Tuesday's Traipsing....

Good Morning Everyone! It's another fearsomely cold morning out there. Need to head into town this morning and go buy some more bird seed. Got a nice message from Benjamin this morning. He and his girlfriend had gone to Yangmingshan National Park yesterday and he sent pictures of them amongst all the cherry blossoms. Sigh.
Our Porkchops with Sauerkraut and Pearl Barley were yummy last night. If I were here by myself I'd totally be having some Sauerkraut for breakfast. :) I'll make up the
    Ham N Swiss Loaf
for dinner when I get home, once I buy some more flour! :)
Wishing everyone a wonderful day. Crazy to think that March is in less than a week!

Good morning Janet! Love the pics..how beautiful it is there! LOL on the tulips in the snow:) Well, We went to be bed early last night, so i didn't get a chance to finish Downton:( I will try to watch the rest of it today:) Rick will be leaving in a few minutes, he has 2 doors & openers to install on a new custom home..I put the camera in his truck so hopefully he will take a few pics of the completed job. The doors will look beautiful, they are a great color, Wicker Tan, with glass inserts on the top panel..

I need to call a real estate company (again) to see when we can expect payment for a job he did almost a month ago..I feel like I'm getting the runaround..the owner is out of state and the agent who called for the work isn't the one responsible for paying us..the owner is. I don't care where the owner is..send a check already. We aren't able to carry accounts and usually don't have a problem collecting, but every once in a while we have to work at getting paid:)

Gotta run, I'll be back..he's leaving right now, so I need to give him a kiss and wave bye:)

Good morning, Janet. What a lovely pic of the park and the cherry blossoms and of course Ben:) I love the pic of the tulips lined snow bank and yes I can't wait for Spring either! Ham N Swiss Loaf will be perfect for such a cold day.

Marie, There always seems to be one person who is slow or doesn't want to pay their bills and usually the worst ones are quite well off! Why I don't know? The squeaky wheel gets the grease, keep hounding them! The Wicker Tan coloured door with the glass inserts do sound beautiful. I hope you and Rick have a good day.

We had hot chicken sandwiches for dinner last night and tonight we will have pork chops. Nothing much happening here. My chest has been acting up again so I have been just lurking.

Hoping everyone has a great day!

Ok, I'm back:) I will either make meatloaf & mashed potatoes with gravy or patty melts..I haven't decided..There was some talk in IMI about patty melts, and since then I have been wanting one:) The only thing is (for the meatloaf) I don't have a bell pepper, I always add diced bell pepper to my turkey meatloaf! I searched meatloaf recipes and there are quite a few without bell pepper..I just think it adds so much flavor..so now the question is, do I want to go to the store for 1 bell pepper?

It was soooo windy yesterday..we thought the truck was going to lift off..when you have doors on top of the rack, the wind tends to create havoc and you can really feel it lifting the doors up..he ties everything down really well, but, it was still a bit scary:)

Have a wonderful day everyone:) I need to get a shower and get this day going!

SP Joce..gosh, I just knew I was taking too long with the last post...I do hope your chest gets better soon..my goodness, how long do you have to endure this??? I am thinking of you, always.
I'm quite a loud squeaky wheel..I agree totally, a lot of the people who are well off don't pay as well as us Po folk:) There are a lot of people who have rentals who are slow pay..like a door he installed in Chico over 2 weeks ago, it was for a property management company, and we had to get approval for the new GD for a rental which was vacant. We were told the owner won't have the money until next week..well, why the heck did he approve the new door if he doesn't have the money to pay for it? I could just pull my hair out I tell ya..we don't have a new GD (our old one is in excellent condition, darn the luck) the only way I'd get a new door is if I ran my car into the old one..LOL:)

Marie, They say everyone is different and I now belong to a Woman's Heart chat everything health realted, thingy http://www.inspire.com/groups/womenheart/ which really helps me. Some people experience pain for the rest of their lives and others start to feel better in six months. ***Don't read the next part if you are squeamish please! During Open Heart Surgery they cut through your sternum bone with a saw and they cut through muscles and nerves in your chest ribs etc. The ribs are pulled back and (sometimes broken) and opened for hours.( I was in surgery for six hours.) All those things take time to heal and rejuvenate, if they can. My whole chest feels like someone hit me with a baseball bat and bruised it really bad, then scalded it and it feels hurting numb. If that makes any sense? Apparently it is a common pain especially with women. They also harvested arteries from my leg and mammary glands to use to repair my heart. Sometimes those things scream like someone is using a hot knife stabbing me. Sorry TMI! Hopefully this too shall pass? Hey I am lucky I don't have to worry about going back to work to survive like so many others or have young children to worry about.

Joce, no, that wasn't TMI..it helps me understand better exactly what you went and are going through..I just wish you felt better. It's amazing what they can do these days..and it takes quite a while to heal from such an evasive surgery. I love that you are so positive about everything, that's the only way to be..wishing you the very best and a speedy recovery:) xoxox

Just back from picking up a bell pepper..so meatloaf it will be for dinner:)

Hi all!! Good luck with getting out in the freezing weather today Janet! Brrrr! Glad you enjoyed your dinner last night :) Great pic. of Benjamin and those tulips in the snow are SO pretty!!

What a PIA Marie on having the run around with getting a payment. That would irritate me so much! I would vote patty melts, only because I wouldn't want to make that store trip for the lonely bell pepper lol! Oh lol just read your comment that you went! You trooper :P

Yum on hot chicken sandwiches last night Joce!! Sorry to hear your having some problems, take all the time you need to feel better :)

It's cold today. Just finished watching Turner and Hooch with Caiden. He LOVES that movie :) Made a BLT for lunch, and pretty soon I have to go pick up Briauna from school for a follow up eye appt. She's all excited about her half day :) For dinner I'm going to take the leftover ribeyes from the other day and turn them into something else. Any ideas anyone? I came across these 2 that look good, but still can't decide. Avocado Topped Steak Tacos and
Steak Pot Pie Both look good! Softball got canceled tonight, I'm guessing it's too cold? Wishing everyone a great day!!

    Hey everyone!
So remember Franks coworker who went

  • laurieg 9 years ago said:
To the World Cup and wound up being interviewed for news article here? So apparently he uses all his vacation time to go to different big sporting events all over the world. He decided to go to New Zealand and see a big cricket tournament not knowing anything about the sport but since the flight is 27 hours long. He brought books and studied up on the rules and the game. When he gets to New Zealand he goes to a Cricket museum and he chats up the director or someone in charge and tells him where he came from and he guy is stunned he says you can't just come her with no ticket ?? These games are sold out. Franks coworker says there is always a ticket somewhere to be had I'll get one from somewhere. He is till at the museum when the director gets a phone call from his wife saying she needs him to watch the kids and so he cannot go to the game! The guy who is an ex-cricket player calls franks coworker over and says you can have my ticket!! So the next day franks co worker goes back to the museum with a six pack of beer as a thank you for the ticket and the guy said he had been looking for a way to get in touch with him, he has two people with him. Yup you guessed it. Reporters!! They love the story of the guy who travels around the world with no ticket to see a game he has absolutely no idea about and they want to do a story. ESPN from I think India arrange to interview him at the game. At the game they have some technical difficulties so the reporter leaves him for a bit in the press area when another reporter from another country approaches him and decided he likes the story so he asked if he can interview him. When he is finally in his seat the photographer starts shooting pictures for the article. The woman sitting next to him asks what is that about so he tells her and she whips out her phone to call her editor yup she works for the newspaper. And she does a story on him. Crazy!
Chicken soup for dinner tonight. It is freezing here!

Turner and Hooch is a cute movie, Michelle:) Bri must be very excited to go to the eye doctor and get a half a day off from school. Will she get her contacts today? The Beef Pot Pie looks delicious to me.

Laurie, Frank's coworker sounds like he is a pro at getting attention and luck where ever he goes! Very cool story. Chicken soup should warm you up.

Cool story Laurie, what luck! Yum on chicken soup :)

Briauna has had contacts for a week or 2 now. She still has a little trouble getting them in some, but she can pop those suckers out like a pro :P Today they were just wanting to see how she was doing and how well she could get them in and out. They gave us another box of trials but I did go ahead and order contacts as well.

I am going to make that beef pot pie but use fresh veggies. Should I steam them some first? What do y'all think?

I'm back! We did a lot of errands today Holy Smokes! Went to the Post office, picked up some wine :), went to Costco. Bought birdseed, water, a HUGE pork loin tenderloin. It was $26.47 and then $5.00 off. I cut 12 pork chops off of it, a chunk to turn into souvlaki and then three small roasts. Wow! I've never bought that much pork in my life! Also got a good deal on B/S Chicken thighs and Jim got a neat pr. of sunglasses that just fits over top your regular glasses. Then we went to Walmart as they had specials on Carnation Evaporated Milk which we use in our morning coffee as well as Toilet paper and I also bought a bottle of that new Mott's Clamato Juice with Lime that just came out. We grabbed wonderful sandwiches from the Little Euro Deli for lunch and I also got a big jar of Polish sauerkraut and these super cool egg noodles in short thin rectangular shapes. Slurpilicious! :) Next the Hardware store, had big chats with all the old staff, then to the Flower Shop next door to visit my girlfriend who gave me ANOTHER free dozen long stemmed roses (she had 300 left over after Valentine's Day) then to the Grocery store where we ran into our neighbours and had another big long chat then home. Whew! I made up the Ham n' Swiss Loaf and am now going to go have a cocktail in front of the fire.
Did you manage to finish Downton Marie? Ugh on the people who are being pokey paying their bill. After managing the Hardware store for so many years I had my fair share of trying to wrangle payments out of delinquent accounts. Rolling eyes. Good luck to you.
Your hot chicken sandwiches last night sounded wonderful Joce! I'm so glad you found some other people to talk to about healing from heart surgery and I too am glad you told us more details so we know what you're going through. Gentle hugs. I really, really hope all the pain does pass for you. And you're right, some poor people have a whole lot of other worries on their plate in addition. You do have a great attitude.
That's awesome Bri's contacts are working so well for her. I wouldn't steam the veggies first. I'd just throw them in and go for it.
Laurie, I totally remember you telling us about that guy and that is absolutely hilarious that he went to New Zealand. He sounds like he has a really fun outlook on life and it's possible he will make a name for himself or an alternate career doing these sporting event trips. Yum on chicken noodle soup.

Wow Laurie..great story!!! Chicken soup is perfect for the weather your having..stay warm:)

Michelle, it is irritating waiting for $$:) But the one check arrived in the mail today..it was kindof screwy. The agent responsible for getting our invoice, which was sent to another agent cause that's who called for the work to be done, anyway, the agent was out of town..they owners who were to pay us were out of town as well..we didn't even know they were the ones paying us..we thought the agent who called us was paying, that's what usually happens. oy vey..I don't care, it's been paid! So cool that Bri is doing so well with her contacts..I don't think I could wear them!!!
I would steam the veggies before making the pot pie..just a little so they are a bit crunchy, the will cook completely in the oven..but you probably have already started your dinner, huh..

Janet, I did finish DA today...I added my 2 cents to the Downton group:) What a busy day you 2 had! You got a lot done! I'm still waiting for Rick to get home, quite a long day for him..so I should probably wait for him before having MY cocktail:) Enjoy your cozy evening:)

    Tina? Hope your doing well..xoxox

    Hi
Busy running errands with Wayne - chiropractor appt. - stand alone generator being installed today but no propane tank yet. Installer had kidney stones acting up but still came to work. Wish I could help him. Propane tank to be installed later this week for it. My old laptop has a bright red stripe over the screen - I copied documents and photos to an SB disc. Can't take the red line any more so this is going away and tomorrow I will use the new one. Will save the hard drive to use as another backup. I hate computers!

Nice pix Janet. Hi Marie, Laurie, Joce, Michelle. And anyone I missed.

    Tina, how are you?

I've been sleeping a lot. My shoulder and left arm aches, I think I have pinched a nerve. We brought home Fred's ashes yesterday and Olivia was shattered.

The restaurant where she works has been sold. She has finally decided that going back to school would be her best action.

    Great story, Laurie
Talk to you tomorrow. I'm cranky.
