Tuesday's Thoughts....

  • chuckieb 7 years ago
Good Morning everyone! I haven't a clue what to make for dinner this evening? I really need to sit down and plan out a one week menu. Our rouladen and spatzle turned out awesome last night and we're looking forward to eating the leftovers for lunch.

Jim's flooring for the rumpus room will arrive today so we'll run in with the trailer and pick it up. It has to sit and acclimatize for two days before he can start installing it. We have a Sens Game to watch this evening. But other than that it's a pretty quiet week.

It's supposed to rain this afternoon and go up to 3C/37F. It's icy outside now with things melting during the day and then freezing again over night. Guess the sap will start running soon as well so I should plan a visit to a sugar bush.

    Wishing everyone a great day!

Good morning Janet, that's great your roulade and spatzle worked out so well! What kind of flooring did you get? We are looking for flooring for our partial bsmt, den area. It has old carpeting and I want something waterproof. We eyed up some flexible, rubbery plank flooring awhile ago that looks pretty neat,
Isn't the warmer weather nice for a change! We've had some gorgeous weather, but I'm stuck inside...booo.... We even had double digits this past week! It got a little cooler today but at least its hovering around 0C and not -20C, lol

Not much going on here today. The hospital sent Colter home as they didn't know why the other ER doctors told him to come back in 3 days. They said ten days, so he now has an appt. for next sunday to do another xray. So he has to keep the partial cast on. I don't know what dinner will be tonight, I have pork chops or Italian sausages to use up...I'll assess later what the easiest option will be. ;) I'm turning into a pro typing with one hand, lol, I can hold shift with my thumb and type with my pinky finger...but it's tiring.

Hope everyone has a great day!

    Good Afternoon Everyone.

I bet your Rouladen and Spatzle was good Janet! Nice that's it warming up during the day to start to melt some of your wintery white stuff away but yes, when it does freeze over at night, it does makes for cautious conditions. What type of flooring did you get for the Rumpus room?

I love polished and stained cement floors Shona, especially for a basement. Then a nice area rug that can be rolled up if needed. Stinks about having to have taken Colter for his xray only to be told to come back. I have no tolerance for incompentency like that and experienced the same myself today.

DH had a primary care doctor appointment today to follow up with everything that has happened. Scheduled the appointment and had to wait a few weeks to get one and was very specific what he was coming in for only to get there and be turned away because they didn't schedule enough time for us and were too busy and made the lame excuse they didn't know what he was coming in for. I was fuming mad as it takes a lot to get DH ready, get him to cooperate, and get him someplace and then to be given the lame excuse. Long story short I'm filing a complaint with the state and putting it up on every review site out there.

Hi Shona! Here's the link to the flooring we got....
    http://homehardware.ca/en/rec/index.htm/Building-Supplies/Floor-And-Wall/Vinyl/Click-Wood-Look/10-mm/24-Sq-Ft-Press-Go-Expresso-Apple-Vinyl-Floor-Tile/_/N-2pqfZ67l/Ne-67n/Ntk-All_EN/R-I2560073?Ntt=Press+and+Go+Vinyl+Flooring
This is sort of flexible, rubbery too. Could be the same stuff you saw. Rolling eyes on the miscommunication with the Dr.'s re: Colter. How's he feeling? I vote for porkchops. :)

Polished and stained cement floors would be lovely Linda but I don't know that I've ever seen anyone with that in Canada. And I'm guessing it's because of the weather. Basements are COLD in the winter so everyone wants to put down flooring that will warm it up to the touch. Sorry to hear you had to deal with miscommunication/inadequacy as well. Did they make you a new appointment or are you going to try elsewhere?

Picked up the flooring after breakfast and Jim lugged it all in to the basement. I'm going to make
    Chicken And Coconut Soup
for dinner since we had a big lunch. Could steam up some Edamame as well if we feel like it.

Good afternoon everyone. Your rouladen and spatzle sounds wonderful, Janet. I haven't had spatzle in ages. I'm guessing that you bought some type of wood flooring as it has to be acclimatized. The Sen's must have brought some players up from the minors as they have quite a few injured. The weather has been great but I'm not looking forward to the rain that is forecast.
Hi Shona. We've been looking for flooring for the basement too. The stick on tiles just aren't cutting it and are starting to wear. I think that we looked at that same flooring. I'm sure that you will find something great and easy for dinner. Shish, I have to patience for things like that.
I love the look of polished cement floors too Linda. I am sitting here shaking my head about the Dr.'s office, unbelievable!!!
Not much new here. I have pork loin chops in a brine and DH will grill them. Sides will be rice pilaf and cole slaw. DS isn't much of a veggie eater these days but he'll eat slaw, at least I'll get something green in his stomach.

Nice on the flooring Janet. When I had my townhouse I (not me but a contacted flooring company) put something like it down thru out my main first floor. I like the look of hardwood but hate how easily it damages so it was a good option.
I am looking for another primary doctor for DH. They offered another appointment and then expected us to wait about 3 hours to see a nurse type person. Not exceptable.

    Hi Bren!

Going to make salmon tonight and I want to try pan searing it. Baking a sweet potato and then will steam some green beans. Still haven't made those dang cookies yet. I need a wife! LOL!

Hi Bren! I freaked out when Stone got hit in the head during the game against the Winnipeg Jets. :( He's travelling with them I hear so perhaps it's not a concussion which is good. I don't think I've done pork chops in a brine before and I should.

Your salmon sounds awesome Linda. Pan searing is great. Keeps all those lovely juices in.

Got the most awesome package in the mail today. I'd discovered two second cousins last year through Ancestry.ca and one of them just sent me his Grandmother's photo album. He'd given me a scanned copy of it last year but then decided to pass the original one on to me as well. I am in heaven and it is GORGEOUS. Having a Hay-day! :)

Hi. Back from errands etc. while wIting for Wayne's truck to be finished, we stopped at Bow and Barrel and Waynw rented a really cool AR type 223 to fire in the range. He likes to shoot different rifles and thought this one was fun. It sells for $1999.99 so I doubt if he would ever buy it! Ha!

Wow. On the photo album, Janet. I missed something about the flooring but the wood grain look is really nice.

Hi Bren, Linda, Shona, and any one I missed.

It has been a very busy day and since fog is rolling in we decided to just relax at home. Geezer seems a tad better and I got another couple doses of antibiotic in him. Crossing fingers he keeps lapping up the canned food, he only gets a tsp. at a time, mixed with meds, for fear he will not eat it all and mess up his antibiotic doses. Bought some wound spray....if he cooperates will spritz it on the area.

I chickened out and grilled the salmon instead of pan searing. Not sure what I was afraid of ... I think I just didn't want to smell up the house or make too much of a mess.

That's good your getting the meds in Geezer Karen. How long does he take the antibiotic for?

Bella's eye seems to be drying up. I don't want to jinx it and hope the antibiotic drops are taking care of the problem. I stopped the anti inflammatory drops as she doesn't seem to need them. Fingers crossed it was just a minor infection of some sort.
