Tuesday’s Thread

Forgive the non imaginative title. At 3:15 AM it taxed the limits of my creative ability to come up with a reasonable one. Maybe next time.

OK, whoever keeps passing the ODD no-sleep bug around, stop! It should not return to Missouri this soon. I am sitting in my recliner with a heating pad, it is supposed to relax the affected muscles. But it has taken lessons from our weather forecasters, the ones who call for four inches of rain and our browned out grass is so dry it crunches underfoot.

Mel joined me, very disgusted to be banned to the arm of the recliner.

Last night, Wayne decided to remove the trash to the outside receptacles, but did not take into account the fact he had armed the house earlier! I was so intent on what I was doing that it took a few seconds to realize the chirping I heard was not the indicator saying he had stepped outside, but the preliminary to a screeching alarm. Fritz freaked out. AC flew to the back of the couch. Mauser disappeared. I managed to get to the alarm in time to stop the screeching and prevent it from notifying law enforcement, no sooner turned around than my phone’s crickets alerted me to a text from the alarm company warning of a possible “smash and crash” at the back door.

I turned around as the land line rang .... daughter, on the notification list, had received the same alert. While I reassured her all was well. Wayne’s cell phone rang! Since he has a hearing problem, he has a particularly LOUD ring. I set the landline down and answered his iPhone....the alarm company wanted to be sure all was well. After giving my name and code word, they desisted from sending law enforcement.

He came back inside, calm as could be. Due to his hearing loss being in the higher frequencies, he did not hear the alarm. His comments.....that alarm must be a quiet one bec he sure didn’t hear it. Sigh.

The heating pad is working. Maybe I can get back to sleep?

    Good Morning Everyone.

My-Oh-My Karen, at least you know the alarm company's response time is good. I like the thread title! The ODD no-sleep bug is no fun and so weird that we all keep passing it around. Have you tried an Epsom salt bath or magnesium supplements or even a magnesium oil to rub on? Magnesium helps relax muscles. So sorry your muscles are still pitching you a fit.

Not much going on here. Directv is scheduled to come out this afternoon to "fix" the problem we are having with all the on-demand stations. The tech called 8:00 this morning wanting to know if he could come "now". I had to tell him no because we were not even up and about. I still have to write down the shows we are taping incase our box is bad and needs to be switched out.

Dinner will be grilled salmon for me. I have my eye on a few recipes so need to pick one to get it marinating. DH will have crab-cakes we bought at the store yesterday. Going to make a tossed salad to go with both because I have lots of greens here and Bella won't eat thru them all quickly.

Good afternoon everyone! Wow you REALLY caught the sleep bug Karen to be up at 3:30. We have set off our alarm multiple times and had to give the alarm company our password. It happens! Lol at Wayne not hearing it, goodness :P

Wow on the tech guy wanting to come so early Linda. Did they end up coming later? Yum on salmon and crab cakes!! I found a recipe yesterday for salmon kabobs which I have never made before, but I like the idea :)

We are at Schlitterbaun today!! I have already rode about 5 water slides and am pooped lol. There is stairs to walk up for every slide and it is exhausting. The kids wanted to go back to a water slide all the way across the park so I'm sitting this one out while Michael takes them :) Dinner will be either leftovers or stop and grab something on the way home. Have a good day!!!

Decided on the salmon recipe I want to use … It's one of Janet's and I'll be grilling it. I don't have cilantro for the salsa and I don't think I'll miss it and I'm sure it will still be fantastic. Salmon With Avocado Lime Salsa

SP Michelle. Wow! a water park, sounds like a lot of fun and I bet you all will sleep very good tonight and be hungry for dinner. Eat out, no clean up.

The tech for Directv just left and did a software upgrade. Seems the new software isn't working like it should and for most people it doesn't load fully and has been causing problems but Directv won't tell you this. He came out last time. Young guy and seems to know what he's doing. 24 hours later is should be working so we will see.

It's rumbling thunder so we should be getting hit with rain soon.

LOL @ Wayne tripping the alarm system. :)

Goodness at Direct TV calling so early and wanting to come out then Linda! Yum on both salmon and crab cakes. Fun you are going to try that recipe for the Avocado salsa.

Salmon kebobs would be fun Michelle. Sounds like you`re having a great time at the Water Park. You`ll have got your aerobic exercise in FOR SURE!

I`ve had a super busy day. Headed in to town about 10:45 and grabbed some groceries, went to the bakery to buy some dessert stuff (marshmallow square fudge stuff and a couple of Long Johns which I will cut in to pieces) and to the drug store. Grabbed Mom, flew back out to the house. Company arrived right at the same time. They enjoyed lunch. I made Meatball soup and grilled cheese sandwiches. They left about 2 p.m. I drove Mom back to her apartment for a nap and she had someone coming in at 3. Just checking in here at the library then back out to the house. I already have the pork in the Crock pot for Chicken Licken` Good Pork chops. Just have to peel some potatoes which I`m going to make in to Garlic Mashed and then prep some spinach. My Aunt Irene and cousin Wayne arrive for dinner at 5. Phew.

Hope everyone has a great day.

Oh my on the alarm. Joy would have been in a panic. She hates any type of alarm noise.
Supposed to go for a run tonight with the girls but not feeling it lol. It’s muggy.
I’m playing with the IP Making pot roast. My friend gave me directions of how she makes it. I looked up a few recipes and they were all different. So I am going with her cooking times directions. She puts on sauté and Sears the meat the pressure cooks for 45 minutes. Stops it and then adds the veggies and cooks for 12-15 more minutes.
I will let you know how it comes out. I’m kind of afraid of the thing. The pressure part anyway I have a fear it’s gonna blow up or something lol

Frank is trying to get our cable bill down. Lol if we take the home phone off which we only his parents, telemarketers and Red Cross call it reduces the bill by $3

OMG Janet!!! BEST SALMON I'VE EVER MADE! It was so gooood. Reminds me a lot of the beloved Adobo Salmon I get at our favorite seafood restaurant. And I can't believe it was easy. The avocado salsa just puts it over the top!!
I bought a new salmon variety that I never had before and loved it. "Keta" and it's wild caught. Very mild, like Atlantic, not as strong as other wild varieties. I better get myself back to Publix and get lots more for the freezer.
