Tuesday's Teacups

  • chuckieb 8 years ago
Good Morning Everyone! Just unpacked one small box from our trip yesterday and came across these three teacups. Mom told me they belonged to my Grandma. I'm thinking the orange and purple one did (don't you love the little 'feet' on the purple ones cup?) but I think the Lily of the Valley one perhaps belonged to Mom. I'll do a bit of research after on them to learn more. I saw THE CUTEST idea on Pinterest. They used fancy bone china teacups to serve the soup course in at dinner. I must remember to do that.
Nice here so far this morning but supposed to rain this afternoon. Jim and I are going to do some more weeding and mowing and then after lunch we'll head into town, do a Costco run and a couple of errands.
Hope Becca made out well at her Ortho appointment Laurie. That's a fun fundraiser that Rachel was involved in.
Thank you for the other creme fraiche ideas Michelle. I like the sound of the Chicken Saltimboca and the Flatbread especially. Luisa's Madeleines recipe serves 12 so I'm going to at the very least cut it in half. I went out and bought a Madeleine pan specifically to try that recipe! LOL! That's fun you tried the Chicken Pot Pie ravioli. I've had ravioli split open on me in the water too. Perogies and dumplings as well. :) I bookmarked that Avocado salsa recipe. It looks really yummy.
Brats and asparagus sounded excellent Karen. I bought some more asparagus when I was shopping yesterday. So hated it as a kid (mind you my Mom served it from a can. Bleck. But now it's one of my fave veggies) Good Luck with the kittens booster shots today.
Not quite sure yet what I'll make for dinner. Am thinking of maybe
Dijon Pork Tenderloin With Rosemary And Thyme
I have a craving for new baby potatoes but don't think they're ready yet. Can't wait to go to the Farmer's Market Saturday.
Asked the other Canucks yesterday about their Canada Day plans. How about the rest of you? Any big plans for the Fourth of July?
Heading out to the Hot Tub to have our second cup of coffee. Jim got it all refilled and warmed yesterday and we've missed it!
    Wishing everyone a GREAT day!

Invited a girlfriend and her hubby over for Canada Day dinner tomorrow. Trying to think of an easy dessert, perhaps one involving strawberries since they're in season and I can get them fresh locally.

HI. Quick post before I leave for Rotary with Wayne. Kitties had their shots today and are happy to be home. They hid in the back of the carrier and I had to drag them out one by one. Looked at new pet carriers but they are so flimsy I would not want one. Guess I will have to search auctions. Wayne is ready to go. See ya.

Morning! Omg that purple one with little gold feet is ADORABLE! Soup served in such pretty coffee cups would be so elegant. Bookmarked Dijon Pork Tenderloin With Rosemary And Thyme, sounds delicious and I know Michael will be a huge fan as he loves any and all mustard :) Yes we do have plans for the 4th! Going to my Mom's house, they usually have a bunch of people over and shoot off fireworks. We will be picking up the kids as well because they will be going over there on Thursday right after Caiden's swim lessons. I bet you will come up with a delicious strawberry dessert for Canada Day tomorrow :) Enjoy your time in the hot tub!

Doing the usual swim lessons and work out, and yes I feel so much better this morning than yesterday morning so it should be much more effective than yesterday :) Not sure what's going on after that. Dance and tumbling are over so pretty much all of our nights are free now. It will be nice for the break :) Dinner will be leftovers from after Bri's recital the other night, I think we grilled our whole freezer lol. We had ended up throwing extra meat on the grill to make sure we had enough food. We did eat a ton of it but there was a few ribs left a chicken thigh and ½ of a red snapper filet. Also a ton of potato salad. Wishing everyone a great day!

Hello, just stopping in to say hi!
After Sophia was sick, Pete got sick (he rarely gets sick!) Then I got a throat infection, went to the doctor yesterday and he gave me antibiotics. Why in June are we all sick?? lol! The heat wave finally dissipated but now we have major smog and smoke from all the wild fires burning. I was just thinking I should close the windows as I can feel my lungs getting heavy. I'm off to take Colter into the city to sleep over at his friends house, he's only seen him once since we moved out in the country. I would normally plan my trips to do some shopping, but I think I'll just come back home. Tonight is leftover chicken, I might do a chicken stir-fry rice dish....
Janet, I made a strawberry trifle with store bought angel food cake, fresh strawberries, vanilla pudding and whip cream. (The recipe used frozen strawberries and cool whip though) Here's my photo of it: http://allrecipes.com/recipe/strawberry-shortcake-punch-bowl-cake/detail.aspx If you don't have a punch bowl there, then perhaps do individual trifles in bowls or parfait cups?
I'll have to read back to catch up, hope you are all doing great!
    Have a fabulous day everyone!

Hi again. Strawberry trifle sounds decadent, and delicious, Shona! Too bad you are all feeling down. Yes, do close up the windows and turn on the A/C! Smoke from wildland fires can cause all sorts of things -- maybe that is behind the sore throat?

Love the cups, Janet. I had not thought of serving soup in them. I have some that I don't know what to do with, so there is an idea I have to remember.

Michelle, I haven't gone swimming in years. It certainly does make a difference in how you feel. Sounds like you have a busy week ahead of you. Have fun at the family gathering.

Our daughter and family may come up for the 4th. IF the weather holds we will go the fort for fireworks. Their security is probably beefed up due to threats from ISIS. If it doesn't hold, we will have an indoor BBQ. LOL!

I opened the hen-door for the chickies the other day and only on ventured out. The rest were too chicken. This morning we let them have access to the chickie yard, one brave soul went outside for a short time. Later another set foot out. So a bit ago I decided to go lock them up, closed the door, and all of them gathered around the closed door watching it like "What are you doing, woman?" Crazy things!

Wayne is mowing the yard so I best remind him to check the chicken yard in case I miscounted! See you later.

Still haven't heard anything about the position I interviewed for last week. I did get a kind of awkward job lead. My friend and co-worker at Macy's texted me and asked if I would be interested in an office manager position at her husbands accounting office. It's awkward because her husband is one of the trustees at a condo I manage at my current job and we already have a wrk relationship through that. I asked her if he knew she was asking me and thought it might be awkward but he knew and said he would keep it confidential. So I am interviewing with him and his partner next week. I still really want to work for the town, but I have to keep my options open. I really need to go full time and make some much needed home repairs .
We had chicken tips, rice and peas for dinner.
I got up at 4:40 this morning to meet with the running group this morning! I am crazy. I ran a 5k with a little walking. Pretty proud of myself. I did the first mile at a 12:04 pace. And the second two miles at a 13:55 pace because there was so,e walking.

Love the tea cups. I really should take a picture of my demitasse cups. I'll be purging the hutch soon enough. I've had to fight over a chipped dauschund figurine. We had ten of them (live pups and adult dogs, not figurines) at one time, you would think I could spell it. I buried it in the garbage and she noticed it gone from the shelf.

I lost a huge post yesterday and I'll keep this short. Left side still hurts and leaking. Still on medication which is wrecking my stomach badly. Can't wait i see Dr. on Thursday. I'm tired. Lola is having a moment. Growling at the TV dog, Molly nabbed another bar of soap. Ay-yiyi.

Nothing doing on the Fourth. Everyone is working. xxoo
