Wake Up Wednesday

  • mommyluvs2cook 7 years ago
Morning! My last few mornings have been pretty entertaining waking up with Briauna and helping her get ready to wear all her themed outfits :) Wish I would have snapped a quick picture of her this morning darnit!! Tomorrow will be easy, it's wear your favorite team jersey day, so of course she will wear her Texan's jersey. Caiden's day today was wear you favorite shirt backwards lol. The younger kids have easy stuff, that doesn't require much thought or going out an buying things, which I think I like haha :P

The kids have half school days for the rest of the week because of parent/teacher conferences, so we are going to get some shopping done. Bri's team is doing a Halloween tournament that we are doing this weekend where each team + coaches and team mom's dress up and play in the costumes. We also get judged and if we win we get our entry fee back, which will be somewhere between $150 and $200. Our team is dressing up as nerds. We were trying to do something that hasn't been done before, that's what the judges looks for. The dead softball player, zombie softball player and vampire softball players have been done OVER and over, so hopefully we will be different :)

After that we head to Bri's school for her conference which she will be in charge of, somehow? She will be leading it supposedly? Not sure how this works out, but I guess we will see! Carving pumpkins tonight, I'll try and find a picture of the one Bri want's to do with hers, it's cute!

Below is the way we ALL felt after this weekend, pooped!!

    Good Morning Everyone!!

Too cute Michelle! and lot's of fun dressing the kids up or different for the week. Good Luck with the Halloween tournament thingy ... hope the kids's theme wins! Understandable with all the activity how you all can be "pooped".

How are you feeling today Janet? Hope your pulled tooth isn't giving you too much grief.

Got's to make a bowl of washed mixed salad greens for the bunny and after that will make a large batch of meatloaf then portion and freeze what I won't be baking tonight. I'm undecided if I want to bake tonight's meatloaf or grill it. I've never grilled meatloaf mix but why not. I'd make two patties and grill just like a burger but will make a little gravy and mashed potatoes and steamed peas to go with it. What do you think ... bake or grill? For that matter has anyone ever pan-fried meatloaf mix?

Good Morning Michelle! Love the pic of Caiden. "You can tell you've had a busy day when.....". :) Nice on the 1/2 days for the kids for the rest of the week. That and the dress up stuffat school. Fun! That Halloween tournament sounds festive. Wow on getting your fee back if you win. What are you going to dress up as? And carving pumpkins this evening. I miss that. I could still do one and perhaps I should. It does add to the celebrations. I have to remember to go in town and buy some rockets to munch on too. Now that we don't get any Trick-or-treater's or have kids in the house, I don't decorate as much, but, I do like to watch Halloween movies on the T.V. and I do sometimes still try make scary appetizers or a Halloween themed dinner. Again, Miss Michelle, you lead a very busy life. :)

Hubby has come down with a cold. His sister had a cold when we last saw her a week ago yesterday and then the two year old we had over Saturday had one as well, so he's picked it up from one of them.

Low key day for us today I think. I want to make a batch of
    Polish Dill Pickle Soup
for lunch. Not quite sure on dinner yet.

Cheese omelette with ham, onion and mushroom is on the breakfast menu. Slept in a little which felt great. Still on my second cup of coffee. Our Ottawa Sens Hockey game didn't start last night 'til 10 p.m. (they played out in Vancouver, so had to deal with the time change). We stayed up 'til 11 but then hit the hay so are watching the end of it this morning on the PVR.

I'd bought myself a new Recipe binder at least a year ago. But when I transferred my recipes over they all didn't fit. It's quite a schmozzle really. Since I use the recipes a lot, I decided I should just divvy them all between two binders, one for Seafood, Beef, Meat, and Chicken and the second one for Appetizers, Soup, Salad, Rubs/Marinades, Bread and Desserts. I'm about 1/4 of the way through and optimistic it'll work out.

    Wishing everyone a great Wednesday!

SP Linda! Tooth (or lack of) LOL, feels great this morning. I did take two batches of Tylenol in the night but it would have worn off by now. What a relief to have that all over and done with! When you say meatloaf mix what does that mean exactly? To me, a meatloaf is ground hamburg, onions, and seasonings, packed in a loaf pan and baked, often with a topping. If you portion it out in burgers and grill it then isn't that grilled burgers with gravy? Or Salisbury steak if you pan-fry it? All more or less the same ingredients I guess, but different. LOL. "Hi" to Bella! Hope she enjoys her greens.

Good news that the tooth extraction is not bothering you Janet. Meatloaf mix = equal portions of ground beef, ground pork, ground veal. Used for making meatloaf and meatballs. It's what I grew up with to use and am use to.

That's neat that you use all three types of meat for a meatloaf mix. That's a very similar idea to how French Canadians here make Tourtiere.

What a slow start to the day! Had a Skype call with Benjamin which lasted a lovely one hour and fifty minutes. It was so great just to have a nice long chat. Then we just, just finished watching the last 7 minutes of the Sens Game. We won 2-0! Yay! Fed my birds and squirrels and now I'd best get out unload the dishwasher and get that soup started as it's almost lunchtime. LOL!
Pulled out some haddock from the freezer and will make Panfried fish with a beet salad on the side I think for dinner.

Lol, Caiden is so cute! I love your profile pic of the girls too, love the green tutut's! Good-luck with the Halloween tournament, I hope your team wins their entry fee back! :)

Hi Linda, I bake mini meat-loaves all the time but never tried grilling. Pan frying would be just like Salisbury steak :)

Hi Janet, glad your tooth extraction isn't bothering you! Hopefully it heals up nicely with no problems! Sorry Jim is sick too, ugh, why do people go out visiting when they are sick? Lol, that's my biggest pet peeve! Hopefully it's just a small cold. Nice on the chat with Benjamin! Boo on the Canucks losing, *snicker* Lol... ;) ;)

Colter is still at home sick. Though he will have to go to school tomorrow and catch up and bring work home since there is no school on Friday. He is much better though, just mainly a stuffed up nose now. I just wanted him to get extra sleep and rest.
I was going to go to town and shop, but it's still extremely foggy out. They even cancelled busses etc...so I'm staying home. I'm going to make a potato soup for dinner with all the baked potato fixings. And I have just enough ingredients in the crisper to make a garden salad to go with. And a homemade Ranch dressing.
Sophia has a ton of work to catch up on too, so homework all evening again. She had a math quiz today. Then we're in for a busy November with doctor, optometrists, dentists and physio appt's, teacher meetings etc...oi vey...

Have a great day everyone :)

I sure don't miss the days of having homework even though it was in a land long long ago (LOL!). Happy to hear your DS is feeling better Shona. I'd stay in too with the fog.

Oh no on your DH getting a cold Janet. Hope he gets over it soon and hope he's not like mine when he gets sick, you would think he had the most deadly disease ever to hit man-kind.

I can be so dumb at times. I really wanted meatloaf today, been craving it ever since Kimmer mentioned it and today was the day to make it. What did I do ... I pulled out and thawed Pork Chops for dinner. I still made up the meatloaf, portioned it, and froze it because I had to do something with it today because it was nearing expiration and tomorrow isn't good. At least it's in the freezer now for when I want it which I'm hoping Friday. Got 3 meals out of it for us.

Wise to stay home if it is so foggy Shona. Glad Colter's feeling better.Potato soup sounds yummy. Yikes and good luck on all your appointments in November.

LOL Linda! I'd hazard a guess that the majority of men, and CERTAINLY mine get Man-colds. Goodness. You'd think they were on their death bed. Rolling eyes. JIm's isn't bad at the moment so he hasn't reached the whiny point but that may still be coming. Your meatloaf will just hit the spot so much sweeter when you have it on Friday! Tourtiere is a very French Canadian dish usually served over the Christmas holidays. And yes indeed, that Brie with apples and pecans looks wonderful.

Had to run to the store and get some celery for my soup as I was all out. Picked up some really nice smoked meat and made toasted smoked meat sandwiches with mustard and pickles for lunch. Deelish.

Wow, another long day but I have to take a break. The kitchen arrived, all 170 boxes. Everything had to be accounted for and counted. One would think that a company the size of Ikea would be able to put the items in numerical order but no, not so. What a PITA.

Really cute costumes, Michelle and nice on the half days. Good luck at the tournament and costume contest. Caiden looks totally exhausted.

I used to but meatloaf mix but I haven't seen it offered in years, Linda. We used to have a bunny but had to re-home it as my daughter was allergic to Jeremy. They do like their greens.

I agree with the others, children that have a cold should be kept home and not spreading their germs around. I don't decorate much anymore either but we used to go all out. Hope that your DH feels better soon. Yum on the omelette. I did the binder thing years ago and it was helpful but then I uploaded everything to Evernote. That's a long chat, our son hates talking on the phone or Skype. We were luck to get five minutes.

I hope that Colter feels better soon, Shona. Good call on staying home, I really dislike driving in fog. Your potato soup sounds interesting, I've never had it.

Lol, Linda. I guess that I'm really lucky because DH isn't that way at all when he's sick.

Oh my gosh, Janet. I've been craving smoked meat on rye for weeks, lucky you.

I have a big pot of Beef And Barley Soup on the stove for the freezer. We don't eat a lot of take-out so I'm feeding the freezer for next week.

Tourttiere was always eaten on Christmas Eve with pickled beets at home. Here's the recipe that's been in the family for decades. French Canadian Tourtiere if anyone's interested.

I had best get dinner going, I still have things to do before the demo crew come tomorrow.

    Have a great evening everyone.

Hello all. Hope all are having a delightful day.

Glad you are doing well with your tooth that is no longer there Janet! I remember the fun dressing up days when the kid's were younger. Our high school does that for homecoming week. Last year Cayce and his friend went as twins. They were adorable. Course you can't tell teenage boys that! This year he didn't participate for whatever reason. Pic of Caiden is too cute. That's my grandson's name too, only spelled with a K.

LOL, Linda on the meatloaf craving. That happens around here. With the recent talk of pork chops, well.......having pork chops tonight! Decided on smoked pork chops since that is the boys fav. Macaroni and cheese and green beans. Might pop some dinner rolls in the oven. Have some garlic butter that needs used up so just might do that. Pretty sure I have a bag of rolls in the freezer.

Good to hear Colter is feeling better. Hubs feels like he is coming down with something today.

Been fun with the wedding plans starting to come around. Date is set for July 1, 2017. Daughter likes the 7/1/17 , lol! Honeymoon is booked. They are taking a cruise to Jamaica. Have to laugh at them though, honeymoon is booked but not the venue for the wedding!!! Guess they got a good deal on the cruise though if they booked this early. Been looking around at places for the wedding. Everything is soooooo expensive! I think especially here in Florida. But I'm sure it will all get sorted out. They do not want "a stuffy church wedding", as my daughter calls. A minister will probably do the service though. Anyway, all unknown things yet to come!

Well, it's after 5 and time for a cocktail. Hope all enjoy the rest of the day and evening and I will say a Sleep Sweet..................as always..............

My DH seems to be having his "period" this week. I just about want to scream he has been so cranky. I thought he went thru "men" opause already. Geez Oh Pete!!

Holy Cow Bren! 170 boxes!! I just can't imagine it. Where on earth are you putting them?
I can only get meatloaf mix at one store here and that's at Winn Dixie, nobody else carries it let alone even knows what it is.
Beef Barley soup is one of our favorites. I made it every other weeks for a few years before DH finally tired of it. Saved your meat pie recipe too!

Oh Kimmer ... I have been craving meatloaf ever since you mentioned it. I love the leftovers too next day in a sandwich. I can't believe what a ding-bat I was today but the pork chops were good, I rubbed them with Dijon mustard, sprinkled with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and Italian herbs and grilled.
I can appreciate the 7/1/17 date!! Good for them. Wishing them the best and too it'll all come together.

170 boxes of kitchen cabinetry. Holy Smokes Bren! That's a lot of work. Phew. I have the majority of my recipes online but I still prefer to have a written/printed recipe in my kitchen to work from. Just like reading the paper is nicer in print or books etc. Guess i'll probably change over eventually. You ARE lucky if your hubby doesn't turn 3 when he gets sick. You are one of the very few women I've ever heard of that doesn't have a husband like that. :) The smoked meat I bought from the store was remarkable. I was very pleased. Nice and moist. I heated it up in the microwave first before putting it in the sandwich. It was yummy. Yummers on your Beef and Barley soup. Love that stuff. Love beets of all types and pickled beets. Your tortiere recipe sounds great. I bookmarked it. Good luck with the demo tomorrow. Sleep well tonight. :)

LOVE smoked pork chops Kimmer. The whole dinner sounds wonderful. The wedding plans sound wonderful. As does a Jamaican honeymoon. Enjoy your cocktail. Sleep sweet.

ROFL at your husband having his period this week Linda. I guffawed out loud at that paragraph. :) I do hear and understand though. Jim, knock on wood, hasn't gotten any worse and he's even talking about coming into town with me tomorrow to run errands. I have to get a blood test tomorrow morning so will fast and then grab brekkie at McD's afterwards. Your pork chops sounded delicious.

Tine for another break, I am exhausted!!

The boxes are flat and not really large but some are heavy. They take over the entire family room.

I think that I bought the meat loaf mixture at A&P and there isn't one in the area anymore.
That pie recipe is as old as the hills.

LOL at DH having his period, Linda. Yum on the pork chops, they sound good!!

Hi Kimmer. I think that you got us all going with the meatloaf. I think that the date that they set is sweet!!

Hubby gets really quiet when he's sick and just wants to be left alone which is fine with me, Janet. Mmmm on the smoked meat.

It took us at least four hours to count the boxes and match them to the numbers on the three page list. I hope that I never have to do that again. Three were damaged and they will have to send new ones. Six were missing, sigh, and they have to search for them.

I had best keep moving as it's getting late and there are still things that need doing.

Ok so no sleep sweet yet, lol. Dinner was delightful. Really hit the spot. Wow Bren on the boxes and the damaged and missing ones! I'm sure you will get it all sorted out. I don't buy a "mix" already put together for the meatloaf. Just buy 1lb ground beef and 1lb ground pork per meatloaf. The other day with the whole family here, made two, which was 2lb each.

Had a very interesting and somewhat disturbing event happen tonight and not sure what to think about it. We have only lived in this neighborhood since May. Most neighbors we have met are delightful. Especially the ones right behind us and right beside us. We live on a cul da sac and there is only one other house on our street. Well tonight after dinner I went to sit out on the back porch. I have to admit, I had one of my sneezing attacks as I sometimes do with my allergies. I have severe allergy attacks on occasion that include coughing and sneezing. Usually it is under control but not so much tonight. Well suddenly, out of no where this woman starts screaming at me. It was the neighbor that is kitty corner, so to speak, from us. Have never had any contact with them at all but know neighbor directly behind us does not like them. Apparently they drink and party all night long, most nights, very loudly. We do not hear that at night given the direction of our homes, even though we do share a fence on that corner. But our nice neighbor apparently does. She was literally at the fence, could just see her eyes and a bit of her nose yelling at me to get the f@$k inside your house before I take you out, all you do is cough and sneeze and you are ruining my night! OK, well now enter German husband and my dog, German shepherd. Hubs was livid, dog was nearly thru the fence by this time. He is my protector and came flying out of the house and slammed the fence right next to her. Had that fence give way.....well.......would not have fared well for her. Then she starts screaming that she will have my dog put down and blahblahblahblah. Then her husband finally comes out. Gets her back inside and apologizes for her saying she has PMS really bad and just goes crazy sometimes.......as he says with a bit of a laugh! WTF.....this woman just threatened my life and my dogs! My husband told him that if she ever, ever threatens his wife or his dog again that all bets are off. (he already had his gun in his hand, which I don't really like him having.......but he does) We called the sheriff and made a report and statement. Wow! Welcome to the neighborhood!!!! One reason we picked this neighborhood was it seemed like such a family friendly place. Guess there is one in every neighborhood! Yikes! Her husband said to mine, oh don't worry, tomorrow they will be best friends.........NOT! Next time I let my dog eat you!

Well enough of that, I have settled down but man, that was nerve wracking!!!!!!!

    I WILL sleep sweet!

    Hello everyone.
Have been MIA Busy as usual. Rachel is away at college. She doesn't love being so far but is coming home this weekend for a visit. Which means I have to drive 4 hours on Friday or get her and bring her back and that's without traffic which there seems to always be!
I gave my notice at Macys today. I got a new job. Another office type job. It has many titles lol. Property mgr/officemgr/project coordinator. My friends sister recommended me for the job. During the negotiations he offered chocolate covered strawberries (he owns a few edible arrqingement stores) and his last offer he had thrown in beer and wine on Fridays. I texted my friend and said. What the heck did Roseanne tell him about me lol but really how can you refuse that?

Crazy about the neighbor what an idiot!
