Hello ODD friends! Happy Sweetheart's Day to all of you. Trailer trash pot roast, carmelized carrots, mashed potatoes are on the menu today. I'm making up some crab mornay as a make ahead meal for tomorrow. Caprese salad with a blended pesto. I'm making some sauces today to make plain meals feel special. Pesto, chimichurrii are planned. Italian sausage marinara. Turkey meatballs to freeze in portions.
Hello Tina! Another cute pic of Fred!!! Food looks awesome as well:) The caprese salad is one of my favorites, we like to make this during the summer with the fresh tomatoes, yum:)
We will be driving to Durham later to look at a job for a big door..Rick is working this morning, so I'll take a drive later to Durham with him..nice area, lots of almond orchards, cow pastures..I wouldn't mind have a home there on some acreage with cows & horses..maybe some goats..chickens..I would have to have a farm hand or stable person, because i don't know a thing about raising animals that aren't cats..lol
Leftover chicken parm (it is so good!!!) for dinner:) The sauce is to die for:) Thanks again Janet!
Valentines Day was never just about couples for me. It was also about letting friends know that you care about them and sending a special token to those closest. At WELBRO there was this nice construction superintendent named Bobby Rhodes. Bobby would bring in a flat of African Violets for each of the ladies in the office every Valentines.
I hope you all are sharing your love light today. Dinner will be a Mr. SuchAFuss favorite tonight with steak, potatoes and tomatoes. No fussing around in our kitchen, just fooling around.
Food is calamari fries on the left with cucumber salad and jalapeno ranch dressing. Food on the right is seared tuna with sriracha sauce and sweet chili sauce. So good. At Engine #09 on MLK street in St. Pete. Very good lunch. New place in town. Burgers are expensive but very creative.
Lori, love the steak and potato meal, nice and simple takes the cake. Marie, I hear you on the stable hand. I'd have to have one too but I would love to have some chickens and a goat as well. Laura has some of the nicest pictures on FB, Too neat. Another steak and potatoes meal.
I guess great minds think alike....meat and potatoes for the menfolk in our lives. LOL
Good Morning Everyone and Happy Valentine's Day! Pot Roast sounds wonderful Tina. The pictures are excellent. The Tuna looks to die for. I don't think I've ever had Tuna except from a can. The Gruyere souffle you mentioned yesterday sounded wonderful. Steak, potatoes and dessert sounds like a perfect Valentine's Day Dinner Lori and so does snuggling in and watching TV after. Where is Durham Marie? I can't find it on Google Maps? I think so many of us over time have talked about having a small Farm as our happy place. :) So pleased you enjoy that Chicken Parmesan recipe. That Bobby Rhodes sounded like a very special person Laura. I used to bring in Valentine's Day cookies all decorated up for the staff at the Hardware store and special customers. I miss that. Steak and potatoes for you as well. Good stuff. Good luck at Macy's today Laurie and I hope your day goes by in a flash. Too bad Frank's gift was delayed but I'm sure he won't mind. A friend of mine told me this morning that her husband had come in and sheepishly admitted that he'd bought her chocolates but he'd forgotten where he'd hidden them. LOLOLOL. She said it may turn into an Easter present instead. LOL @ your Daughter requesting toys instead of Candy for your Grandson's presents Kimmer. :) I'm going to try out a new recipe tonight that I got from Pinterest. http://www.eatingwell.com/recipes/lemon_dill_chicken.html And some smashed potatoes on the side. Maybe Broccoli for Jim. We picked up a bottle of good old Californian Korbel Champagne for $8 at Safeway last night. That always helps make things festive.
Dill chicken! That sounds right up my alley:) Durham is about 22 miles from us in the valley.. here's their website http://www.thedurhamconnection.com/. It's a pretty community..really wouldn't mind living there:)
It does look like a lovely spot Marie. There's a Nordic Gift Shop in Durham that I would totally be peeking in! :) The House is indeed beautiful. Happy Birthday to Den today! Didn't see Joce at all yesterday. Perhaps they went on a little adventure!
Hey everyone and happy Valentine's Day!! I wanted to stop by & check in, though I'm still trying to stay off the Internet to focus on what I'm working on. I'm currently in LA trying to further my career. I'm staying with a friend and hitting the pavement every day. It's been difficult to be away from Kris & Tokyo, especially today. But check out my avatar! Love you all and hope you have a sweet day!!
Hello Dahlia! Long way from home but I bet you are warmer in LA than you would be in Detroit. Back in from the yard. Mission accomplished. Unfortunately I saw many other denizens of the garden that require my special brand of discipline. Need lunch.
No home cooking tonight, we're going out to the SF Ballet, and trying to get some dessert at Jardiniere's after the performance. Day at the bakery is kinda grazy today, The mad rush will be this afternoon, thank god, I'm outta there in 1 hour :D
Hey Dahlia! Good to see you. Good luck in LA! That is an adorable arrangement in your Avatar. :) I envy you the garden work today Laura. It's supposed to go up to 63F here this afternoon. The San Francisco Ballet. Doesn't that sound lovely. Here's the link to Jardiniere. http://www.jardiniere.com/ We always do that Ralph so the rest of us can peruse the menu. :) Have a wonderful evening. Yes, I could totally see you and Rick and the cats in that house Marie. :)
Everyone....here is the menu to Engine #09 http://engineno9dtsp.com/menu/
Ralph, You are the man, I'd love to see a ballet with Fred. He wouldn't go EVER. Janet, Yum on the champagne. I wish I had thought of some for us. Marie, I love the house....yes, it would qualify as a dream home for me too. Dahlia, nice post on the King's cake. Hope you are well. Lori! I'm going to watch my shows too. Laura...I envy the gardening. I miss my old yard so much...shade and flowers were in abundance. None of this barren waste of grass and palms.
Lots of GMTA vibes in here today! lol I came close to putting a roast in the crock pot this morning. :)
Marie, that soundsl ike a great drive, and I loved the pic of Patrick Ranch! We'd thoroughly enjoy that drive, I'm sure. And I'd need a stable hand too! :)
LOL at fooling around in the kitchen, Laura! Sounds fun. Gardening weather will be here soon for us, too. Love the violets for all the ladies on Valentines Day, how sweet!
Good to see you Dahlia! Good luck with your venture!!
Enjoy your evening, Ralph! Sounds great!!
Gonna have to check out the menu links. SO, I went all cliche and picked up strawberries and chocolate dip for dessert. LOL But mainly because that's no muss, no fuss, not much clean up. LOL Aren't I the romantic one?
What a cool menu for Engine #09 Tina! You're right on the creativity of the burger menu! I would have ordered the "Borderline". Avocado, smoked pancetta, Roasted Cherry peppers, Pepper jack cheese and chipolte mayo. I LOVED the concept for the "Alice in Pain" Burger. What a name! Srircha, Pancetta, roasted red pepper, grilled pineapple and sweet chili paste. Very fun. Strawberries and chocolate dip are a lovely idea for a Valentine's Day dessert Lori. Seriously. LOL Ralph. Don't apologize. (Canadians are renowned for that you know!) :) I just didn't want you to think I was a weirdo stalker or something, putting a link in to which restaurant you were going to tonight. ROFL. :)
Tea lady has settled on Laura's cleansing tea as a result of your input. Thank you all for playing. Makes me happy. When I got done pruning the tree this afternoon I went hunting for flower s to put in the house. I got a special Valentine from mom. One of her orchids had fallen forgotten from the tree. It was in full bloom. I cut a branch to put with some camelias for one more Valentine to greet my honey.
Laura, how nice to find an orchid in bloom. Very nice indeed. I agree, no mention of liver cleanse would be better. I've finished my marathon cooking for today. I did not plan it, it just fell into place. There is an experimental meatloaf in the oven and the crab cannolini have morphed into a seafood/chicken sausage lasagna. The meatloaf is half turkey/half lean beef, with an onion jam crust.
Fred went and got us a bottle of champagne and it is lovely. I cut up a bunch of fruit and will top his raspberry sorbet with fresh fruit and a bit of Hershey;s chocolate sauce. I'm tired and don't know if I will make it through my favorite Project Runway, but there is always the DVR. Hugs to my friends. Be gentle and kind to each other, you never know what quiet burdens are hidden deep.
An orchid tree! Wow! Must be stunning! Have a most lovely evening Laura. That lasagna sounds sensational Tina. Yum on the onion jam crust for the meatloaf too. :) That's great Fred did a champagne run. Your dessert sounds nice. You have a lovely evening too.
We are back:) Saw another old Victorian house I want:D I can dream, can't I?!!!
Ralph, your ballet sounds wonderful..I need to start enjoying the finer things in life..my "other" dream was to see Pavarotti..that didn't happen, so time to make some of my dreams come true:) Rick & I are always trying to figure out some way to enjoy something besides business...hard to do when you are basically on call, and need the income being a new business and all...sometimes it seems when we worked for someone else, it was much easier to get away...
Lori. I'm thinking a young good looking stable boy..LOL
Tina, there are plenty of rooms at Patrick ranch for all of us!!!
