Tuesday is Terrific

    Yippee!
It is back! (Earlier than usual, but back at last.)
The deer has returned. No marks or wounds or evidence of having had any difficulties.
I guess it just didn't feel like eating corn yesterday. OR something.
Terrific news and feeling good as I watch from the sun room.

good morning everyone! it's a beautiful morning here in our nation's capital! -9C/48F. clear blue sky and brilliant sunshine. jim's pond froze like glass overnight so he's going to head out for a skate after breakfast.

i have my book chat at the library this afternoon and then jim and i have to run into town for some supplies including a pitstop at costco.

sens game on this evening and we're going to try our hand at making fish tacos for dinner for the first time.

So excited! There is a honey farm here in town. I usually get their honey from the local butcher shop In town but apparently you can go there and get the honey and fresh eggs! I just messaged them and they said they are open 4-7 because maple season started early and apparently you can buy fresh maple syrup as well!! Like 10 minutes from my house? She said when I get there go to the sugar house out back. Pretty sure it's gonna be expensive not sure how much cash to bring lol. I know the eggs are $5 a dozen. How much do you think syrup will be?
Tonight's dinner is roasted chicken baked potato and a veg not sure what lol

i'm very envious of your honey farm laurie. wish i was closer and could go visit it with you. jim and i are out of honey at the moment. i just checked our local maple syrup place and 500ml in a plastic jug (so the equivalent of 2 cups or 16 oz. approx.) is going for $19. yikes. but keep in mind that's our low canadian dollar. nice on your season starting early. ours says they'll be opening in 2 weeks. gotta remember and then head out there mid-week to avoid the crowds and take a stroll around. your dinner sounds yummy.

Glad to hear it is back, Karen.
Have fun at your book chat, Janet. I am sure it will be fun even though you didn't care for the book.
Nice you have a honey farm so close to you, Laurie. I never buy Maple Syrup at a Maple Syrup place as it is usually more expensive their. I buy mine at the grocery store when it goes on sale and when I have built up points to cash in to pay for my purchases. A liter 1000 ml sells in the grocery store for about $19.00 here.
I am still trying to decide what dinner will be. I have a hair appointment this afternoon. Maybe I can pick something up after that?

Yay! I'm so happy the Deer came back Karen!!

Sounds like a lot of colds going around! Pete woke up sick too, very bad sore throat and stuffy nose. I hope you feel better soon Michelle! I hope no one else gets sick**Knock on wood**.!

Glad the pond froze so well for Jim, enjoy the book chat (even if you didn't like the book, hehe) Go Sens Go!

That's so cool you have fresh honey and Maple syrup close by Laurie! It can be expensive, but it's so worth it! When you have the real stuff, a little goes a long way so I find it lasts us awhile :) Our local honey is pricey too, but we use a lot. Pete's mom brings us a 1/2 gallon bucket of honey for around $40Can-->$28 USD I'm not sure about Maple syrup as I'm out West and probably pay more than Janet and Joce do :)

Hi Joce, I don't know what's for dinner yet either? I have chicken breasts or a roast. Will have to do a recipe search. I'm in a cooking rut!

It's -9c and lightly snowing. And we're in for more snow this week. I'm guessing the groundhog will be predict a longer winter! I'm finally home, all alone...what to do, what to do...it's been a long time since the house was quiet :) Off to look at recipes, I need some inspiration!

    Have a good day everyone!

Hi all!! Glad the deer came back Karen, yay!

Cool that you have a pond that you can skate on Janet, I've never seen anything like that!! Good for you at giving a go at making fish tacos, I'm sure they'll turn out delicious. Enjoy your Sens game :)

Cool on the honey farm Laurie, I would LOVE that!!!

Hi Joce, good luck at the hair appointment :) I feel like I've been in the rut of not knowing whats for dinner for a while now, I really need to make a plan out for the week today.

Enjoy your time alone while it last Shona, the kids will be home from school soon lol :)

I feel 1000% better today. I slept on the couch last night so I didn't keep Michael up if I started talking in my sleep again. I don't mind the couch at all, sometimes find I sleep better there than in my bed lol. I passed out early, about 10pm then woke up at 5am wide awake and feeling refreshed. I'm not a morning person, so it was a little weird for me. Got the kids off to school, went to the gym and did a light work out (didn't want to overdo it) then went and picked up Bri's birthday gift. It's this ring that she has been eye balling for a while now

So I can't wait to surprise her with it :) Made Michael a huge batch of breakfast sandwiches that I will freeze for him in the mornings. I pulled out some smoked sausage for dinner and really didn't know what to do with it, and just decided on a chicken and sausage gumbo, so I pulled out some chicken that I have thawing in the sink in cold water. Off to tackle some clothes, enjoy the day everyone :)

So glad you feel better Michelle! That's a really cute ring for Bri :) Yum, love chicken and sausage gumbo. You'll probably be ready for bed at 10pm tonight too ;)

I did some laundry and made banana bread, and still have an hour before I pick up the kids. This day is loooong, haha. I think I'll make this tonight, Chicken Breasts With Garlic And Balsamic Vinegar with a rice pilaf.

Shona, I buy President's Choice pure Maple Syrup and it goes on sale quite a few times throughout the year. I think the regular price for it is around $9.99 for 500ml. The last time I bought some more was about three weeks ago and I stocked up on it as it was on sale for $6.99 for 500ml. It is in a nice bottle as well.

Sorry to hear Pete is feeling under the weather:(
I am glad to hear you are feeling much better today:) I think Bri will love her present. It is a very nice ring.
It feels SO much better now that my hair is cut. We are going to have Old Fashion Stuffed Pork Tenderloin for dinner with cheesy scalloped potatoes for dinner.

It wasn't as expensive as I thought it would be. I got a dozen eggs, a medium sized 12oz jug of syrup and a 16 oz jar of honey and it came to $26
I'm relaxing on couch now. I miss Tina

Well, back home and the store bought lasagna is in the oven because I am too tired to bother with cooking. We ran errands all day and did a little shopping at the commissary so even if I forget, we will have munchies Sunday. (He watches the game, I watch the commercials - ha ha.) We should be home in time to see at least some of it.

Laurie, I stock up on local raw honey as much as humanly possible. We use it often. Good price. Wayne even suggested trying the farmer's market when it revs up in the spring.

Janet, the pond sounds wonderful. Our's is far too deep to risk skating on it, even if I could ice skate - ha ha - and MO weather is seldom conducive to ice skating, anyhow.Enjoy!

Wow on the maple syrup, Joce. We like it but it is not easy to locate around here. When my Dad was alive, he always ordered Massachusetts fresh-made the-real-thing maple syrup for us kids. Wayne loves the stuff.

Good you are feelin better, Michelle. I am sure Briauna will enjoy the ring. It sounds lovely.

I hope I didn't miss anyone. If so, hi!

The deer was back. We are happy. Blondie showed up a few nights. I walked out on Geezers five millionth cry for cat food and good old raccoon Blondie took off around the house. I "whooped" to let him know I was around, don't want a surprise attack by a startled raccoon. We were running low so I picked up salmon flavor Blue Buffalo from Orschelns today.. Then I took a little leftover not-so-great cat food and a little of the Blue Buffalo brand, but Geezer must not be a gourmet -- he ignored the better food and ate the Friskies. Goof ball cat.

It has been a long day. See you all tomorrow.
