Thursday Tirade

  • MissouriFarmWife 9 years ago
Thursday Tirades is appropriate for this morning.

We were called out for a lift assist at 6 A.M. - not the thing I wanted to do on the day I started my prep. As usual for some of this area, the address was in the boonies and the mailbox numbers were illegible.

Afterward, we went home and I reread the instructions. NOT even sugar allowed in the coffee, although they allow popsicles (UGH!), which are loaded with sugar. Go figure! I guess the clear broth I am drinking is O.K. - at least the instructions say so. Wayne is putting on some coffee so I will attempt drinking it black - ugh!

    End of tirade.

No cooking for today. If I’m up to it tomorrow, after stopping by the store to see about ordering the hearth pad, actual solid food again for lunch! They didn’t have the one we wanted, but there are two others that looked nice, one they even have in the warehouse.

(Update - black coffee was not so bad - tolerable - but can’t wait for my creamer tomorrow.)

    Hi all.

I don't envy your liquid diet day, Karen:( However, this too shall pass. It will be over before you know it. Wow what a big Bobcat! The camera you have is very cool for watching all the interesting animals who visit you.

Laurie, LOL your Mom sounds like she is so lovable and cute:) Very neat the bartender fellow cleared the Boston Marathon Finishing Line b/c, it is considered sacred ground. Also very nice you honoured Keni by seasoning your cast iron pans. I am quite sure she would highly approve of you doing that.

Marie, How did your Mom and Dad like Swedish Meatballs I bet they were very very good!

Janet, I get ticked off at the price of most cards these days. Den still insists on buying those great big expensive Hallmark ones and it drives me INSANE! I keep telling him just send me an e-card or write something on a Post-It or something, it is the thought that counts! I like the idea of the Valentine's sticker on the bottle of wine so much better too!

Tina, Take good care dear. Thinking of you. HUGS)))

No cooking for me today. I have a dental appointment this afternoon. I will take a taxi to and from there. Then later we have an appointment @ 6.00 PM with a Financial Planner.
We will either eat out in a restaurant or bring take-out home? Either way is just fine with me.

NINE DAYS UNTIL BENJAMIN IS HOME!!! The official count down is on:)

Oh, I have not had my coffee yet today and I am grumpy. I had fasting bloodwork and then I tried the standing MRI for my hand. The office staff did not give me back my insurance card or driver's license, which I did not notice til I got to the bank. Back to Imaging, back to bank, and finally home. My legs are like jelly.

Karen, I've had 3 colonoscopy procedures in the last 15 years. The prep is awful, I agree. That bobcat is big!! I know you'll be ready to eat tomorrow.

Good luck at the dentist, Joce. Have a nice meal out. I agree greeting cards are so expensive. I hated the waste when I worked at American Greetings and had to destroy card after card. Much less shred all the wrapping paper that didn't sell.

    NINE days!!! So Exciting.

    Veggie soup for me.

    Good Morning Everyone!
That is weird that they allow popsicles but no sugar in coffee Karen. Good luck today. VERY cool on the Bobcat picture.
Good luck with your Dental appointment Joce. Hope you have a good meeting with the Financial Planner as well. Dinner out will be nice. Had a quick chat with Benjamin online this morning. He was at a friends for dinner last night and had a big Korean feast. NOM. Indeed nine days. So excited. :)
I think the weather forecast is for us getting 10-15 cm. of snow between now and tomorrow evening. Jim's going to have to shovel off the pond again. :)
Jim and I did our work outs first thing. I'm very happy to say that I got all the way through my thirty minutes on the treadmill without hurting. That's the first time this month! If it continues I'll boost my speed next week. Whoop for progress! :)
Just got back from getting my Hair cut. Feels 100% better. Have decided to make
Rock Cornish Game Hens With Crab Stuffing
for dinner this evening but have to think of sides. Sens Game on tonight as well. Thank Goodness as I was going through withdrawal. There hasn't been a game since last Wednesday!
    Wishing everyone a great day.

Marie...thanks for the link and help re: using evaporated milk vs. 1/2 and 1/2 in the Meatball recipe. I think that's what I am going to do!

    Cards are definitely too high!

WalMart has nice ones for $3.99 and up - no way would I spend the $9.00 range. The Dollar Tree has cards and el cheapo wrapping paper, often their $1.00 gift bags are better for "wrapping" presents, anyway. I have been known to use paper bags at times. Well, not for wedding presents or "social" occasions, but for casual stuff, it looks cool with twine for ribbon and a cut out card photo for the tag! I pretend it is RUSTIC chic, but actualy it is the cheapskate in me reacting at $6.00 plus wrapping paper that tears when you fold it over the box. LOL.

I like getting a nice card - shoot, even just a plain old card - but for a special occasion a nicer one is -- well -- NICE. Love the singing cards - sent my Dad one at Christmas time that sang "Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer" and youngest GS one that sang "Happy Birthday" so he could play it and drive his mother up a wall. Bwahahahahaha!

Joce, I know the diet thing is today only and usually I breeze thru this stuff with no problem. Why today is different? Who knows! My theory (Wayne looks skeptical) is it because I ate a healthy supper instead of roast beef and mashed potatoes and stuffing. It would have "stayed" with me better than the catered meal. (He is shaking his head.)

A.C. is smoozing - he wants canned food. HE does not care for the healthy choice, over priced cat food I got for them. He is marching around the house like a restless little cougar. Bad Kitty.

Saw a pix on facebook taken by a game camera near where we go to church. It is a black panther, which of course the powers that be claim are nonexistent in Central MO. I have not seen a pix of one on our place, but some nearby have captures images of wild boar, which tore up a farm field 5 miles South of us. So far we have not seen evidence on them on our place. Orders from conservation are shoot to kill them on sight - they are highly dangerous and destructive. My idea of dealing with them in watching from the sun room. WIth a hot drink and my trusty laptop at hand.

    Good morning ladies:)

Karen, I really love the term Joce used that our dear friend Pat would always say.."This too shall pass" It seems to help when you have something you're not looking forward to..good luck today my dear:) Love the Bobcat pic!

Joce, We'll be taking the Swedish Meatballs to Mom & Dad this afternoon..I just finished making them..then we'll meet Rick's older brother and Dad at his appt in Chico so the can check on his leg wound. Good luck with the rest of your liquid diet Karen! I forced myself to like black coffee lol! Now I can't stand creamer or sugar in mine.

Lol at Den wanting to buy expensive cards Joce! Michael and I are both on the same page about buying cards....we don't! What a waste of money in our opinion! Good luck with your errands today...I'd take eating out or take out too, either one!

What a pain in the butt Tina! The receptionist should always remember to give you back your cards and ID...it's their job!

Jealous of Benjamin's Korean feast Janet, yum!! Woo hoo on your workout getting easier! Good job :) Yum on your cornish hen dinner. I say broccoli as a side :P Just kidding!! How many hockey games is normal for 1 week?

I got a work out in this morning as well! Felt good to get back into the swing of things..I really procrastinated this time. Also have some bread in the oven, smells delicious, and about to go and clean the bathtubs (groan). Have laundry going and the dishwasher going. I guess it's a big cleaning day around here. Need to figure out lunch soon though, my stomach is growling. Dinner tonight will be http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Beef-Stifado/?prop31=1 I wanted to do something a bit different with my stew meat this time other than beef stew. Will serve over cauliflower rice and a side of brussel sprouts. Hope everyone's day is going good :)

    SP Janet and Tina.

Today must be grumpy day, Tina. I have been out of sorts all morning. I've had the stupid colonoscopy before as well as some other stuff that requires fasting, and done fine. It is no big deal. I groused and told Wayne I was informing them that if it was squeaky clean and no polyps this time I was telling them at 70 yrs. old I don't need any more, and they can find a blood test to tell what or if a cancer is present -- I am tired of invasive procedures. He wisely smiled and decided to do some outside chores. Glad you survived the trips and errands without coffee - hate it when I have to backtrack. Have a nice cup of coffee, a cream cheese bagel, then prop up your legs and relax. You deserve it.

No fun at the dentist appt., Joce. I think our dentist could retire on the money I spend there.

Congrats on the treadmill, Janet. That makes two who report grumpiness. Maybe a "GRUMPY VIRUS" is at large in Canada and the U.S. The weather dudes are hinting that Saturday may be a snowstorm. But they keep waffling so we may get sleet and ice, or rain and sleet, or rain turning to snow. It has been a super mild winter, unlike last year. That means we could get clobbered during February or even the first week of March. I don't mind the snow, hope the big one waits until the wood burning insert is in place.

O.K. I am going to heat up some broth and maybe go sit in the sun room or even be industrious enough to put away clothes from the drier ?? - NAH! I'm entitled to a few more grump sessions. Enjoy your coffee everyone.

    Grump #1 signing off.

Have fun visiting everyone today Marie.
Hi Michelle! 2-3 Hockey games per week is an average #. The league took a break for the All Stars Game which isn't really a game, but I won't bore you. Anyway...the main thing is I haven't seen a game in 7 nights and I'm going through withdrawal. :) Sounds like you are being VERY productive!
You are totally allowed to rant re: your procedure tomorrow Karen. I feel for you. What about jello? My Mom was allowed jello (no red though) the day before her colonoscopy and at least it felt like she was 'eating' something. Broth is good though. I do like broth. LOL @ the Grumpy virus. Could totally be true alright. :) What did you get to eat at the catered dinner last night?

    Hi Marie and Michelle!

Janet, I hate jello with a passion so that is out. But it at least has a consistency so it seems like you are eating. Popsicles would have been a good thing but really don't appreciate the dyes in them. Wayne is going to get my car and he will pick up some more broth on the way home. There is 7UP and Gatorade in the refrigerator. And LOTS of tea of various types. As long as I pick one that is OK unsweetened. I think their rules are inconsistent - sugar is sugar is sugar and is dissolved whether you add it or it is already in the stuff.

I think the Grumpy Virus is only evicted with a take-hpme box of Church's chicken for lunch or supper tomorrow. I will pig out and snarl bad thoughts at the entire procedure.

The dinner last night was chicken breast with some sort of topping - very good, roast stuffed pork (a bit on the tough side which is unusual, their pork is usually tender), carrots, roasted potato slices, rolls, mixed lettuce salad, homemade dressings, chocolate raspberry cake. There was ice tea or water on the tables, and the club sprang for Corona ale, beer, several bottles of wine. I had one glass of white wine -- gee, I could use that today but I don't think the medical people would approve. Ha ha. I thought white would be better than red, considering.

    Have a good everyone.

Oh no on the Jello hatred Karen! :) LOL. You very well be the first person I know that feels that way. LOL @ the Grumpy Virus. I thick Church's chicken should certainly be a good combatant to that virus. The dinner does sound very nice.

I think I have mentioned before that I think cards are a waste of money. And I never know what to do with them after. Just more clutter. Bah humbug lol.
Frank went to the walk in this morning, had to stay out of work. Along with a bad cough, sore throat and being all congested. He has pink eye!
Worked late again. I actually had to use a typewriter today lol. Like riding a bike. Some of the 1099s didn't print correctly and we only had the bits that wouldn't fit in the printer so I went to the accountants office upstairs. My boss being a jerk said "how much it's going to cost me hourly for the time it will take you I canpay the accountant to send them out and bill me!" I used to type 60'words per minute and although I'm not that fast anymore since its been about twenty years, I still got them done in less than 20 minutes! Jerk!
Stopped at store and got a rotisserie chicken we had that with mashed and corn.
Since Frank is sick he has been sleeping downstairs so I haven't used elliptical or bike all week.
Karen you have to fast for a full day? That seems long
    Yay on 9'days!
