T&T Thursday

Good Morning Everyone! I'm quite pumped this morning as I have a fun day ahead of me. Jim and I are meeting up with my girlfriend to go and bottle some wine. We made a batch of an inexpensive red to use in Sangria this summer. After bottling the wine we're going for lunch at Bambuu.
    http://restobambu.com/
And then for a shop at T&T, Ottawa's largest Asian Supermarket. It's 51,000 sq. ft. of cool stuff! :) I haven't been for a long time so I'm very excited to go have a good shop. Nothing on the docket for dinner. Think I'll just pick up something there.
Ugh on the game last night Tina. It was a slow one too. I wasn't surprised that Ben Bishop didn't play. The back up goalie did very well really.
That's nice that you and Sophia got to go out for lunch and shopping yesterday Shona. Hope you enjoyed the Chicken.
Gonna make Egg McMuffins for breakfast.
Wishing everyone a really great day!

Morning! Oh wow, what a day you have ahead of you Janet! What a menu that restaurant has, I can't decide what I would get! I just know your going to have a blast at the Asian market today :)

Probably going to get out into the garden today and get some weeds pulled. Also need to clean the toilets. I have a recital meeting to go to tonight and we will be eating the last of the gumbo from Sunday. Have a great day everyone!!

Hope Liv gets a good rest and hope you have a good day Tina.
I really wish I wasn't heading off on Saturday Michelle, and then I'd be able to buy a bunch of veggies and such as well today. Have fun out in your garden. Ugh on cleaning toilets. I hate that job.
    Heading off.

Hi Michelle. Mr flowerbeds ne Ed weeding too, may or may not get to them. Am on coffee cup number three!

We had to go to town to get hydraulic oil for the tractor - it is leaking fluid, probably at a seal but since he is driving nine miles, baling three acres, then driving back, on the tractor! he got extra plus twine, just in case he ran out. His phone may or may not work there, so better safe than sorry. Had breakfast at Waffle House,

Janet, enjoy your Asian store shopping trek. The pictures look great. I would love it. We have a Bam Bu restaurant in Springfield, it is not a franchise that I know of, but the name similarity struck me. This one is Vietnamese cooking, it is lighter than Chinese (at least in this restaurant, I am NO expert except for my Gourmet Vietnamese egg roll recipe). If I find where I put it, will have to post it on GR.

Tina, sorry the game was slow. Sunny and hot here, maybe rain tomorrow we need it.

OK so it is time my kittens had their first bath! The few fleas they picked up needed eradication so in consideration of their youth I used a mild detergent and did one at a time in the bathroom sink. They were remarkably calm even when rinsed in warm water. Mauser is now on my lap and Trouble is beside me, the purring is loud enough to hear across the room. Now to change shirts so I can clean the sink!

    Good morning/afternoon!
The chicken was great Janet!! Pete couldn't stop raving about it! He was worried that I might not know how to make it again, so he franticly said "You should write this down, print it out, you're gonna make this again right?" Haha! I told him not to worry, it's not my recipe, and I have it saved on GR and printed out! ;) He picked all the chicken off the bones after we were done dinner, he didn't want to waste a thing. Even the kiddo ate every bite! I added some herb and olive oil potatoes to the last hour of cooking too. I tried twice last night to put it on IMI, after writing it all out and adding a pic, the screen went blank and it said webpage no longer exists! Frustrating! I'll try again in a few minutes.
Tonight I'm making Petes Epic Pork Chops and I'll add a pic to that recipe this time.
Sophia's hearing test yesterday went great. Her left ear is functioning normally, her right ear isn't as great (where she had mastoiditis) but it's just at the cusp of the normal range for kids, so we needn't worry. No need for a hearing aid. Pheww!
I think I'll take the dogs to the park today. We haven't taken Jersey out since she was attacked, and I am a little worried about her reactions with other dogs. She's been a little more hyper and reactive in the car when I take the kids to school, and to people walking behind our property. But the vet said it's good to get her back out. I just don't want her to provoke an attack. Deep breath in and out, I have to remain calm too, ha!
    Have a great day everyone!

SP Tina! Bummer on the game :(

Hi Karen! Hhhmm I haven't been to waffle house in ages even though we have one practically walking distance. They always make the bacon just right :) Too cute at the little wet kitties Karen, surprised they weren't freaking out!

That chicken looks awesome and I'm sitting here trying to think if I have anything big enough to do a brine in and if the pot would fit in the fridge! Those pork chops look yummy too, I have some in the freezer just waiting for that recipe :) So glad Sophia's hearing test went great! Have fun at the park :)

I was not able to get near what I wanted done in the garden. It was SO HOT! The sun was just beating down on me, so I got the main things I wanted to get done, cleaning up the tomato plants and trimming them and picking weeds that were right around the plants and herbs. Picked 4 beautiful tomatoes while I was out there and a couple of cherry tomatoes. Have 2 Japanese eggplants that are almost ready to pick. Okra is going insane. Everyone was really impressed Sunday when we all went out there to pick okra for our gumbo :) Okay Ashley just texted me to come over and tan our legs together lol, guess it won't hurt since I'm already sweaty! Gotta run!

    Lost my post! GRRRR

The new clorox toilet wands are my new favorite tool. No messy toilet bowl brush hanging around.

Dinner to be determined. Maybe black beans and rice. La Feria Salad. Fish tacos?

I guess it goes without saying that you had waffles at the "Waffle House" Karen? :) Did you have reg. ones with syrup or something fancier? Every time someone mentions waffles I get a craving. LOL @ the kittens first bath.
I'm tickled you liked the Lemon Brined chicken recipe Shona. It's a favourite of mine. Good Luck with taking Jersey out for a walk. It probably is best to get her back used to that.
I use an ice cream sized plastic bucket to brine my chicken in Michelle. I read that you can buy big Ziplock bags and use that as well. They say not to use aluminum or cast iron to brine in as it imparts a metallic taste to the meat but that stainless or enamel coated is fine. That's fun you got to pick Okra from your garden. It sounds like your garden is doing great.
I'll have to check out the chorox toilet wands Tina. Not sure if I've seen them. Yes on Le Feria salad and fish tacos. :)
Had a fun day. Got our wine bottled and then went for lunch. I had a Dim Sum combination. Spring rolls, sticky rice, shu mai and some spicy chicken bits in thai chili sauce.
Had a fun shop at T&T too. (Forgot the ampersands look funny on the thread title!)
I got a nice big container of Kimchi, some lemongrass, two pkgs. of frozen soup dumplings that we've never tried, frozen potstickers, some beef short ribs and then for dinner some BBQ pork and Jim chose some spicy squid.
Gotta go do a bit more mowing before the rain starts tomorrow morning.

    Hi again.

Janet, I did not order waffles - ha ha. My usual is grits, scrambled eggs with cheese, raisin toast, and bacon, and of course coffee. Wayne is the waffle addict and likes the pecan waffles. Too much sweet syrup for me, although the toast and grits are high carb which is about as bad.

Tina, I have not had fish tacos, since living in the Midwest most of my life has been pork-beef-chicken-burger-spaghetti! Seafood is either fresh water fish or trucked in / frozen lobster or crab. Being an adventurous soul, I will try them if I ever make it to the coast. Harry Potter's Diagonal Alley still calls, just probably not this fall.

The kitties are recovered. Trouble did fine. Mauser shivered so I wrapped her in a towel and held her until she warmed up. They were not traumatized at all, but the next time they will recognize the bath prep, and be harder to catch. I save the "Here, kitty, kitty, kitty" for food time, so she they go outside they will come thinking that it must be dinner time. Or so that is the plan. They a hoot! Wayne calls them the evening entertainment, esp. when zilch is on the boob tube!

    Hi Shona and Michelle.
