Wacky Wednesday....

Good Morning Everybody! Well....it's a gorgeous blue sky sunshiny morning here in the Haliburton Highlands.

Things kinda went south last night once the girls heard that the cottage has mice and they started to battle the mosquitoes. They live in the city so these things are very alarming to them. By the time everyone was heading to bed they were pretty stressed out. Am hoping to get their minds on other things this morning and hoping that everyone has a better day. They were going to stay for 3 nights initially but I wouldn't be surprised if they decide to head out early. Oh dear.:(

Jim and I had a HORRIBLE sleep in the bunkhouse. Took forever to fall asleep and then next thing you know it was bright outside. The beds in there are very soft and I'm feeling my back going out on me already.

Plus.....our car started acting up when we were about an hour away from the cottage. It's acting 'sucked out', so that when you start it after being stopped for even a short time, you can put the pedal to the medal so to speak and nothing really happens. We're going to call our mechanic first thing and get his opinion and then may have to bring it to a garage. Ugh.

I'll make the Chalet Style chicken this evening with roast mini potatoes and asparagus.

It could go either way today. Here's hoping. :)

    Wishing everyone a great day!

Morning Janet! Uh oh, maybe the cottage having mice should have stayed a secret lol. Sorry to hear it is a battle though and hope they last the whole trip. Ugh on no sleep. Hope you car issues get worked out, what bad luck your having :( Yum on the chicken, potatoes and asparagus though! Hope you day get's better :)

It's been rainy and dark for about 5 days now, and today is supposed to be another as well as tomorrow. Sun please come out!

We have swim lessons today then we are going to come home and do some baking. Probably will make some cookies and muffins. That's about it for the day! I need to go and find a dress and heels to take with me to New Mexico for Michael's Grandfather's Memorial, but I will wait on that until Sunday when the kids are at my Mom's. I looked some yesterday but had no luck.

    Wishing everyone a great Wednesday!!

    Good Morning Everyone.

Good Grief on your plans blowing up and then not getting a good night's sleep and then the car troubles Janet. It's like the saying goes ... "no good deed goes unpunished". You planned such a nice time for your guests. Hope the mice don't make an appearance and the girls sorta forget it.

Hope the sun comes out for you soon Michelle. It's sun shine here this morning but that could change in an hour. When it's dark and gloomy for days it really influences your mood.

Not much planned here today other than the usual. Will visit DH later this afternoon and go to the gym. On the way home I want to stop in Costco for a whole roaster chicken (they sell organic) because I want to prep one for Saturday to do in the crock pot. I need a few other items too.

Did they capture the escaped convict yet Karen??

I hope the kids get to go swimming and a nice boat ride or something to help them get used to it there. It sounds like a perfect day for that there today. We never had mice in our cottage so I can kinda sympathize with them on that. Sorry, you didn't get a good night's sleep and your back is hurting from soft mattresses. Hopefully, the car will be easily fixed too and then things might go as planned. Your dinner sounds perfect for today.
Have fun with the kids, swimming lessons, Michelle. Sorry to hear about Michael's Grandfather's passing:(
Enjoy your visit with DH and going to the gym.
I hope you arrived home safely, Karen.
No much happening here today. I will probably putter around the house. We ended out having pork chops for dinner last night so chicken it will be tonight.
    Wishing everyone a great day!

Have fun at swim lessons MIchelle and then shopping afterwards. Sorry to hear about Michael's Grandfather. Did this just happen?

I'm not a fan of that saying Linda. :) Have a good visit with your DH and at the gym.

The kids hopped in to the water briefly Joce. Their Mom admits to being a 'princess' and really over reacts when she sees bugs, etc. too so of course the girls are going to be alarmed. Everyone has their pressure points. JIm called a local garage. They are all booked up this week but said he could bring it over to run diagnostics on it at least. I could go for some porkchops. :)

Oh, I see, Janet. No good for the kids if she keeps overreacting about things in front of them. I hope the car is just something simple for your sake.

My condolences too Michelle on your GFIL passing. Is NM a far trip for you to make?

Janet can you place anything under the mattress for more support? Or even on top of it like a folded blanket to help your back?

Ye,s Linda that is a good idea. I have heard of people putting plywood under the mattress to help it be harder. Maybe Jim's Dad has something like that hanging around the cottage somewhere.

    Good afternoon!

Janet, too bad the girls' mother is such a wuss. They have missed out on having such fun! I don't have much sympathy. Good luck on the car. The suggestion of putting plywood under the mattress is a good one. My sympathies to you. We will have to replace the RV mattress because it hurts our backs.

Michelle, condolences on the passing of your GFIL.

    Hi Joce and Linda.

Had a doctor appt with our new family doctor. He seems quite good and not a pill pusher, for sure.

The escapee is not caught. I doubt if they know where he is......we keep our eyes open and are cautious, just in case.

Stopped at the Dollar Tree and bought some odds and ends. Wayne. Likes one brand of soap and I noticed they were running low so picked up some more while I could still get it.

It is going to be hot today! May have to close the doors and turn on the a.c.

Brought the car to the garage and the guy said it was some sort of air flow problem. He thinks we'd probably be safe to drive it home and get it back to our mechanic. Went for a walk through "The Sculpture Forest" which is a trail with art exhibits along the way. The guys stopped in to another Brewery on the way home.

I don't think there's any plywood pieces here Linda, but thanks for thinking of it. I'll just suck it up and head home Friday.

I don't have a lot of sympathy either Karen. She's a super nice person other times but she's being quite selfish and self absorbed at the moment. :( Too bad you have to replace the RV mattress. That's good that you like the new Dr.

Have a good workout and shop at Costco Linda!

Hi Joce, chicken sounds perfect :)

It's nice that the kids are swimming and forgetting about the mice and mesquitoes Janet. That's good that the garage is at least going to run some test on your car.

Glad you like your new doctor Karen, I finally found one I am happy with too a couple years back. Now I just have to find a new gynecologist which I'm dreading, mine retired :( TMI?? :P

Michael's Grandfather passed away earlier this year, but they decided to not hold a service until everyone could be there, since he wanted to be cremated and I guess buried in New Mexico. Don't they still put a casket in the ground even when someone is cremated? Not sure how it works. So basically Bri and I are landing back in Houston after our Costa Rica trip then hopping straight onto a plane 4 hours later to New Mexico. Michael and Caiden will meet us at the New Mexico airport to pick us up.

Well, last minute I decided to head to the gym. I have been in a rut with that and today started to stop being lazy :) I pulled out a pork tenderloin and wanted to do Pork Lettuce Wraps but now I don't have time to get it into the crockpot. I may just do it on the stove top and I'm sure it will taste the same. My Mom had come down to watch the kids swim lessons and last minute they cancelled them because of pool problems. Really, she just drove an hour for that? Anyway, so I ended up meeting her for lunch at the mall and we did some shopping too, and I found a dress! Yay, so that is one more thing checked off my list :) Only have time to make cookies now so the muffins will be put on hold.

Glad you like your new doctor, Karen. Mattresses can be a pain if you don't like them.

Michelle, No casket is involved with cremation. Either the ashes which are in a box or urn are put into the ground or you can take them home with you. I have my brother's ashes here in my house. Nice, you were able to meet up with your mom for lunch and do some shopping too. I am pleased you found a dress.

Hello to all. Very warm 93F here right now. Had a few raindrops but that was it for now. Thunderstorms are predicted for this evening though. Hope things are calming down with the girls Janet. I'm sure they will enjoy the dinner you are making. Have you done the water balloons you were planning? That would certainly take their mind of mice and things. Hoping you get a better nights rest tonight. Yipes on the car trouble but sounds like you can make it home ok. Bummer on the swim lessons getting cancelled and your mom coming down to watch them, Michelle. But nice on lunch and the new dress! Hope they find that prisoner soon Karen!!

Well I got some delightful news from Michael this morning. He is coming home!!!!!!! Will be here sometime Saturday evening. Have not seen him since Christmas so very excited!! Will be here for a week. He will be back in August for a shorter stay and then leaves the country the first of September. Instead of Germany he is now going to Poland. Confuses me but hey.........that's the military! At least it's still not South Korea!!! Would die a thousand deaths right now if that were the case. Such a scary place to be right now! My husband says Poland is very beautiful and he will be able to travel when he is on leave so happy about that. Not happy about him being gone for 9 months to a year in a foreign country but again.........that's the military life. And so NOT NOT happy about him not being home for Christmas this year! I've been spoiled the last few years with no deployment. So tomorrow will be a short work day for me as I MUST get to the grocery store to prepare for him. Have to get his Cheez Its crackers he loves and some other favorite snacks and drinks and rearrange the menu for next week with his favorites. Not a chore, but a delight............

Dinner tonight is just take out from Steak N Shake. Didn't feel much like cooking and wanted to work on my list for the grocery store. Can y'all tell I'm excited, lol!!!! And Michael gets to meet little Chloe for the first time. That will be fun!

Hope all enjoy the rest of the day!

Aaawhhh just got the sweetest phone call from my grandson. He is suppose to spend the night Friday as his mom will be out of town. He called to ask if he could spend tomorrow night too as it would just be easier since I am already watching him during the afternoon after summer school while Mom works. That way she won't have to bring me back Friday morning. Daughter says this was totally his idea, lol, and it was ok if I said no. Who would say no to that, lol! Loving it. Grammie Fest is on tomorrow!!!!!!!! What Happens At Grammie's House........Stays At Grammie's House, lol.................

    Sleep Grammie Sweet All............as always...............
