good morning everyone! i have finished my morning coffee and am snuggling up next to the fireplace in the family room. it's not that cold out (yet) but it's gray and blustery. hope you have safe travels to your appointment today joce. sending good thoughts.

feel like comfort food for dinner but haven't thought of exactly what yet.

i think i mentioned that my niece, her baby and boyfriend are driving down from welland on friday to visit jim and i for the weekend. today i am going to make two desserts
    Frozen Mint Chocolate Mousse
    Philly Fruit Clouds
to have ready down in the freezer. jim's going to do some housecleaning.

did anyone else used to read the little lulu and tubby comics when they were young? i'd forgotten all about tubby until i searched the word on google images! :)

I recall Lulu but not Tubby. But then my youth was a long time ago. LOL.

Your desserts sound wonderful. If I had to entertain with a broken arm, they would probably get Chinese take-out. Ha ha. Just kidding. When I had my arm in a sling, we had some workers to feed, and I did manage! Forgot now what I fixed. Probably spaghetti with a litttle aid in draining the pasta.

Haven't figured out the Activity level requirements - we are usually low or medium, even with lots of comments. I guess it has something to do with the # of "threads" - no idea where that question came from! Just curious, I guess.

    Have a good day.

Haha, my first thought seeing the title was the Tele Tubbies!!! Sophia watched that a few times when she was a baby ;) I've never seen the Tubby comic's.
How was your sleep Janet? I hope your bed was most comfortable! Yum, perfect desserts to make ahead. I applaud you and your hosting! And Jim for being such a good helper too :)
Hi Karen, I think the activity is in chronological order, of the most active post's. I'm sure the more threads there are- means there is more "active users", so it pushes it up.
The store was out of Pot-stickers, so we got this frozen Asian party pack with pot-stickers, spring rolls, egg rolls and pork dumplings. It was pretty good. We went to the little store by our house yesterday. So hopefully I'll make it into town today to get some more grocery's and household things.
I picked up some mushrooms so I can make this again Chicken Breasts With Garlic And Balsamic Vinegar
Have a great day everyone! :)

hi karen! jim's been awesome helping me out in the kitchen although it is extremely humbling NEEDING the help. :( i know i'm lucky and should feel more grateful but i'm impatient to be mobile and independent again. today is a 'feeling sorry for myself' day. :) i have never paid attention to the activity status ever. and the only thing i'm mildly curious about is a) does someone really actually maintain this site anymore and b) why was it first started and what was its aim. and oh! who the heck is Cibacon from birmingham, alabama that likes virtually every recipe that has ever been posted on gr?
hi shona. my sleep was okay. certainly a lot better than the recliner but i got my blankets messed about and couldn't sort them out properly with one hand. i slept in the guest room with a pillow for my broken arm to rest on. fun-fun on your asian party pack! oh ya...thanks for reminding me about that balsamic chicken recipe. i really want to try it. i'm SO bad about saving recipes and then totally forgetting about them.

I've had the same curiosities Janet!
Since Kristopher hasn't been around, I wonder if he still runs the site or if he sold it? Since there are no ads on the site, they must be selling our emails for money? A little research showed that this site is worth a little over $500,000, but I couldn't find out who owns it.(I did that awhile ago when I started getting a bunch of spam to my email after I first joined) But all in all I feel safe on here, there isn't a bunch of personal info to gather like Facebook and now Allrecipes is doing. (by collecting your search history and where you live to give you a more 'personalized' experience!) So if I get a bit of spam I'm ok with it. It would be nice to know if there is actually someone taking care of the site though! :)
That's good you got a better sleep! Those potato balls look so neat!
Off to town now, ciao for now :)

ya, no ads is a bit weird. i don't remember getting spam when i first joined and i don't now, but of course i don't have the greatest memory and that's going back 5? years now, so.....:) have a fun jaunt to town shona!
still snowing lightly. got the mousse made and the philly clouds are next. i found 2 picture frames at walmart yesterday for $12/each so can get my prints hung up this afternoon. :)

I have not gotten too much spam but then I just throw it in the SPAM folder and let Yahoo take care of it. GR doesn't seem to have generated it but then who knows! The only GR problem I dislike tremendously is the lack of monitoring the "scam" - so-called groups that only advertise a company or product or "dating service" (ahem!) and clutter up the site. Ah well, that is the least of my problems (ha ha). I feel relatively safe here, also, Shona. And love chatting with people from all over the world.

FB is something else.. I do get tired of political party "shares", esp. the ones that say "Candiate XXX is..." and call him/her every derogatory name in the book, etc., and the posting of graphic pictures. I have clicked on delete and block for so-o-o-o many sites it is pitiful.

Janet, I never thought of Cibacon but guess he / she likes a lot of recipes. Ha ha. Do wonder sometimes who / where some of the people are who haven't posted in over 8 years. Glad you are progressing! I can understand the need for being independent. When I had foot surgery it was extremely frustrating. Wayne had to go on TDY and a kind neighbor would come and feed the horse for me for the week he was away!

Okay, laundry is calling - if I don't put it away I will never find the bed.

i think a lot of people join a site such as this but then tire of it and don't keep it up. plus, it happened just before i signed on, but i know there was a big nasty period for a while and that probably chased a lot of people away. Had to google TDY Karen. :) good luck with the laundry!
desserts are made and pictures hung. i had hot dogs for lunch and i've prepped the chicken.
