Trimming Time Saturday

    Good morning!

We are getting hair cuts this afternoon. It is long overdue.

Goodness, Laurie, hope your mom continues to do well. Good your sister can fly down!

I woke up at four, tossed and turned, dozed and dreamed I was driving home in a red sedan, but the “shortcut” gravel road was under water. Weird dream. So I couldn’t get back to sleep and am curled up in my recliner with Mel on the arm and Mauser on my lap.

Yesterday Wayne and his buddy switched the washer and drier around, and changed the direction the drier door opened, so I can avoid twisting etc to switch clothes from washer, over washer and drier door, while hoping nothing falls on the floor. Washer now opens right to left, the drier left to right. Easy fix. Open doors, transfer laundry.

Traveler made another step toward trusting us. He still wouldn’t stay on the porch when I brought food out, but this time waited six feet around the corner instead of thirty feet away. There is hope yet.

GS’s new puppy is growing. It is adorable and everything is a game to the little beast. I can see signs of the two becoming good friends.

Enough rambling. Have a nice day!

You're playing with my head Karen!!!! LOLOLOLOL! Ugh on waking up at 4 a.m. I went to bed around midnight and was woken by scampering feet down the hallway, the toilet flushing and "THERE'S A DEER" shouts at 7 a.m. Would have appreciated one more little hour of snoozing, but......:) Nice Wayne and his friend changed the doors on the washer and dryer for you. I would never have thought of that. LOL. I must have missed hearing that your GS got a new puppy. What kind and what's it's name?

Making a nice roast Ham and mashed potatoes with gravy for dinner tonight. Asparagus on the side and Jim's cousin's wife brought along a head of cauliflower she wanted used up so she's going to prep and roast that for me.

Jim and his cousin and the two girls are going skiing at Calabogie today. Not sure what what Jim's cousin's wife and I are going to do. I'm hoping she wants to stay home and then maybe we'll go out for lunch etc. :)

    Wishing everyone a good day!

Good Morning and say WHAT???? Saturday ... you are not kidding Karen about not getting a good night's sleep. I went to bed thinking today was going to be Friday and was worried about getting up in time for a vendor we have coming @ 9:00 and letting the gate know.

What's with all the weird dreams ... must be something in the air. Janet was having weird ones, and you too Karen. Most often I don't even remember my dreams which may be a good thing. Sweet Traveler is starting to trust. I think one day he will. That's great about the washer and dryer doors and that Wayne and his friend were able to do that. Me too ... GS's puppy ... what kind?

Oh my on being woken a little too early Janet. Ham sounds wonderful for dinner. Roasted cauliflower is wonderful. Last time I made it I tossed in Olive oil, then sprinkled with Italian seasoned bread crumbs and parmesan cheese. Wow, was it good!

DH has an eye doctor appointment this afternoon. Just routine check. Will run some errands after and go out for an early dinner.

I'm so sorry to hear about your mom Laurie. And worse you are snowed in and not able to get down to be with her. Once air travel resumes will you make the trip? She is lucky to walk away with just a shattered elbow but still, it shouldn't have happened. So sorry.

Awesome to hear how well the chix turned out in the IP Kimmer. Are they hard to clean? I joined a FB page for them just to see the chatter and some people complained they were hard to clean and too something about the rings taking on cooking odors. I value your opinion more. Some people use products wrong and then blame the product.

Thanks for the feedback on the movies Janet. I'll have to look and see what The Three Billboards movie is even about, I haven't heard of that one but I did Peter Rabbit.

O.K. am I missing something, Karen? It is Thursday not Saturday right? Enjoy your hair cuts this afternoon. Glad you got your washer and dryer doors sorted out. I am sure Traveler will get better and better. I am glad GS's puppy is turning out well.

Too cute about being woken up by "THERE'S A DEER" Janet. Enjoy your lunch if you go.

Not much happening here. I will catch up later after my first coffee.

Morning! Wow, you definitely needed those few extra hours of sleep Karen lol! At first I thought I had no internet, which will put me back a few days on my searches. Traveler is making progress!! Glad you got your washer and drier in the correct order haha!!

Lol at the kiddos getting up early Janet. Enjoy whatever you end up doing today!

I've made cauliflower the way you have before Linda, SO GOOD!!

Not too much going on here, just puttering around the house. It's cold outside again, but I am holding off on turning the heater on. It's been so long it will probably stink. I bet it will warm up in a few hours so not worried. Pulling out some country ribs as it's the last of my meat. I thought we would have the cow and pig meat by now, but I haven't heard anything. I may have to go grab some things from the store to hold us over! We have a busy evening, so I'll cook them up early with some mashed potatoes and asparagus. Have a great day everyone!!

Hope the eye appointment goes well for your DH Linda! Just got an email from Benjamin this morning telling me he'd made cauliflower toast for the first time. I'm getting bombarded by cauliflower from all directions. LOLOL. Enjoy your dinner out.

Good to see you Joce. :) Yes, Jim and his cousin and the girls just headed off and his cousin's wife and I are going to go for a walk and then head into town. We'll go out for lunch and she also wants to go to Costco. Hurray. :)

Yum on country ribs Michelle. How are you going to prepare them?

Very pleased to hear "Peter Rabbit" was good, Janet

Your poor Mom, Laurie! I am sure glad she is in the hospital being taken care of and that your sister was able to fly out! I hope she has a speedy recovery. Good Grief I hope you don't get all that snow. The storm indicators say it is going to be another big one.

I hope your DH has a good eye appointment, Linda. I also follow how well products stand up and the reviews sometimes are quite valid. I have heard some Instant Pots actually melt!

Good to hear you are just puttering around the house today, Michelle. Then you can prepare for your busy evening.

Wayne is going to do the driving this afternoon. I just informed him. Ha ha.

Must have been thinking one day and typing the other. Or my iPad is possessed——which is a possibility.... ha ha. Unfortunately there is no way to change the title. Or is there?

You must have city folk visiting, Janet, to get so excited in the morning when a deer strolls by. I don’t sleep well, or at least sleep lighter, when we have company stay over. Otherwise toilets flushing or footsteps or doors closing don’t register.

    Hi Linda, Joce, Michelle.

Puppy is an eleven week old Shelty and is named Jasper. Don’t blame me, I had no input into the name choice. LOL! He is adorable. Very sociable. Tricolor and cute. We will puppy and GS sit overnight in April so he will have to deal with cats. They tend to ignore him or glare down at him from anywhere out of reach.

Fixing kielbasa for lunch with celery, potatoes, onion, and peppers. I think. Unless the guys want pasta. Am out of pasta sauce so would have to improvise. Or ??? Probably eat out after haircuts this evening.

Hi Joce!! What's on your menu tonight?

I had to Google cauliflower toast Janet lol. Sounds delicious, I pinned a recipe for it :) I just baked the country ribs in a sauce of ketchup, brown sugar, mustard powder, garlic, ginger. Smelled good while baking!! We will eat it when I get home from picking up Caiden then head to the fields.

Awww, Jasper sounds super cute Karen :D.

    Hi everyone.
Mom had her surgery this morning. My sister should get there tonight. I won’t fly out because I already had a scheduled trip out in two weeks. She doesn’t need all of us. My niece went with my sister. She is 26 and was very upset about my mom. They are very close as my sister had her in high school so she was raised for the first 10 years with my mom.
I have no power it is freezing lol. I had gf pizza and regular pizza delivered.
Lol I didn’t even notice the Saturday title!
I’m so jelous of the instant pot.

Good evening and hello to all. Late getting here. Hubs wanted to go get a bite to eat right after work to avoid the wait lines. It worked as we walked in and were seated right away. He behaved and stayed within his calorie count. I have to say, he is trying and doing well.

I read about the Instant Pot leaving odors on the rim Linda before I bought one. It was recommended by a few people that you buy extra rims and use one for regular foods and then the other for spicy foods. They said that when using stronger spicy spices like cumin, chili powder, cayenne, etc.... that it will leave that odor on the rim. I have noticed every time a mild odor of whatever I cooked, whether spicy or not, remains on the rim. Not as bad once I do a I wash around the lid and the rim. And even though it may still be faintly there, so far, I have not noticed it interfering with any flavor or changing any flavor of what I have just cooked. I suppose the true test for that might be when I get around to making the cheese cake I want to do. I had planned it a few weeks ago but when I finally got around to it my strawberries had gone south and didn't want just a plain cheesecake with no toppings. But again, I have gone from ribs, to plain chick breasts, to pot roast, to beef and rice, to boiled eggs, to more chicken and all have tasted only like it should. When I bought mine I did buy extra rims because of that. But once I got the pot I thought that is a pain in the you know what if I have to change rims every time I cook something different. Which could be daily. But I am glad I bought the extra rims anyway because I'm sure over time they wear out. As far as clean up, I have no idea what anyone would be talking about if they say it is hard to clean. Perhaps they don't know how to do dishes, lol! It is not! And is also dishwasher safe. I generally just put some soapy water in the pot and clean it right up. Even last night when I seared the chicken first, it came clean right away. Maybe if you let it sit for days I could see it being a bit harder like any other dish or pan. I have put mine in the dishwasher and it does just fine that way too. Usually though I just go ahead and clean it up so I can get the machine back together and since I bought the 8quart size, the pot does take up quite a bit of space in the dishwasher, especially after a full meal.

Going to go watch some mindless TV before bed. Hope all have enjoyed their evening.

    Sleep Sweet All..............as always...............

Jasper sounds really sweet Karen. I googled what a Shelty was and to me they look like Border Collies?

I think it's great the family can stagger their visits to your Mom Laurie. She'll need help for a little bit.OH NO on your power being out. Hope it's back on by now. Do you have an alternate heat source that doesn't require electricity?

Again Kimmer, good to hear you love your Instapot so much. You've utilized it a lot.

Everyone on our end had a good day, some at the ski hill and then us shopping and lunch. Went to Fratelli's for lunch.

    http://www.kanata.fratelli.ca/menu/

I had the Carpaccio and she had the Beet Goat Cheese salad.

Had a good shop at Costco. I bought a jar of mangoes which looks most delicious. All peeled and cut which is nice as I find it a bit of a pain to do with that big pit in there.

We just finished dinner which went really well and now we too are watching some mindless TV and sitting in front of the fire.

We have hair cuts done and over with. Yay! Looked at shower possibilities at Lowe’s and the onyx collection has a gorgeous blue metallic that I really like. You can get a bench seat, shelves, bars, etc as you wish. Also matching vanity tops if you like, and graphic inlays for the sink.....the deer and the running horses appeal to me! Or even deer tracks running across the top and thru the sink! Love it!

Wayne and his buddy start working on the cutout for the linen closet tomorrow. Which is Friday at last look. We will get accordion doors for it. Finally can get my towels out of the plastic keepers in our bedroom closet.

I think my iPad has been possessed. LOL I had to edit the posts a few times to compensate for creative substitutions. Not counting the title.i should post FRIDAY IS NOT SATURDAY tomorrow....ha ha.
