Hanoi now and is presently looking for somewhere to eat dinner.

I think Jim and I are going to have Fish tacos for dinner this evening. I picked up some haddock yesterday.

Light freezing rain at the moment and -1C/30F.

Laurie, I think I've seen the cards at Costco before but never really paid attention. Giving a box as a teacher's gift is a great idea. And most definitely, Hallmark cards and such go for at least $8/ea now. It's nuts. Cool on the Fire Cider. I've never heard of that so I googled it and it looks super cool. Horseradish, Habanero pepper, garlic and turmeric in it. What an awesome salad dressing it would make eh? Enjoy your dinner out on Saturday night.

    Wishing everyone a great day.

    Good Morning!
The pic of your dinner last night looked amazing as well, Janet! Nice that Jim is going to help with the cleaning today. I don't think we have freezing rain yet but I haven't looked out for an hour or so.

We had pot roast last night as per Den's request so we will have that again tonight. Den did end up getting his mouth frozen for the filling but everything went well. Now he is back at laying the floor. In answer to your question, Linda the two storage rooms adjoin each other so the tiles are the same as the freezer room. He is doing a good job. I am not doing too much today just puttering around the house.

    Wishing everyone a great day!

Good Morning Everyone. It's a bright sun shiny day here and expected too to be a warm one.

LD had a haircut appointment this morning so we were up and out of the house early. He looks good and I know he feels good too. Will probably go out for dinner tonight. I'm tired of the same ole same ole so hoping I can enticed DH to try something new.

My least favorite day is house cleaning day Janet (LOL!) but until I win the lottery I see many of those days in my future. Awesome your dinner turned out well last night.
Now that I know how to cook tails I enjoy them too with a side of garlic butter. Looking forward to hearing about Hanoi later.

I too had to look up Fire Cider too and it looks great! There are even recipes for it. It's suppose to be wonderful for your health.

Love pot roast Joce. I need to find a good roast and get one going in the crockpot soon. That's good all went well with Den's dental work and he's back in business today. Did you have much to toss now that you are working on the other storage room?

That's great you have an April trip planned Karen. Where will your venture take you?

Ouch on Benny's root canal Kimmer. Hope he feel better soon. Softer foods I'm sure are appreciated.

I could do without house cleaning myself Linda, but I do love the result when it's all finished. And I've never ever wanted to hire a cleaning person. It gives me the willies in the lack of privacy department. My Mom loves Pea soup.

I do too love a clean organized house. I've never hired a cleaning person for a few reason ... #1 Trust that things won't go missing. #2 They don't do as good or as thorough as a job. #3 Privacy. #4 Care and respect for my belongs.

Morning!! Good luck house cleaning Janet, it's not fun but worth it when your all done. Yum on steak and lobster, I think that's what we had last year on Valentine's Day :) Fish tacos sound amazing, I think I have a red snapper in my freezer, doing that next week now!

Hi Joce, pot roast sounds perfect for tonight. I've never heard of getting your mouth frozen to get dental work?!

Good luck getting the DH to try something new for dinner Linda, let us know where you end up! My MIL always complained about her cleaning ladies. She went through multiple companies and always said they didn't do as good of a job as she'd like.

Got the truck washed, cleaned out and vacuumed. I figure if I'm going to be hauling around Bri's friends tomorrow night for her party, it should be clean. It's supposed to rain this weekend, but it is always raining, so I just did it lol. We have a super busy evening tonight with Softball, so I am going ahead and making dinner now and we can heat it up either before or after. Baked Asian chicken thighs
    http://www.geniuskitchen.com/recipe/asian-chicken-thighs-446902
roasted baby potatoes and some sort of veggie. Probably zucchini if they are still good. Have a great day everyone!!!

I agree with the privacy thing hiring a cleaning person but some people are very reliable and honest and do a good job. Many of my neighbours have good people they have had for years and when you can't do it yourself anymore it is nice to be able to stay in your own home as long as you can when you get old.

It isn't really a frozen mouth, Michelle. It is a shot of Novacane to dull the pain while having dental work done like for drilling and such. Maybe if you have never had a cavity you would never know I guess. Sounds like you will be very busy for the next few days.

That's a big job cleaning out the truck I'm sure Michelle. Have fun at softball. Have you made that Asian chicken recipe before? It looks very good. Let me know how you like it.

Indeed Joce....perhaps when I'm old and can't do the house cleaning properly I will hire someone. I know people as well who have had the same housekeeper for eons. Some funny stories too at the same time, but nothing bad :) I wish I had never heard of dental freezing. LOL. :)

We're making good progress. Jim is great. He does the things I don''t on a regular basis, like cleaning underneath the sectional and cleaning and conditioning the wood trim, furniture legs, bookcases, etc. It goes a lot faster with two. He's about to go vacuum the basement in a bit. I put some Italian Wedding soup on for lunch that I had in the freezer.

I threw out all the cedar and pine boughs I'd decorated with inside as they are dry now and starting to fall apart. Changed up the dining room table centrepiece, etc. I'm feeling very productive. :)

Oh thank heavens we're done the house cleaning. Ugh. That was a big one. Feels and looks great now though.

When Jim went outside first thing this morning to empty the composting bucket, he put one foot down on the interlock outside the second entrance and he totally lost grip. The interlock didn't look icy but it was glare ice, a thin skim.....there was asparagus and carrot peelings everywhere and a dampened ego on the husband. :) I've got to remember to pick up some ice melting salt tomorrow at the hardware store. I don't like to use it, but some times it's just best.

Good afternoon and hello to all. I need to do some major housecleaning myself. Will do some of that this weekend. Have to say I haven't since before decorating for Christmas, lol. Other than of course, cleaning bathrooms, vacuuming and the normal stuff that needs done each week. But recently noticed my china cabinet in the dining room and my corner hutch in the breakfast nook are in dire need of attention. My house doesn't usually get too dirty, dust wise, until I have windows open all the time. Which I have had. Want to steam clean my floors too. That is usually hubs job but I will do it this time. : ) Have fun at softball Michelle. Good for you for having dinner done ahead of time! That recipe does look good!

Going out for a bite tonight too. Didn't want to go out last night for Valentines as it's just to "Peoplely" in restaurants on that night so will tonight. Plus we just like going out on Thursday nights too, as opposed to the weekend, for the same "Peoplely" reason, lol. Going to one of our favorites, The Living Room. https://thelivingroomonmain.com/#eat-together Haven't been since I think a couple weeks before Christmas. They are kind of pricey but sooooo worth it. The food is amazing! They have the best crab cakes I think I have ever had so that just might be my entree.

    Hope all enjoy their evening.

Hi Kimmer! Enjoy your dinner out. LOL @ 'peoplely'. That's very apt. :) The Living Room looks amazing. Jim and I would love that place. I'm going to start with the CHARRED TOMATO BISQUE WITH SMOKED GOUDA. The ADRIATIC FIG FLATBREAD
balsamic braised Adriatic figs, dolce gorgonzola, Spanish serrano ham, baby arugula, lemon vinaigrette, naan bread sounds amazing as does the WAYGU BEEF SLIDERS
Two Waygu burgers, caramelized onions, brie cheese, horseradish caper sauce, mini brioche rolls, tempura sweet potato fries. The crab cakes do look most tantalizing and they also have some lovely Salmon tacos. Also intrigued by the
    TRUFFLED SHORT RIB NACHOS
truffled white cheddar, mozzarella, gorgonzola fondue, roasted mushrooms, charred tomatoes, applewood bacon, port wine reduction, baby arugula. Okay....now I'm hungry. :)

Lol, I have had all of those Janet with the exception of the Truffled Short Rib NACHOS. Those are new, I believe, since the last time we were there. The Waygu Beef Sliders are one of my favs. And the tomato bisque is absolutely aaaamazing! Had the crab cakes tonight as suspected, also with the stuffed portobello mushroom. DEELIGHTFUL! So stuffed now, lol!

    Sleep Sweet All.............as always...............

NOM Kimmer! I really like that Restaurant's menu.

Our fish tacos were quite yummy although we tried out that new Lime Hot sauce I recently bought and Holy Haberno it's HOT! I warned Jim but I think he was still too liberal with his pour. :)

Watching our Sens Hockey team lose as usual. Sigh.
