Try Try Try again Thursday

Up early for the blood work. Fred is getting his done as well. Could be a Thursday Two-fer.

Pulled a little beef roast out for supper (STICKER SHOCK)! Going to stud it with garlic, rub it with mustard and roast. Sliced tomatoes, Easy Zucchini and ice cream (bourbon peach for Fred), lime freezer pop for me.

Have a great day my friends, stay cool.
A.C. give Karen a break today, my furry friend. No running in the heat for anyone.

Liv still hasn't sent me a pic of the peppers. I hope they are in the frig.
I want to see the movie "The Hundred Foot Journey". I saw Helen Mirren twerking!!!! LOL not in the movie, but on a talk show promoting the movie. She is my movie star crush!

    Our musical interlude.....love it.

Oops. I'm usually SO good about checking for other threads first thing in the morning Tina but guess who didn't today? Sorry bout that. :(
Your dinner sounds amazing. I too soooo want to see that movie! LOL @ the giggle pictures. :) Love the song. I'll let you copy and paste my post over here and then block mine since you have the power to do that. :) I'll have some Bourbon Peach ice cream right now if you're offering. That's another thing my SIL gave me in the bag of goodies from Alaska....."Santa's Bourbon Sauce" from the North Pole! How fun is that! :)

Your mustard garlic rubbed beef roast sounds super!

A.C. is apparently listening to you. He is laying quietly on the floor near Homer, my Aussie, who is out cold. Homer had his morning outing - a quick one because it is RAINING!!! and is ready to crash for the morning. Mel is back from hiding - no recent thunder, which terrifies him. He is using the scratching post, being GOOD. A.C. is lying there NOT learning anything reference scratching posts. He will not stop scratching the recliner through the cover because he knows the knobby material is underneath. Grrrr!

Woke up this morning to the sound of rain and thunder. Supposed to get about 1.5 inches. We need it.

The roaming raccoons were back last night. Our two elderly cats and the two coons were staring each other down just inches away. No hostilities erupted but I am not thrilled. I may have to change how I feed the cats, but the old kitties like to munch off and on so removing it in the evening is not real cool.

Janet's post pulled over to this thread.....

Good Morning Everyone! Sooooo busy yesterday I didn't get to come back on! Fun though and dinner went well. Tonight I'm making
    Beef Dip
with a tossed salad on the side.
I'm bringing our guests down town today and taking them to see the RCMP Marching Band as they make their way up to Parliament Hill as well as the Canadian Museum of Nature. My SIL has requested a Chinese Restaurant for lunch so that should prove easy enough.
I worked my little buns off yesterday and had things pretty much under control by 4 p.m. when our guests rolled in.
You make me giggle a bit with your aversion to goat cheese Michelle. You must have had a bad experience but I promise you there are mild flavoured goat cheeses. To me, goat cheese is substantially more mild than feta. :) 5 out of the 8 goat cheese coins I made got eaten so I think that's pretty good. There was sooo much food. I made too much. But as my Mom always taught me "Better too much than not enough". :) Glad to hear Caiden made out well in the pool yesterday. I know I've heard of 'Paleo' but I am totally not familiar with it so will have to google it. How did you Sesame Chicken salad turn out?
Yes Tina, I saw the Salty Balls recipe and bookmarked it thanks. It is an amusing name. I'd like to try that. Thanks for the Horseradish pickle recipe. I pinned it. My SIL brought me a bunch of goodies from Alaska and in the haul was an "Alaska Wild Fire Mustard" that contains three types of peppers and horseradish. Ya baby! :) LOL!
I hope you had a good sleep Joce and that you don't hurt too much this morning after your cleaning craze yesterday. :)
Sorry your joints are giving you grief Laurie.
Sending you cool breezes from Ontario Karen. :) Heat does make one irritable! Good luck tractor shopping today.
Marie...you doing okay? How is your parent's well?
Must run. Wishing everyone a great day.

We got about an inch of rain from the other day...everyone here was so very happy:)

I have some things to get done here in the office and I need to do a little grocery shopping this morning as well..Rick went to the Farmer's Market the other morning so we have veggies galore! I want to make some pesto for bruschetta..I thought that would be pretty yummy along with fresh tomatoes and garlic &fresh basil..we love basil so hopefully pesto and fresh won't be too overpowering:)

    Not sure about dinner :)

I hope everyone has a most wonderful day!

Marie, so happy you had some rain....and the well is still in working order. I wish I had veggies galore without the sticker shock! Fred can't believe the price of the veggies and he says, "Good thing, I don't like them." But I do!! Hope the bruschetta is yummy for lunch.

I'm still trying to get all the doctor's appointments scheduled and get results shared.
    Take care.

Oooh - RCMP band must be wonderful to see.

And we are eating out tonight after doing paperwork for the tractor so Chinese sounds good if Wayne is up for it. Then again, it might be good to wait until we are near the Bulgogi House and he can enjoy bulgogi. So maybe Applebees or ??

Have a nice dinner out, Karen. Good luck on the tractor.
Janet, the tour director of the finest kind! Sounds like a great day is planned. I agree the RCMP would be a great sight to see.
    I want lemonade!

Hi everyone!! Your roast sounds like it's going to be wonderful Tina!! Hope Liv get's you those peppers before they go bad, I hate to waste good food!!
That's the one thing I don't miss about our cat Karen is the kneading and scratching of paws on the furniture, could drive a person CRAZY!!! Sounds like you got some decisions to make for a dinner spot :)
What fun you and your guest are going to have today Janet! Yes I hate my aversion to goat cheese, I want to like it so bad!! I tried some on a puff pastry pizza she made for appy's at our last get together to see if my taste buds had changed, and they hadn't :( It wasn't as horrible as I remember though, but she said it was a pretty mild goat cheese. OH WELL! Have a nice day with your friends!
The sesame chicken salad was delicious! I don't think sesame sauce is Paleo, but I used such a small amount I went for it, it's way to hard to be 100% Paleo. I did make my own hoisin sauce though. For lunch today I made http://www.perrysplate.com/2014/07/let-eat-kale-review.html#more-6457 and topped it with tomato sauce veggies and an egg cooked in coconut oil :) I know some of you are saying YUCK! But it was good lol! Not sure what dinner is.... only cooking for myself and the kiddos.... slow day today, just started raining so I guess perfect time to get some clothes folded! Have a good day!!

I have started to sub coconut oil when I can. I used the coconut oil in the bran banana muffins. I love baked eggs with ratatouille. Those fancy little dishes I bought for creme brulee make a great vehicle for baking eggs in a sauce. I know Mario Batali showed eggs baked in a "spicy tomato" sauce that looked great.

Oh, I forgot about the kitty shredding the furniture tendency. Our cats were indoor/outdoor and they shredded the trees instead of our furniture.

Rain for Michelle and Karen.....good for both of you. I hope Marie gets some more rain too.
We have had lots of thunder but no action in the rain category.

So glad both Karen & Michelle are getting rain! It's so refreshing and all on my outdoor plants are happy:)

Decided on meatloaf, mashed potatoes & gravy & salad for dinner..I'll use one of the bell peppers Rick picked up at the FA:)

Out internet bill went up $18 per month (it's already expensive enough!)..we had a promo deal going for the last year..I called (4 times) to see if there were any more promos available..the first guy I couldn't understand..so I said goodbye..called a few minutes later and a girl (she sounded very young) didn't seem to "get" out acct #...she acted like I was from Mars..and then she disconnected me..then I called back, got a guy who sounded like he didn't give a &$!# that I was experiencing trouble with the other reps...so I said bye and called one more time:-D They are surely getting sick of me..anyhoo, the last man was very helpful..and there aren't any promos at the time..how hard was that..I was about ready to totally go some where else...I must be hard of hearing, because these people all seemed to be mumbling!!!
Argh!!!!!! I just don't have any patience with stupidity ..uh oh..FSW is baaaaaccck:-D

Tina, yes, veggies can be expensive, we like to shop around the FA..and get the better deals! The bruschetta was delish..I didn't make pesto, it was good with just the fresh basil..yum yum!

Glad to hear you are getting some rain Karen.
Glad to hear the well is doing okay for the time being Marie. Yum on your haul from the Farmer's Market.
And rain for you as well Michelle! Glad the sesame chicken salad was yummy.
Jim and Benjamin like eggs in tomato sauce, me not so much.
    No Joce today?
Just got home a bit ago and I'm sleepy! :) Had fun walking alongside the Marching Band up to Parliament Hill. Had brekkie at McDonald's and then spent a few hours at the Museum of Nature. The girls liked the dinosaur exhibits the best. :) Lunch at a Chinese Restaurant totally hit the spot. I got a bunch of dim sum stuff, dumplings, etc. and then there was General Tso's chicken, a Spicy Beef Noodle dish and some fried rice. We were all stuffed when we left. Ran a few errands and picked up a couple of movies. The Crockpot is doing a good job minding dinner. :)

SP Marie. I hear you on having to deal with people on the phone over such matters. I have to do that once a year with our Phone/TV bundle. And...our Internet company has started charging if you upload/download over a certain amount. We paid an extra $4? last month which isn't a lot but still....and the most aggravating thing is we don't even get the download speed we pay for in the first place. But they are the only Internet Provider in our area so they pretty much have us over a barrel.

Janet, I just get so irritated having to deal with customer service reps..it sure isn't like it used to be..they seem unknowledgeable and I don't understand what they are saying..it's like they have the phone or headset speaker stuck in their mouth..like I said, it could be my hearing, but...really don't think so. We do have other options but they don't seem much cheaper..and then we'd have to change out internet address yada yada yada :)
That's not right, not getting the download speed when you're paying for it! Too bad you only have the one provider..that doesn't give you any options at all:( I have calmed down which is a good thing..guess it didn't help that I spilled my Bruschetta topping all over the kitchen floor right before I opened the mail...LOL So I had to make another batch..oh vey:)

Marie, I have a huge case of the dropsies lately. Just can't seem to hold a bowl, a book or a cup. I hate it when an agent isn't helpful. Of course, I've been on the other end with the customers who can't speak clearly. I think cell phones are just causing a lot of trouble too. The connection with feed back or a speaker phone is impossible to clearly hear someone. Sorry that you had such an aggravating afternoon.

I feel so yucky our gently massaged beef roast is sitting in the frig until tomorrow. It won't hurt it at all...that garlic will permeate it well. I got some chicken stock out of the freezer, some egg noodles, a pack of mixed veg from the freezer, some leftover chopped up chicken thighs fished out of the kidney beans from yesterday, so soup is it.

Janet, when you used to make Benjamin's tofu, did you always press it before frying it? I have a block of firm and I was going to cube it, fry it, add it to leftover rice with some chopped up kimchee (the little bit I salvaged). I have not done much with tofu and I thought I always had to press it for a long time? Thanks for the help.

Dropsies must be weather connected? LOL. At the commissary yesterday I dropped the coupon I was using, a box of ??, a can of cat food, and on and on and on until I was ready to call it quits.

We pay for DSL but the speed isn't so high. This is our second provider - the first was not customer friendly and not helpful. The second was a royal pain to deal with to get the DSL but when Wayne is determined he will find a way. There are only 2 satellite providers - we will not go back to Direct TV and Dish can be annoying to deal with. The so-called service person insisted he had to have written information about wires buried by the house. Could not get him to understand that 1: There are no underground anythings in this county, and 2: There is no one to call to get authorization because, 3: There are no underground wires in this area --- etc. etc.

The CSA box had cantaloupe, watermelon. asparagus, grapes, squash, spaghetti squash, potatoes, eggs, peppers, hot peppers, tomatoes, blueberries, cucumber, and zucchini. I thought I saw a recipe for watermelon jelly online....hmmm! Tomorrow I will figure out something to fix with some pork, maybe using some of the above. Our daughter loves the produce we don't plan to use, Wayne's buddy likes the cucumbers.

We ate at Colton's. The usual - medium rare sirloin, salad, one side. The tractor comes on Tuesday. The sales guy is going to an auction or two and will look at the balers up for sale to see if they are good and not too expensive.

We are tired - having a cup of coffee. Typing one handed with Mel on my arm. So i better call it quits. Take care.
