Tuesday's Talk

Good Morning Everyone. Wishing you all an easy and peaceful day.

I've been going back and fourth with my car dealer. I have an embedded modem chip that allows me to do several things from an app. on my phone. The chip needed to be replaced because of a recall and I did that in February. I asked them then if there was anything more needing to be done so the app. works ... their answer, "NO". One of the features of the app. lets me start the car and it's nice to start the car when I'm leaving the grocery store (or where ever) and have it run those few minutes till I get to the car so it's somewhat cooled down especially when I have DH or the dog with me. Well guess what ... the app. doesn't work, I called tech. support, and have to bring the car in for the chip to be reset/activated. Now why didn't they do this in February???!!! So I call and tell them I want to bring the car in, wait, and have this resolved. I left a message with my guy Monday morning about it. A few hours goes by and I still haven't heard from him so I call. "Oh yea" he says, "I got your message but am waiting to hear back from service to accommodate you waiting". A few more hours goes by so I call again. By now I'm a bit peeved because I bought the car from them and hate being treated with the "get in line attitude". I get my guy's voicemail so called the main number and told them I want an appointment and I want it now. I also told them I've been waiting just about all day to set this appointment. Their response was "we are so busy with customers" ... my reply "I'm your customer too and what you should be saying is we are sorry we are understaffed and just can't handle the business flow". Arrrghhhh.

Hoping everyone is doing well and look forward to hearing about you.

Sounds like a big PIA dealing with your car dealership, Linda! I would be angry as well. Sending you good luck so it all gets straightened out soon.

Kimmer, Love the story of "Runs with no fear". I remember hearing a story not too long after I first moved here, of a man who would get drunk and then come home and beat up his little wife every time he drank for many years. One time he came home and was going to beat her up again and she hit him over the head with a cast iron frying pan and he never beat her up again. Lol, maybe that knocked some sense into him:)

Listening to everyone's family stories just shows every family is so unique.

I hope your Mom is doing much better today, Janet. the staph infection you had through you for a loop so I can't imagine what sepsis has done to your Mom. Hoping she gets stronger and every day.

I need to go to the Drug Store and pick up my prescriptions and then hopefully Andrea and Camden will be home this afternoon so I can drive to Carleton Place a 30 or 40-minute drive from here and deliver the Booster Set chair thing to them. Hopefully, on my way back I will stop at a Chip Stand (French Fry Stand) and pick up our dinner which we will reheat later. Other than that not much happening here.

    Wishing everyone a great day!

Good news! Janet just announced on FB they are taking her Mom home to Rainy River today. I hope everything goes very well. It is going to be a long 4 or 5-hour drive.

Was just reading back last night's post and read that Janet might be able to drive her Mom back to Rainy.....now she can! Hurrah! Thanks for letting us know Joce :)
I really hope this time the trip is a lot more "uneventful" and you get to the Rainy River Hospital safely Janet! :D

Hi Linda, bummer on the dealership not getting back to you! That's unfortunate customer service :( Hopefully they can schedule you in soon and apologize to you!

Hi Joce, I hope your trip to Carlton Place is lovely and you can see Camden too :) Yum on the Chip's from the Chip stand!

Loved reading back about your Family and Grandparents on last nights post. It's so interesting how other people's lives have evolved. I agree, today's times have changed family's for sure. I think a lot of it has to do with how migratory we all are. We no longer live in close quarter's with our extended families.

That's so neat on your Grandpa's name for you Kimmer! And love the Christmas fondue parties in your neighbourhood growing up! How cool!

Well, Physio went well until right before it was time to go-- she was showing me how to do this strengthening exercise. I turned my neck a certain way and snap! I couldn't move my neck up, down or to the right. She told me not rub it or anything, just to go home and take ibuprofen. It was the most uncomfortable thing all day yesterday. It's definitely bugging me still, but not nearly as bad as yesterday. Pete and the kids helped with dinner and laundry etc...and I'm going to order my grocery's online today and have Pete pick them up. Hopefully I'll feel better tomorrow.
I think tonight will be pizza night! :D

    Have a great day everyone!

Thanks Joce for letting us know about Janet. I'm sure she won't have WiFi service on the road. I too am hoping it's a smooth and easy trip back to Rainy River.
Hoping you get to see baby Camden today too. Be careful driving if you do go.

Ouch on your neck Shona! It's like something got stuck or hung up. I so hope you get relief from it today and it snaps itself back in place. Geez, you just can't catch a break.

Will be leaving the house soon to visit with DH. He seems a little down in the dumps today when he face-timed me. He had speech therapy this morning and my guess is it was tough and he didn't do well. I wish so much that something would happen and he is able to break thru what is holding him back.

I'm seriously thinking about trading my car in and getting another. I'm so sick of dealing with this dealership. Sometimes they can be fantastic and other times a complete train wreck. I'll inquire about my trade-in value and start researching other dealers and their customer service. I'm thinking about a Honda CR-V. It's got great safety reviews and that's most important to me.

Well I'll consider it a winfall if I actually get an easy peaceful day Linda, but here's hoping. LOLOLOL. That modem chip app is very cool (when it works) Hope you get it resolved quickly.

Yay for the woman with the cast iron frying pan Joce. That'll be so nice if you get to have a visit with Andrea and Camden!

Although the drive to Rainy River will feel like FOREVER, it's only a 3 1/2 hr. drive and Jim is going to try do it in 3. The nurse tells us they should have all the paperwork and such ready and everything set to go by 1:30-2. Mom's sleeping so Jim and I are just downstairs in the lobby. Jim checked us out of the Hotel. Mom doesn't want to go. She wants to stay here at the hospital where she's comfortable but the Dr. says there's no reason she has to stay here and she'll be fine for the trip. Mom is arguing but I told her I will do what the Dr. says. She has been SO rude to all the nurses and Dr.'s.. Ever since she had her stroke 20+ years ago she lost her manners. She wouldn't say please or thank you to save her life and she'll freak out at people for no reason at the drop of a hat. It's horribly embarrassing. I personally don't think she's fit to live on her own anymore but I'll let the Dr.'s and people in RR decide what they think is best. Once I get back to RR I can go talk to Homecare and everyone.

Thanks Shona. I'm hoping for uneventful too but the way things have been going since we got here I'm doubtful. :) SO sorry to hear about your neck. I cringe every time I read about you heading to Physio .Pizza night sounds perfect. Do take it easy!

So good you can take your mom to RR. It sounds like any change upsets her. Once she is in RR maybe the fact she is closer to home will make it easier. It is probably good you can let her blame the doctors and nurses, it will take the burden off of you. My aunt was like that when she was in her eighties, bec. she had been very active, helping others, etc. and was no longer able to.

Ugh on car dealer problems. It may be they have to have special tech support for "smart phone" problems?? Or updating may cause problems....I have been putting off getting my computer updated because of the difficulties in switching to a new system. Have a nice visit wit your DH.

Have a nice visit with Andrea and Camden, Joce.

Hope your neck feels better, Shona. Pizza sounds easy to fix. Go for It!

The guys are raking and mowing. I just got back home from chiro, which went well. Trouble is purring on my lap no AC is outside. I need to check water dish on the porch so they don't run out.

Daughter texted a pic of an injured, young rabbit her dog had gotten. She thinks the leg is broken. Unknown what to do bec we have no rehab places nearby and the Forestry would just throw it out in the woods to die....that is their idea of taking care of it. She gave it water and will give it greens etc. to eat. It is scared. Probably won't make it esp if the leg is broken. But we can only try.

    It is too blooming hot!

Here come the guys. Must go.

Hope discharge goes well Janet, that's always a pain because paperwork seems to be last on everyone's priority list. I think most medical personnel expect and know how to deal with older patients, crankiness seems to be the norm.

I have an appointment Friday morning Karen for my car and I'm hoping it won't take more than a half hour to reset a chip and do what ever it is they have to do that should have been done when it was replaced. If not I'll be really really vocal about it.
It's hard to set broken bones in rabbits which is why they often amputate. Still not ideal to just throw an injured animal in the woods. Hoping it doesn't go into shock which too is common. Stinks there is nothing more DD can do.

Stopped at the local diner with DH for something to eat after we went to the gym. We ate light today but well. DH had a stuffed tomato with tuna and on the side was chopped egg, onion, 2 slices of thick whole wheat toast, cottage cheese, and a small bowl of fruit. I had the Greek Trio which was a cup of chix noodle soup, 4 triangles of spinach pie, and a Greek salad.

I everyone. On pain meds so excuse the rambling.
Loved the grandparents stories. My moms parents were never really loving all they cared about was themselves not the kids or grandchildren. My boubi great grandmother was more of a grandmother on that side. When my grandmother passed my grandfather remarried and we hardly saw him. When he passed his wife left everyone out of the obit so my mom wrote her own. On dads side my father was a drunk so not much contact but did spend summers with them when I was a child and my grandfather dragged my father to see me every Christmas with presents that stopped when he died. Thus only meeting my sisters 8'years ago.
Surgery went well. Had it done at hospital where frank works it had its perks but everyone and their mother was there so made me a little anxious and the poor nurse putting the IV in as well. Her first time not being able to do it she was so upset. I said no big deal I wouldn't have been able to do it with all these people standing over me either. The anastesiolagist put it in but she numbed it first so no big deal.
No pain yet because I had a block so completely numb from knee down.
Janet hope things get better. Certainly seems like mom shouldn't live on her own. Are you her medical proxy? Do they do that in Canada?
Wow on the Neck! I guess I shouldn't complain about my not being able to exercise :)
Linda I had my car for like 2 years before I realized I could use the Buick app to do the automatic start. Would have been good to know when we had 100 inches a year and a half ago lol and the cold this winter.
Rachel brought me home sushi for dinner. That and I devoured an edible arrangement my friends sent me.
Not sure if I told you guys I got a $250 bonus at work so that was Nicks "gift" lol

Happy to hear your surgery went well Laurie. Hoping when the pain block wears off that you don't have terrible pain. Did they give you any indication about the healing process, how long? LOL on having an app that could have started the car and not knowing about it, it's crazy, there seems to be an app for everything now!

Glad your surgery went well, Laurie!

Linda, she texted it had difficulty breathing so We imagine it was in shock or had severe internal injuries. At least it is as comfortable as she could make it, considering, and it was out of the excessive heat and had some water.

Daughter said it seemed less scared after a bit and seemed calmer in response to her soothing voice tones. She kept talking to it until it finally died. Poor baby.
