Thursday Throwdown

  • sparow64 11 years ago
    Good Morning!

Nope, not having a Throwdown...just couldn't think of anything else. lol

I kinda skimmed thru yesterday's posts, and sent you a pm Tina. 18 years is waaayyyy too long for them to count something against you, and it shouldn't even be on your report any more. Might be best in the long run that you didn't get a loan with that company. We aren't licensed in FL any longer, but, there are several things I can help you with. And, yes, the appraisal belongs to you. It will have the name of that lender on it, but, it's yours and it's good for 6 months as far is using it for lending purposes. Another lender can request that the appraiser reissue for them. With your scores you should be able to get something good. They also look at late mortgage payments, but, 3 or 4 years is the max that they go back for most programs. PM me.

The dr decided to not do the chemo treatments yesterday. Mom had lost 11 pounds in 2 weeks, and he wants her to get built up some before he does more chemo. He is going to check her again next week. One of the chemos can shut down bowel function, so, the thinks that is what has happened to her. It's better now, but, he is probably going to stop giving her that one. (She takes a combo of 2 different ones). Good news was that lab work shows that liver function has not gotten worse. Some of her pain and tummy issues are from the chemo, and some from the cancer in the liver. It was kinda sad, though...without going into the long drawn out details, I could really tell that Mom and Dad don't always get what the Dr says, and that we probably get a distorted version of what he says. Gonna have to have a powow with my sister and brother and see if we can manage for one of us to go every time, without upsetting Mom and Dad and them knowing WHY we are really going.

After I got home Bryan and I took a drive to Bald River Falls...I have never ever seen that much water there! The river was raging...more so that the last time I had pix of it! :) Will post pix soon.

Our rain is supposed to turn to snow today, and we are supposed to get a few inches. Then down in the 20s tonight, so ice in the morning. Then back up to 40s tomorrow! I hope we get snowed in for the weekend. lol Probably not. Sunny and 50s Sat and Sun. Talk about crazy weather Laurie...we are right there with ya!

Well geez...guess I should have named it all about ME Thursday! lol Not a clue about dinner yet.

Hope everyone is well! I have to go back and read more thoroughly.
HI to all! Have a great day!

LOL! Morning Lori! When I saw 'Thursday Throwdown' I was sure it was Laura who started the thread and was going to do up her shrimps with her Mister today. :) More good ideas for Tina. Such a good support group here in ODD. You guys are the best. That's a lot of info for you and your family to process re: the Dr.'s news. Glad your Mom's liver function hasn't got worse. Fight the fight. Big hugs. Would love to see the pics of Bald River Falls. Also love the name. :) Be careful driving tomorrow. Did you have fun with Donna Tuesday night?
It's freakin' cold here this morning. Bright, blue sunny sky but 5F and getting colder as the day goes on down to 1F. We'll definitely light a fire in the fireplace tonight!
    I'm making Pat's
    Baked Crisp Parmesan Romano Chicken
    and I'm gonna make Tina's
    Clementine Fennel And Olive Salad
again, this time with the Sambuca. (Although now I realize I don't have any aged cheese to speak of, but......)
Wishing everyone a grand day. I'm supposed to get the service guys here today to change the damper on the heating system to see if that fixes our woes and also to look at the Hot Water Heater. Fun,fun, fun! :)

    Good morning everyone:)

Lori, good advice for Tina...thinking good positive thoughts & prayers for your Mom (and you & your family) xoxox

Janet, your dinner sounds amazing as always:) I can't believe how cold it gets there! It's 50 here and 30 in the valley..every once in a while there's an inversion layer and we are warmer than the valley...can u tell I watched the weather this morning? lol Good luck with the heating system!!!

Rick is working in Chico, I have to go there as well to do some shopping for groceries..ugh anyway we recieved 2 coupons in the mail (I think we were only supposed to receive 1) for $10 off $50 worth of groceries at Winco..you can only use 1 coupon per transaction, so guess who's going to be shopping twice today..I can buy non perishables, take them out to my car and come back in and shop again for frozen, meat, etc..watch me get busted..lol

I don't have a clue what's for dinner..have to figure that out after shopping...

    Have a splendid day!

Lori, It isn't all about you:) Look at how helpful you are being to Tina and your Mom. Like the doctor says it is probably wise to give her a rest from the chemo to build up her strength also a great idea to have someone go with her each time so you know what to expect. Hoping your Mom's tummy issues clear up soon. (((Hugs))) It is good you went out for a ride and saw the Bald River Falls now I can't wait for the pics as that would be a site to see! How is Bryan's back doing? Is he feeling any better? No doubt in my mind you will figure out something good for dinner either!

Janet, Good luck with the furnace and hot water heater issues. Gee I hope they can fix it for you this time once and for all! I have the fireplace on this morning so I figure I will snuggle in for the day. Pat's Baked Crisp Parmesan Romano Chicken and Tina' Clementine Fennel And Olive Salad would be awesome together for dinner! YUM!

Marie, Wow! You scored really well with those coupons! LOL I doubt you will get busted:) Have fun spending them anyways and enjoy your day in Chico.

We are having leftover Breast of Chicken Mornay for dinner with baked potatoes and asparagus. I still need to make up a batch of crepes yet and also some brownies or chocolate chip cookies for Den's lunches. I also plan on stem cleaning the kitchen and bathroom floors today and that is about it.

Hoping everyone has a great day!!!

Morning Joce! Yum on your dinner plans. Sounds excellent. Also on the crepes, brownies and chocolate chip cookies. You have a productive day planned! I'm in Benjamin's room going through drawers that haven't seen the light of day in years. :) Am going to have quite a few boxes to truck off to the Salvation Army! And a big load for the paper recycling next time! :)

    Good morning!

I'm going to my girlfriend's house for a lesson in homemade pasta later. Dinner will be butternut squash ravioli if all goes well. In the meantime working on laundry before hitting the treadmill. Still have errands to run.. I'm already zapped. I need a pick me up. Have a good one!

Hi Dahlia! A homemade pasta lesson sounds like great fun! And butternut squash ravioli sounds lovely. What kind of sauce would you serve over that? Sending you a virtual pick me up....(maybe involving a little chocolate?) :)

Janet, I've been dying for chocolate the last few days & trying to stay away! How'd you know? I'll settle for a b complex vitamin for the boost I guess.. Hoping for a chai latte later, been craving that too. Sage browned butter sauce for the ravioli.

Leftover pierogi casserole and rouladen pot roast for us.
Three hour preop appt. for Fred this am Surgery next Thusday at one. He is on heavy duty painkillers.

Lori, thank you dear. Sent you a pm. Hugs to you and many prayers for your momma. Good idea to go along and get a straight answer from the doctors.

Charlie and Molly knocked a whole box of peanut butter cookies off the counter and ate them while we were out. Fred is mad.

    Yum on the baking Joce.
Marie, cool score on the coupons for groceries!
Glad you liked the Pork Larb, Janet. It is really good.
Dahlia, have fun with the fresh pasta lesson! Sage browned butter is a great idea.

Strong push of cold air coming to FL. We might even get a freeze warning by Wednesday. Sure will mess up the plants that have begun to sprout new growth.

Good luck to you with the B complex vitamin Dahlia but IMHO chocolate tastes way better. :) But I know you are trying to behave yourself and good for you. Hope you do get your Chai Latte. I came across 5 Starbucks cards in one of Benjamin's drawers. Some had like .86 cents on them but some had like eight bucks. In total $24.07. Gonna go buy a couple of pounds of coffee. :)
Your dinner sounds great Tina. Glad you've got Fred's surgery all lined up. It will be so good when they can get him fixed up and he's not hurting anymore! Oops on the cookies. :) The toasted crushed rice was interesting in the Pork Larb. I'm not sure I could taste the flavour, but....it did add a little crunch factor. I've never had a Sage Browned butter sauce.
The repairmen have been here virtually all day and aren't close to done yet I don't think. The hot water heater is working again and they're not quite sure why. Don't you hate that? Cuz you know it's going to happen again.

okay someone plug the heater back in. The temperature has dropped like a rock since this morning when I was outside gardening. I think I've been kidnapped to some alternate, much colder universe.

Good afternoon all. Yes, when I saw Thursday Throwdown I thought of Laura too, lol.

Just a quick one here for me. Came home sick from work yesterday morning. Did go in today and made it to 3:00. Just couldn't focus. Think it's just a cold but have been running a fever.

Dinner for the boys tonight will be "whatever you can find!!". Have plenty of frozen stuff like bagel bites, fish sticks, etc.......... For me it's a delightful bowl of chicken noodle soup. Does the body good!

Prayers and positive thoughts for mom Lori. And I agree with Joce.

Hope all have a delightful evening!

I'm pulling out a quilt for tonight!! 45 degrees! Yahoo I LOVE IT!
I layered the pierogi lasagna with sauteed mushrooms and sauteed onions with the sauerkraut.....really warm comfort food.

I like the crunch factor of the toasted rice. You are right, Janet, the dressing is so yummy and makes the dish. Nice score on the Starbucks bux.

Hello Kimmer.....you would like the rouladen...especially if I had made red cabbage!

I'm starving! I put the chicken in the oven already and the salad is made. Jim should be home any minute. The service men are still here. (Didn't make enough to feed them though) LOL!

Hello Tina, Joce, Dahlia & Kimmer! Can't catch up right now..

Janet, I remember you saying you got some chile in your eye, well, i did the same and just about fell to my knees..I even washed my hands! Googled what to do if this happens and I learned something new..,put some milk in a shot glass (or small glass
)and wash your eyes out ..it worked instantly..just thought I'd let you know..

We are going to a funeral tomorrow in Lincoln, Rick's sister-in-law's Mother passed away this week,,I met her maybe twice, very sweet lady, she was pretty close to 90, had a full and good life!!! So I'm ironing some pants & a shirt for Rick and trying to find something nice enough to wear....I have lots of nice dresses, but need to pick one out..that will take a while lol

I will try to check back! Making stuffed chiles with spanish rice & jack cheese...

I have my single slider wide open as well as my window!! The wind is whistling through my room. LOVE IT. I like to burrow under covers and never get to do that when it is so hot. And a full stack of pillows to protect my head from the bookcase. The wind chimes sound like caroling bells. Fred has all the other windows shut tight LOL.

Marie, what a great tip for the burning pain from chile in the eye. Yum on stuffed chiles with Spanish rice, love it. Ironing??? You are the better woman.

Oh, Janet, please tell me you will have hot water soon. Bless your heart on not making enough for all. I'm hungry but Fred is taking a mini nap before supper.
The house smells yummy. Poor dogs are slinking through the house. Fred misses his peanut butter cookies. I'm going to whip up some instant pudding for him.

Back to work tomorrow. I have salads all prepped. Yogurt and fruit! I;m set.

I don't think my iron or ironing board survived the purge of '12. I ate my supper. Fred won't wake up. Poor dude. Dogs are sick. Quarantined temporarily outside....I am building them comfy beds in the crates with plenty of water in a suspended bowl. I don't know if Pepto would help, they ate over 6 dozen cookies. I've got a gelled dog mat. turkish bath mat and a bed of shredded paper. They are so spoiled.

Liv has the "flu" diagnosed and confirmed. She got a shot of steroids and is soldiering on.

Hey all. A pop in before bed. Tina.......so sorry to hear Liv has the flu. Liquids and rest........she has to do it! Did I hear a mention of red cabbage...........hhmmmmm.......now I want some!!!! Love me some of that! Poor doggies. My dog Charlie did that two years ago at Christmas. Had all kinds of cookies set out on the coffee table and he just couldn't help himself. My God..........he had the sh#%@ for days.........sorry.......TMI...... Anyway, he got "thru" it ok, but do remember him quarantined as well. Yipes! Yes, put an extra blanky on the bed tonight. Got my windows and sliders open as well. Hubs keeps closing them saying.........your sick and your going to catch a draft. Ok...........how does one catch a draft????? Germans.........gotta love em I guess! But still, off to bed with a delightful cool air about the bedroom. Will snuggle down under my comforter with my kitty cats and all will be well with the world. At least my world!

    Sleep sweet all............as always...............
