Tuesday`s Trek....

  • chuckieb 5 years ago
Good Morning Everyone! Teeny Tiny snowflakes are falling right now....almost like rain but it`s white. :) It`s -9C/15F so warmer than it has been. The temperatures are supposed to plummet again tomorrow I think so Jim and I might take advantage today and go out for a walk in the woods. There`s a trail over by Carp that we`ve heard about and never gone on.

Jim wants to do a second coat of paint on the broom closet and then we can set off.

    Gonna make
    Salisbury Steak Deluxe
for dinner this evening. Haven`t thought about sides yet.

Jim just threw a couple more logs on the fire and now I won`t want to leave the family room. :) May have to eat my bagel sandwich here. LOL.

Turkey tacos sound yummy Laurie. A bit surprising Frank`s stomach can handle that and not beef barley soup, but I guess it`s a certain ingredient that gets to him. Glad to hear Rachel is settling in. Becca sure got a long break! Nice!

Karen, how are you feeling today?

Good luck to Den with his tests today Joce at the Heart Clinic! Safe travels.

    Wishing everyone a great day!

Thanks:) We don't go until tomorrow but I have an eye appointment and then a hair appointment this afternoon.

Glad to hear you are handling the chemo better, Karen or at least you are preparing for it better.
Sorry, this is short but it is hard typing with one hand.

    Wishing everyone a great day.

    Good Morning everyone!

I'm giggling that you consider 15(f) a warmer day Janet but considering what your temps have been it is warmer. LOL! A good day indeed to get out. It was beautiful here yesterday and I was able to get a nice stroll in with LD. He just adores being outside.
I'm now getting the itch to paint something. Everything is a neutral white and we kept it that way thinking we were going to move but that never happened so … I would love to paint the back walls of the closet in a bright color but we already have shelving up and I'm not taking it down and putting it back up and it's too hard to paint around. I'll consider it though when the whole house needs to be painted.
    The Salisbury recipe looks great.

Charcoal is a great detox Laurie but I honestly don't think I use enough for it to be beneficial, I use it as a natural colorant instead of an artificial one. Speaking of charcoal I found a great charcoal toothpaste. It's so odd to see a black foamy mouth when you use it but it's great for whitening. https://www.hello-products.com/product/charcoal-whitening-toothpaste/

Good Luck with your eye appointment today Joce. And Good Luck to Den tomorrow. Hope you enjoy your freshened up hair too.

Plans today are the gym. Going to thaw BLSL Chix Breast to grill later and will make a rice mix and broccoli to go with it.

I know it was Wednesday that Den goes to Kingston Joce, but until you mentioned it, I was thinking it was Wed. today. LOL. Good luck at your eye and hair appointments. You need a voice activated thing on your computer Joce. Jim has one on his tablet and I think my upgraded Mac will also do it. You just talk and it types for you. My `new` Mac also has Siri on it which is pretty funny.

Nice that you had a good stroll with LD yesterday Linda. I`d never heard of charcoal toothpaste before. That`s hilarious! Yum on grilled chicken.

Benjamin has a bad cold and had to go to the Dr. to get cough medication. :( We`re going to Skype with him on Friday.

Wow at the warm 15 F temperature, Janet. It is 35 F here, just above freezing. Cloudy and supposed to warm up just a tad. Hope you enjoy your walk outside. Nice that you get to skype with Benjamin.

Enjoy your charcoal toothpaste, Linda, I tried it but decided the black foam was not my idea of fun. LOL! It supposedly is a good deodorizer and whitener! We are tired of painting closets but the cabinet people will do the doors.

Hi Joce, Wayne needs a haircut and I may schedule one for next week so I can go with him just to keep him company. I feel good, just achy from Neulasta, and did take Tylenol to help deal with it.

My hair is just a few patches but I love my wig! It is gray with strands of purple in, not a lot, just enough to stand out. Can’t wait for the caps and such to get here. I ordered basic colors, nothing gaudy but also not blah. If Facebook ever downloads my photos again I will put a few on.

Chicken sounds good.....BLSL thighs appeal to me. I could handle rice and broth well, broccoli is not on the agenda at the moment.

We have to go to the fire Dept this afternoon for the end of the election stuff. Thank goodness it is almost over.

    Have a nice day.

I keep telling you guys that Broccoli is a bad thing Karen. :) LOL. Safe travels to the Fire Dept. Did anyone else ever volunteer to join up?

Well....Jim and I did go for a walk. We thought it was only going to be about an hour or so but it turned out we were gone for about 2 1/4 hours. LOL. Jim kept saying to go on in order to get on the loop to head home and I said the loop was purely extra to the trail and indeed, I was right.

The weather was really lovely though and it was a nice walk. Walked by a few beaver ponds and saw where they`d chewed down some small trees but never did see the Lodge. We only saw 5 people and two dogs while we were out. We were getting pretty hungry by the time we got back to the car and ate up a bunch of leftovers in the fridge once we`d got home. About to head out for a hot tub shortly. We`ll turn the hot tub down tomorrow probably as the temps are going to dip and we never go out if it`s -20C/-4F or colder.

Just learned that Jim`s Aunt Colleen had hip surgery this morning! :( She fell last Wed. and her son didn`t realize she`d broken anything so she`s been hobbling around her apartment until her other son saw her yesterday and took her to the hospital for an ex-ray. :( She`s the one who just lost her husband and we were just at the funeral the beginning of December in Mississauga.

Hope the med works for Benj. and he feels better soon. Nice walk! I was able to get LD out too even though it's cooler today he enjoyed it and I made him walk on the leash. We went around our cul-du-sac a few times. I keep him on the road though, no walking in the grass because of pesticides, lawn fertilizer, biting bugs, and God-only-knows-what-else. Very cool to see beaver ponds and evidence of them. Oh my on your Aunt-in-law having to have hip surgery. Hope it's an easy fix and she up and about soon.

Broccoli rocks!! I'm sprouting broccoli seeds (started a tray today) for my salads and sandwich topping. LOL!

The gray and purple highlighted wigs sounds very pretty Karen. What is the cut like … a pixie, a bob??

Good afternoon and hello to all. Nice on the walk Janet! Bit too cool for me though, lol! Hope Benj gets over his cold soon. Glad you like your new wig Karen. It sounds really pretty! Was a cooler day here for us too Linda. Benny uses a charcoal like substance for his teeth. It's a powder though, not a paste. Had to get after him the first few times he used it as it left little black dots all over the sink and tile in his bathroom, lol! He's careful to clean it up now.

Heading out tonight with our friends for this month's wine pairing meal at Carrabba's. Looking forward to it as usual. Menu for tonight looks delightful! Shrimp & sea scallops coated with breadcrumbs and topped with lemon butter sauce, lemon artichoke pasta, chicken stuffed with fontina cheese and prosciutto topped with mushrooms and a basil lemon butter sauce and for dessert, chocolate hazelnut cannoli. Guess it's lemon butter night, lol! And the wines that they have paired with each course.

    Hope all enjoy their evening.

Nice you and LD got a walk in too Linda! Do broccoli seeds turn in to broccoli sprouts and if so, do broccoli sprouts taste like broccoli?

Am SO very envious of your dinner out tonight Kimmer!!!!! I like absolutely everything on the menu. Wow! Enjoy! Enjoy!

Called my Mom and dinner is almost ready.

Ok, ODD thing going on here. We have new neighbors, well relatively new. They moved in either the week before Thanksgiving or the week after, can't quite remember but around that time. We met them and they seemed to be very nice people. About two weeks ago the neighbor guy, Steve, saw my hubs outside and asked him for a favor. They apparently had booked a cruise when Hurricane Irma went thru which was cancelled and they were finally making good on the tickets this last week. He has some very expensive and HUGE fish that he asked if hubs would feed this last week while they were gone. Hubs said sure. Now mind you, neither one of these men exchanged phone numbers.......duh.........just the key to their house. So they left a week ago on Sunday on a 7 day cruise which should have put them back this past Sunday or at least Monday morning. They still have not shown up home! Hubs claims Steve said he would just need to feed the fish through Sunday night. I'm worried. Hubs is just irritated because he is still feeding the fish. ????? If they don't show in a couple of days should we call the police???? Keep saying to hubs, you must have misunderstood what day they would be back (he really never listens to people, lol) but he insists that he said they would be back the following Sunday. What to do????

Kimmer, this isn`t the new neighbour that wanted to borrow some of your tools or something is it? I sort of remember some negative occurrence happening? Kind of amusing that the men didn`t exchange phone numbers or email. LOL. If something had happened to the man and his wife? to delay them I`m sure they could track you down from your address? Do you even know their last names? Guess you could look at their mail if they didn`t have a hold put on it. I honestly wouldn`t think something would have happened to them so it`s more likely your hubs just didn`t hear correctly so that means I am betting they`ll be back this coming Sunday. Eventually a friend of theirs or a family member would notice something was off and come by the house. Interesting story. Would make for a good movie wouldn`t it. :)

And if you knew what cruise line they were on or where they were going, you could probably find the cruise schedule online.

No Janet, I think you are thinking of the neighbor behind us. Have had a couple of negative occurrences with him, lol! No these guys are very new to the neighborhood. No I don't know their last name but I'm sure it was mentioned to hubs. Again, he does not listen to people and usually can never remember anyone's name and makes up one for them, lol! They are from another state but I do know they have a nephew that lives somewhere near. He had mentioned that they were going to ask him to take care of the fish but he is apparently young and can't be relied on. Other than that they haven't really been here long enough to make any friends. Just really weird........... I do know that it was a Caribbean cruise which are usually 7 days tops for here since we are so close.
