Throw things in Thursday.....

Good Morning Everyone! Today is Packing Day. Jim got the big things in the car yesterday, a wooden kitchen chair, an Ikea chair and foot stool, 2 un-assembled Adirondack chairs, his chain saw and a microwave. LOL. Now just cross your fingers for me that there is room for 2 suitcases, a bag of kitchen stuff and whatever else I throw together today! :)

It is sunny out and going to be a high of 6C/27F. I ran out of mayo and have to run out to grab some so I can make Egg salad sandwiches for our lunch in the car tomorrow. :)

I have some chicken thighs down in the freezer and think I will just make some Shake n' Bake Chicken with Shake n' Bake Potato Balls and spinach for dinner this evening.

Wishing everyone a lovely day! What's everybody's plans?

    Good morning.

The trip back will be roomier for sure. LOL! We are low on mayo also - really must get some. Maybe Wayne can pick some up on his way home from chiro. We use a lot!

Glad you posted -- the only new thing going on this morning is mouse trap success. The trap under the grandfather clock caught one. Yay! I don't like them trying to sneak into the house. It had flipped the trap out from under the clock, and Mauser was investigating when I discovered it. Wayne disposed of the deceased rodent. My work is done.

Wayne is on the way to the chiropractor. Hope it helps. If not we may have to see about getting another opinion. The chemo fatigue and low rbc count leaves me of no help - my total walking distance is from the bedroom to the living room / kitchen - no way I can make it to the barn. We refer to ourselves as the crippled couple! This too shall pass.

Fritz is watching for Wayne's buddy to come and walk him. I can take him outside but just to the front yard, so he looks forward to a long walk (a mile at least) with the guys. I see he has arrived so will be back later.

    Good Morning Everyone.

No particular plans here today. It's going to be another beautiful day and I would like to get out with LD and do something if it doesn't get too warm. No clue about dinner just yet but I would like to do something with a pork loin that I haven't done for IMI2s challenge this month. I'll see if I can find something that appeals to both DH and I.

I made homemade toothpaste yesterday and I'm pretty happy with it. It's a mixture of coconut oil, Food Grade Bentonite Clay Powder, activated charcoal, peppermint essential oil, and a smidge of stevia. I use non-fluoride toothpaste and thought it would be fun to make my own. Of course DH thinks I'm nuts because it's black but it really does whiten my teeth. I had been buying a brand with charcoal.

Good luck today Janet packing and getting everything ready for your trip. I'm sure your birds and wildlife friends are going to miss you while you are gone.

SP Karen. Happy to hear another mouse has been caught. That is nice that Wayne's buddy is helping with the animals. I'm sure Fritz appreciates the long walk. How long do you think the extreme tiredness will last?

Pork loin sounds great, Linda. I tried a brand of charcoal toothpaste but the black just turned me off. It is much better for you than commercial - I use Tom's non-flouride type. It is available at WalMart - sometimes a bit tricky to locate but I really prefer it, esp. since it doesn't have flouride.

The tiredness is probably going to be around for a while - from what I have read, it takes several months to start feeling better. Should be starting to at least not get worse in another week or so, since there are no more chemo's to go through. I feel good that it was so mild a reaction....considering my age, it seems like an aggressive treatment. I will have to start looking into losing the nasty weight that all those steroids packed on.....grrr!

Had my first cup of coffee and a Kind Bar (small, dark chocolate covered, peanuts) for breakfast. May get a second cup of coffee. The Keurig is waiting.

I've used Tom's and Jason brands and like them both. The charcoal paste I used and liked is Hello brands.
It seems it takes so little time for the body to get out of 'kilter' and then a long time to restore it no matter what it is. I've read how to increase red blood cells naturally and the best most absorbable way is thru animal proteins and dairy. I really think once the steroids are out of your system the weight loss will follow. Plus the weather is getting nice and when your energy level returns you'll be out more and moving around more.
Costco sells their own brand of the Kind Bar you described and it is my favorite. I buy it sometimes but it takes me some time to work my way thru the huge box.

Your description of how to restore iron / rbc levels is right on point. The oncologist's p.a. advised to eat as well as possible. As soon as my digestive system recovers, I will have raw spinach salad with strawberries to make absorbing plant iron easier, lean meats, green veggiese. Right now it is watch the fat content of the meat (i.e. forget burgers), and eat whatever my system tolerates. Really tickled me, she said if it gets to the point where all I can stand is a twinkie, go ahead and eat the twinkie -- it is better to get something in your body than nothing. So far I have not purchased twinkies! Pasta or mashed potatoes seem to do well, providing the serving size of potatoes is not huge. I may do a pork roast in the crock pot with carrots and potatoes one of these days.

Computer went down just before breakfast which annoyed me as I'm trying to organize stuff and message people about our comings and goings. :)

I've cleaned out the fridge and got one tote full of kitchen foodstuffs packed. Next is my luggage. Jim is working on the deck. We're having a great birding morning. Had cardinals at the feeder earlier and now a large flock of Evening Grosbeaks which are a lot rarer lately. It's been a good year for them but I've only seen them a handful of times this winter.

Good you caught another mouse Karen. Sounds like you're getting the food thing figured out and what you can handle and can't. You've done so well. I really admire your fortitude. I've never heard of a Kind bar before.

Fun on making your own toothpaste Linda. That is amusing that it's black. LOL. I'm going to miss my birds and critters too. Which reminds me....I want to pack a bag of sunflower seed to bring along to fill the feeder at the Rainy River house while we're there. :)

HI Janet. Our internet went out for a few minutes just as I went to log on. So if I disappear that is what happened. Very annoying. Have a great time at Rainy River.

Groceries are put away - Fritz was fed but is not too interested. Inside cats are outside. Mel is on one of the porch posts checking out his kingdom. AC is sniffing industriously where Newcat had been sleeping. Trouble is unseen so probably just being a cat. IF Newcat shows up Trouble will be quite unhappy, AC will show off his prowess, and Mel will glare at him.

It is still 72 F, very windy and temperature is supposed to drop. Friday's high is only in the 50's F. We hear a back-up signal but Wayne didn't see any equipment on his way down the lane. Maybe connected to the internet problem?

That is three mice in one week, two of which made it into the house and one on the basement steps.. Hmm. Cats are not living up to their contract.

Hope both yours and my internet holds Karen!

Jim finished repairing the deck and it looks good as new although it could use a quick coat of stain. That's not going to happen today. LOL. I'm all packed. Dinner is prepped. Jim has faded and it's awfully quiet. Wonder what he is up to? :)

Got a message from Benjamin. We're going to try do a Video call with him Sunday morning. He got another raise as he's been at this school for two years and Myrna is coming to spend the weekend so he says 'Life is Good'. LOL. :)

We are having an ant infestation in our family room. Hope they haven't taken over by the time we get home. I went through my pantry and made sure all the food things were in sealed jars so they don't have anything to eat. I'll put out some poison and mention it to our house sitter to keep an eye out.
