Thursday's Turkey Dip

  • chuckieb 7 years ago
Good Morning Everyone! Just slowy coming awake and very much enjoying my first cup of coffee. I have my girlfriend from the Flower Shop and her daughter coming for lunch today. Her daughter doesn't like a lot of things so my menu is fairly neutral but I think it'll be fun and yummy.
    Keni's
    Blackened Turkey Dip
    for the main and
    Fudge Hearts
    for dessert.
And as an appy I'm doing a veggie tray with
    Heinz 57 Dip
but I'm going to arrange it in the shape of an owl. I saw it on Pinterest and thought it was adorable. I'll put the picture below. We'll see how close I come to replicating it. LOLOL. And if I don't ....we can play "Guess the animal". LOLOLOL.
I'd invited them out for a hot tub as well but the repair guy called yesterday and can't make it out 'til tomorrow morning. Boo.

Shona.....hoping your night passed by quickly and without waking. I'm guessing Pete's picking up the kid's lunch making and school driving responsibilities?

Goodness Karen on Wayne thinking that Geezer might have been bit by a Possum.

How's the bunny this morning Linda?

Making Beef Stew in the crockpot for dinner this evening.

    Wishing everyone a great day.

Good morning everyone. That's a lovely looking lunch, Janet, and the owl arrangement is adorable. So sorry that the hot tub still isn't working, I know that you love to use it.
I went back to find out what happened with Shona. OMG!!! I'm so sorry and I hope that they can do something to repair the tendons.
I can hardly believe this crazy weather that we're getting, almost 50cm of snow these last few days and the forecast for Sat. is +11.
We had to take Annie to the Vet's this week as she's been limping off and on for a few weeks and they believe that she's torn a ligament, cha ching to repair.
Our daughter will be joining us for dinner so we'll have one of her fav's Eggs Poached In Tomato Sauce
    Have a great day everyone.

Enjoy your lunch with your friends, Janet. Lol at guessing the animal if the veggie tray doesn't turn out:) Bummer on the Hot Tub not being fixed in time for your guests today.

Shona, Like Janet, said I hope you were able to have a good night's sleep. PLEASE take good care of yourself. I wonder if they can operate and give you a new shoulder like they can do with knees? I really hope they can do something for you! Very gentle HUGS)))

Linda, I hope you DH ended out eating something and his vision is better today. My cousin had a stroke and it hit his vision now he only has 23% of his vision. So be careful and keep an eye on that. I just wish he would take his meds but as you say you can't force that issue. Even just a baby Asprin a day will help him and he can chew it rather than swallowing it. When does he see a doctor again? I hope Bella's eye is better today.

I can't take morphine either Karen. It doesn't do anything to me but make me so itchy from head to toe and it gives me such a creepy feeling. I can take the other kind of morphine that they inject, though. I hope Geezer's ear is a bit better today. Does your company arrive today?

Wishing Bri A Very Happy Birthday, Michelle! How did she like her cupcake with the candle on it first thing this morning?

Den has an eye appointment this morning and then we are going out for lunch at Maximillians Restaurant. http://www.maximiliansrestaurant.ca/ I know he will have the Weiner Schnitzel and I will just wait and see what they have on for their specials today. Den has an appointment to get his hair cut this afternoon as well. I don't have a clue what we will be having for dinner but I do know it will be something light as we will most likely be stuffed from having such a big lunch.

    Wishing everyone a great day!

    Good mornings.

My iPad is auto correcting so please ignore any weird comments.

Have fun with your company, Janet. The owl is s cute. Your menu should please everyone. Empathize on having to feed a picky eater. GS is the worse! He is in the lower percentiles of height for his age. The doctor just says he will eat when he is hungry...typical response and for most kids I agree, let them be or let them do without and they will either eat now or at the next meal!

Bren, animals get injured or sick at the worse times! Geezer looks better but I need to clean him up and check the wound later this afternoon. Hope Annie improves.

Hi Joce. Wiener schnitzel would hit the spot for sure! I like German cooking, esp. Rahm schnitzel....a white cream sauce over the schnitzel...if we can find a restaurant that makes it. The Hub, our only German one, no longer has it on the menu.

Today is clean the house and prepare for our visitors day.

We usually put some things up when we have visiting children, with our friend's dementia at a later stage, we have to be sure she is safe. Lock up or put away anything she could be hurt by, Had planned on wine and cheese later in the evening, a standard when they visit us or we visit them, but I think alcohol may not be the best thing to serve.

Time to get moving. See you later.

Good Morning Everyone! Wishing you all a good day.

Lunch sounds great Janet. I like the menu, perfect! and how cute on the Owl veggie tray.

Sorry to hear Annie tore a ligament Bren. It sucks when pets hurt themselves or don't feel well because they can't tell. Will you get the surgery done? when?
My sister loves eggs poached in tomato sauce. I never tried it and should someday but I can't wrap my head around the combination.

Have fun after Den's eye exam Joce. Wishing too all goes well with it. I love German food. We use to have some good restaurants in NJ but then they closed and there is nothing here is FL and I don't know why as we have a large German population that visits during the winter months.

I too hope Geezer gets better Karen or at least can hold his own till your company leaves. I hate when my phone and Ipad self correct. The self correct usually is worse than the spelling error (lol!). Substitute the wine with sparkling cider or something like it. I agree wine is not the best thing to serve if the mind is having trouble to begin with. DH thinks he should be able to have a drink ... I don't think so.

    Happy Birthday to Bri!

love the owl, cute! dinner sounds great. I slept better than the last few nights, I'm propped up on pillows. Yep, pete is doing all the wifely duties...at least his work is slow right now and the kids have no school next week.

poor annie, and your poor wallet!...does your vet have laser light treatment? it really helped jersey and it was cheaper than giving her pills.

hi joce, I didn't know that about morphine and itching. I was so itchy all over yesterday! they gave it to me in the iv with gravol. they have me on another antiflamm with pain killer, tarodol? and the t4s, but I will only take the t4s at night now, too groggy. yum on your lunch out!

    hi Karen, enjoy your visitors!
    hi Linda!

colter slipped on the ice and fell on his right arm. he cant move his wrist so pete took him to hosp. hopefully he won't have a break, two of us in slings...oy vey! it's been warm and melting, which meant icy this am. oh boy on all the snow out east and on the coast!!
I feel far less groggy today, but in more pain since the morphine wore off. I have ice on right now which helps. pete is going to make tacos for dinner.

Shona, if you are itching from morphine please call the Dr. If you allergic, itching is one symptom. They may have to change your med or at least monitor your reaction.

Boo on poor Colter's injury. Hoping it is not broken.

thanks Karen, i'll make sure to mention the reaction next time they want to give me morph. I'm on different pills now though and feel no itching anymore

colter has a cast on and has to go back 4 another xray on Monday, he has a bone chip on his wrist and they want 2 keep an eye on it. its a partial cast that they wrapped so he can it off to shower at least.

Sorry to hear about Colter Shona ... geez, you guys sure are having a rough time. Glad it is not a break if that's anything to feel glad about.

Yesterday I did slip DH a Xanax at lunch. He was so agitated the last couple days and I just need him to calm down. All that anxiety surely can't be good.
He goes to the doctor Tuesday and I'll ask her for the lowest dose and give as needed in his dinner. He's on the second lowest now, I could always cut the pill in half but it's such a tiny pill it's hard. I know when I need it my doctor gave me the lowest dose and it helps to take the edge off without clouding judgement or making me tired. I think he's better on the Xanax, more cooperative.
Not sure what is going on with his eyes. He doesn't seem to be complaining about them today but he had issues with them prior. The start of cataracts and changes just from aging.
He's being a pain today so I'll dose him at dinner. He won't work with his speech therapist today.

Sorry to hear that Annie has a hurt ligament Bren. :( Do they have to operate? Your Eggs poached in tomato sauce looks super neat. I can see why it'd be one of your daughter's favourites.

Hope you and Den had a fabulous lunch out Joce. Can't wait to hear all about it. Lovely spot. I just saw the Szekelly Crépe on Maxmillian's menu. Pork and sauerkraut with spicy cream sauce wrapped in a crepe. I think I'd just HAVE to have that. :)

Good luck with your housecleaning Karen.

Hi Linda! Sorry DH isn't being co-operative today. Take good care.

Taradol sounds like something I might have been given when I was passing kidney stones Shona. So glad you got a decent sleep and that Pete has time to be able to take on more of the household stuff. Oh goodness on Colter falling. You should start waving a surrender flag so nothing else happens. Do keep us tuned. A cast! Oh heavens. Bone chips can hurt for sure. Tacos sound delicious.

Lunch went well and I was quite pleased with my Owl veggie tray. I cut it close with timing. Was still in my pyjamas at 11:30 working out in the kitchen. Was dressed and everything prepped by 11:50, including my beef stew for dinner in the crockpot and then they showed up about 12:15. We had a lovely visit. The deer and the turkeys put on a good show outside. My girlfriend brought me a nice bouquet of flowers and her daughter a lovely bottle of red wine which was very sweet.

They left around 2:45. I got the kitchen all cleaned up again. Jim decided last night that he'd go for a ski today while I had friends over so he headed off to Calabogie Ski resort around 10:30. I made him his favourite egg salad sandwich with a bag of veggies and a pc. of fudge. (Fudge is one of the few sweets he'll actually eat).

And now I feel pooped. May go curl up next to the fire and read.

Put a pic of my owl veggie tray in my avatar. It looks a little more fierce than the picture from Pinterest. I could have made the carrots come down more around the outside of his eyes to meet his shoulders/wings. :) But I'm pleased with him.

That's a great looking menu, Joce. I'm sure that you enjoyed your lunch. I hope that the eye exam goes well.
Thanks Karen. I hope that Geezer heals quickly. Good luck with your cleaning and organizing. I would be stressed the entire time with your company.
Thanks Linda. The Vet isn't sure but thinks that she will need surgery, we are still waiting to hear back from them. Most people think that the egg dish is strange until they try it. I'm sorry that your still having such a hard time with DH. Hopefully things will settle down soon.
Oh my gosh Shona, your having a hard time lately. A bone chip can be very painful, poor Colter. Like Janet, I would start waving the white flag.
I love the avatar Janet. Super job!!
I'd best get the sauce started. Take care everyone.

Good evening all. Have not had a chance to read back the last week so forgive me for not being up on everything.

It's been a week now since diagnosed but our Charlie is still with us! He has lost weight and does not eat much. Dr. still thinks that he is really not in any pain. He may be uncomfortable at times, but no major pain. We are trying to feed him the best we can. Some days are better than others. It's funny, he seems to only want to eat my cooking, and really only a few bites but hey, one bite is something in his tummy. In the past he has really not been allowed table food. Only on certain occasions, depending on what it was. But the one thing that finally got him eating was my leftover meatloaf! Go figure! Then on Sunday I made a pot roast with potatoes and carrots in the crock pot. Darn if he didn't eat that up. I mushed it all up for him and hand fed him. Ate 2 whole handfuls! It's just hit and miss. Today he ate about 5 slices of ham (which was never allowed before) and then this evening daughter stopped by with grandson and Wendy's chicken nuggets in tow. Charlie ate 4! Again, something that would not normally be allowed! But hey, at this point, anything in his stomach is an extra day. So just going on from there. His passing is inevitable but we treat every day he greets us in the morning as a treasure!

With that being said, dinners now are with Charlie in mind, lol! Meaning no, won't be taco night for a while! Actually got a rotisserie chicken tonight and made a salad. Was good.

With all this with Charlie there have been 2 other major family issues take place. Can't go into those but everything will work out ok. It's true, it always happens in threes!

Hope all are doing well and going now to read back a bit and try to catch up.

    Sleep Sweet All...............as always.............
