Thursday Send off

Well, Olivia and Scotty are flying to South Bend as I type. They are carefully carrying three mini Publix cakes in their carry on bags for family tasting later today. I called TSA at Clearwater airport to double check the cakes would be allowed. Red velvet with chocolate strawberry filling, marble cake with Italian Rum filling, chocolate cake with hazelnut cream filling. My teeth ache.

I am going back to bed. Dogs smell clean and fur is silky. Perfect for cuddling. Getting Olivia and Scotty out the door was too much early am excitement. Lol. I'm old.

Dinner is a frozen burrito, topped with green Chile sauce and cheese. Black Olive and sour cream garnish. Easy for one.

Throwback Thursday, way back. Scary stuff.

Morning Tina. Fun pictures! Especially love the first one. It could be a 1960's Coca-Cola commercial. :) "I'd like to teach the world to sing....in perfect harmony"........:)

Safe and fun travels to Liv and Scotty. All cake flavours sound wonderful. Your dinner sounds yummy.

We enjoyed our curried chicken and rice dinner last night. Tasted like comfort food for sure.

Jim's brother Bruce and SIL Laura are arriving in Ottawa this evening. Jim and I are going to meet up with them for dinner again and bring them to the Craft Beer Market where we brought our visitors last weekend as well. Both guys are big beer fans. :) I'm actually going to suggest going to the 222 Lyon St. Tapas Bar, as it's within easy walking distance of their Hotel and it's a really fun spot. We'll see what ends up happening.

So today is house cleaning day for me. It's our work out day today but I'm still stiff and sore from gardening so I am passing on the treadmill. If I did the treadmill I'd be having a hard time trying to get all the house work done.

Wishing everyone a great day. I have a craving for soup.

    Good Morning!
My vote would be The Red Velvet Cake with strawberry filling, Tina. I hope the cakes survive traveling. Nice throwback pictures for sure. Sending safe travels to Liv and Scotty.
Take it easy cleaning, Janet. You don't want to strain your back too much. Enjoy your dinner and possibly Tapas with your BIL and SIL tonight.

I am getting my hair cut and coloured with a few highlights today. I get tired of looking at my hair being a dreary gray colour in some places and I always like to get it done in the Spring b/c it lasts through the summer months. I also have a list which keeps growing so I will try to attend to some of those errands today as well. I am not sure what is for dinner b/c I might pick something up when I am out.
    Wishing everyone a great day!

Tina, anything with chocolate is number one on my list. Safe travels for Scotty and Olivia.

Have a good time at the hairdressers, Joce. Are you adding color highlights?

Sounds like you are going to have a good time Janet. Enjoy. Except the housework is hardly an enjoyable activity, I guess. LOL!

One weather app has a small hail storm heading our way and has it dipping South so who knows!

Watched Iron Chef Gauntlet -- recorded from yesterday to avoid boring, repetitious commercials. The first one eliminated was the one I preferred to stay. Can't win them all.
Iron Chef Morimoto is my favorite!

Got to go. See you later.

Morning Karen! Go Chef Morimoto. I've seen him on TV before.

Hey Joce and Bren....what about those Ottawa Senators eh? Whoop!

I watched Iron Chef Gauntlet myself. I love Morimoto. Alton Brown is a good host. The chef who won Top Chef ten years ago is my fav.
Karen, should be fun to watch this format.

Ugh, on house cleaning, I have floors to do. I can sit in my walker and steam mop fairly well. Just can't move the furniture.

Janet, first picture 1970, second picture 1987.
    Hope you get your tapas.

Joce, I bought my color my own kit. Blonde it is for summer. Enjoy your pampering.

I'm hungry. I have some corn pudding leftover, it will make a quick lunch with a green salad.

    Go Sens.

Hi Tina, love the throwback photos! Those outfits are awesome in the first picture! I'm guessing the last picture is Fred, in the middle? What are the handsome men up to in that picture? I vote Marble cake with Italian rum filling! Ahhh, nice to have clean pups, I need to bathe my dogs too. Never a fun chore. Your dinner for one sounds great! :)

Hi Janet, enjoy your night out tonight. I wouldn't be going on the treadmill either, best not to over do it if you have cleaning to do as well! I'm glad your curry chicken was good, now I'm craving some!

HI Joce, enjoy your pampering at the hairdresser's!! :) I need to colour my grey as well, I knew it was bad but then my son commented on it the other day. Leave it to kids to speak the harsh truth...lol ;)

Hi Karen, I tape everything now too, can't stand commercials!

Bren, I left the response from So Delicious on yesterday's ODD post!

Hi Linda, I hope all is well. Feel free to comment about your day, don't feel pressured to respond to all of us! We'd just like to know how you are doing! Take care xx

Hi Kimmer, sorry to hear your daughter isn't getting married. I guess that's for the best right now if they are having issues. I hope Cayce is feeling much better! :)

I'm still tired and groggy this morning, need my 454 coffee to rev me up! ;) We ended up being at the dentist forever. He needed some deep sealants on his new teeth. But then the dental assistant came out and says it looks like the three cavities they thought were small and might heal on their own needed to be filled. So I agreed, waited another hour and $526 later......I'll be finding another dentist! Our coverage would barely cover my cleaning let alone Pete (I need fillings too) and we still need coverage for our eyes, Orthodontist and my Physio this year. Pete is going to ask his boss for more health coverage. After that, it was too late to make supper so we picked up burgers on the way home. The evening turned out so sunny and warm so we went for a bike ride and I was exhausted after! We tried Roxy walking next to the bike for the first time. She's always been a scaredy cat and we thought she'd be frantic. But she stayed right beside the bike trotting and we kept a slower pace. Today I am staying put and relaxing. I'm not sure what's for dinner yet.

Have a great day everyone! :)

Shona, yes, it is Fred in the middle. They were sky diving. My mom made those outfits for us. My wig was a hoot. What 13 year old wears a wig???

Highway robbery at the dentist. Holy cow! You deserve a decompress day, indeed.

LOL @ the ODD Avatar Tina. Good one and you can't help but sing! :)

Ugh on an additional $526 dollar Dentist bill Shona. It really does pay to look around for a new Dentist. Both Jim and I are REALLY happy with the new one we chose on the recommendation of a friend. Big difference! Yum on burgers. I'm craving burgers. Good on Roxy for walking next to your bikes. Enjoy your relaxing day.

Oh my gosh, I didn't know that was a wig! Was that a Jane Fonda wig? My Mom had several wigs back in the 70's, one looked like that one and she called it her Jane Fonda wig! lol ;) Wow, sky diving----I didn't know Fred was such a thrill seeker!

SP Janet! Yes, I must shop around for a dentist! I was meaning to ask you if you liked the Guy Fieri salsa verde. It was the only kind I could find at Sobey's the other day. And then I started wondering if that was the one you didn't like? Any recipe recommendations? I have chicken (a combo of frozen chicken tenders and thighs) to use up.

It was a Jane Fonda!!! Haha! :-) My own hair is so thin and oily, I wore a wig back then because daily washing without a blow dryer wasn't the thing yet. I had a hot comb to try and dry it before school, it never worked.

Fred also dove off the cliffs in Acapulco. He was a high diver in college. He made money doing stunt dives at shows. He had a blast coaching Olivia in high school. He also did a lot of scuba diving in the South Pacific. He gave me chills talking about diving amongst downed Japanese planes. Every year when we were first married, he'd go to the Florida Keys and dive for spiny lobsters. He flew his own plane through the Dakotas, Minnesota, Idaho and Montana as a sales rep for Revlon. He was a world class man. He wore a black eye patch when I met him. My own Hathaway man. Lord, I miss him.

The middle picture left to right, mom, Allison, Sherida and me. They look so much alike, it is crazy. That is Sherida in the colorful patchwork plaid pant suit. She is nine years older, Allison is two years younger than me.

Shona....here's three recipes I had bookmarked using chicken and salsa verde. Indeed, Guy's salsa verde is the one I didn't care for. But you might like it. I tried the first recipe but made a note that I didn't care for it.
    Chicken Verde
This is Marie's recipe but I have yet to try it.
    Slow Cooker Chile Verde
And this is the recipe I make A LOT. Turkey/chicken doesn't matter.
    Turkey Enchilladas Verde

Scuba diving in the South Pacific. Wouldn't that be something! Diving for spiny lobsters as well. Very cool. Hugs Tina. Fred's always with you. Happy thoughts.

I like Herdez brand Verde sauce. I can get it at Aldi's. I use it in a slow cooker with either chicken or pork until I can shred with a fork. It makes a yummy soft taco filling.

I love the pics Tina and would never have guessed that it was a wig. I would choose the chocolate cake just for the icing, I love anything hazelnut. Wow on off of the risky things that Fred did.

That's a great deal on the towels, Janet and thanks for the heads up on the pasta. Don't overdo Janet and enjoy your dinner out. The Sens game was a real nail-biter. I really question some of officiating though.

    Enjoy your day out Joce.

I've never seen Iron Chef Gauntlet but I did see that it will be starting here on Friday night. Fingers crossed that the storm skirts around you. I've had the occasional bottle of sauce go off and usually because I've used two lids.

I would be looking for a new dentist, Shona. Those prices are outrageous. I see people riding their bikes with a dog all of the time but i wouldn't chance it. Annie has such a high prey drive that she would take off if she saw a squirrel or rabbit. Thanks for the info about So Delicious, I kind of thought that it had been discontinued.

Well, I should be cleaning the house or the car but I'm just not feeling it. Dinner will be ham and potato stew, it's already made to I'll just have to heat. My energy level is really low today.

Enjoy the rest of your day.

Wow, Fred really was a world class man! So many people could only wish to do half the things he did in a lifetime. Picture him doing all things in heaven now and that should put a smile on your face :) :)

Thanks for the recipes Janet! Oh yeah, it was the enchiladas I wanted to make. But I don't have the cheese or green chilis, boo, I'm always short an ingredient or two! I was driving home after I bought that salsa and it occurred to me that you might not have liked that one. I'll have to try it first and see if I can add anything to make it better.

That's the brand I always buy too Tina. But for some reason Sobey's had Herdez everything except their salsa verde. (Guy Fieri probably has some exclusive clause to carry his salsa, lol) I like the idea of doing a slow cooker taco filling, thanks! :)

I think I've had the Herdez brand and liked it too Tina.

I'm sure I would have survived a stint on the treadmill and then cleaning the house Bren but I would have been sore tomorrow and since we're entertaining I'd rather be chipper. :) The officiating disappears during the Play offs. It doesn't make any logical sense. Ham and potato stew sounds yummy.

I'm low energy today too. It's 12:30 here and I just finished my breakfast. I might just declare it a pajama day! That's great you just have to reheat some stew for dinner, hopefully you can have a relaxing day! :)

Hi everyone. I'll try and post something later or tomorrow. Just busy and trying to keep stress level down. The house in SC is a problem and the sale will probably fall thru. Will have that confirmed tomorrow and the house will then need to go back on the market. Just too much to deal with all at once.

Sorry Linda. You will find the right buyer!
Weeks ago my boss texted that he wanted to do a company outing to a bar in Boston that was going to do a theme on the movie Anchorman with Will Farrel. Me Rob,Nick and the two attorneys Brandy and Megan. lol I had to confess I never saw the movie.
So Brandy and Megan got there first and it was just a loud room, you couldn't hear yourself speak and it was a very young crowd. My boss was disappointed but we went to a restaurant called prime. I had a have baked chicken dish. I don't know why since I took out a chicken for dinner tonight. But it was good. I also had some of Nick's duck. I was going to order that but I wasn't sure I would like it. We got a drink called the Fishbowl. It was blue actually had a rubber nemo fish and was served ina small fish tank. Crazy. The. I got up at 5:30am to run with some new members of the club. Took Becca on a college tour to Lasell but she wasn't a fan. She is driving me crazy with her anxiety level. She sees a councilor once a month and when she went last Wednesday the councilor had her come back for another session last night. Every little thing. She cannot just go with the flow.

Hello to all. Love the pics Tina and wow didn't know Fred was such an adventurous fella! Just remember he's always smiling down on you and Liv and always in your hearts! Great on the housework Janet. Wish I could say the same. Enjoy your evening out. Those are awful dental expenses! I think shopping around is a must. Glad you checked in Linda. So sorry about the house deal. Hoping you get good news soon.

Took Cayce to the Dr. today. He has a respitory virus. No meds just have to wait it out. Apparently a lot going around.

Hubs and I are going on a short business/pleasure trip across the state to St. Augustine. Leaving early Sunday morning and will return sometime in the evening on Monday. Booking a delightful hotel right on the beach. Will have some time on Sunday to venture around, shop and spend some time on the beach. Monday will be business then head home. Really looking forward to getting away plus I love, love St. Augustine! Have been there numerous times. Boys will have to fend for themselves for a night. They will be at Dad's most of the day on Sunday. Already told them NO PARTY!! And no one in the house that I don't know or don't like! Being as it's a Sunday night I'm not to worried. Plus I trust my boys. Need to get to the grocery on Saturday and make sure they have plenty of snacks and easy stuff to microwave. Dad just lives about 15 minutes away so he can be here quick if there is a problem. And their sister lives even closer. And of course, I will be on the phone to them frequently.

Pizza delivery here tonight. Boys have a softball game but will eat when they get back. Cayce is sitting out and just watching and there to support the team.

    Enjoy the evening all!

Awww Linda. I'm sorry to hear about the house. Sending you some positivity. Take care.

Your dinner out with your co-workers sounded really nice Laurie and that drink VERY fun. Sorry to hear Becca's having a hard time. There's a lot going on for her right now though so I could see how her anxiety would climb.

What a lovely get away Kimmer. Enjoy, enjoy, enjoy! I will have to google St. Augustine. How did it go with the girl for Easter Dinner? Did she have a good time and did you learn more of her story? YUMMERS on pizza. Hope the boys have a good game.
