Good Morning Everyone! Rushing out the door as per usual on a weekday. It's cool here today and supposed to cloud over again this evening and rain tomorrow.....again! Am making an old Campbell's soup recipe this evening for "Salisbury Steaks" with Mushroom soup and I'm going to give Lori's Green Bean Recipe a try to go on the side along with some new potatoes.
Easy Easy Greek Style Green Beans
    Have a great day everyone!

    Good Morning!
    Wow,vacation weeks go fast!
Taking a drive today to discover the many covered bridges we have not seen yet. Also going to the Brick store in Meredith, the oldest country store in the country. Will take a picnic lunch since we have some cold cuts to eat and a bottle of wine. Tonight will be dinner again at the Common Man. So good!

Never had before. Actually, the best part of the meal. Stuffed with parmesan risotto, spinach and sausage. The eggplant in parm overcooked and didn't care for their sauce. Arancini rocked!

    Good Morning!
Just read all the posts I missed from last nite!
Laurie I am so glad that Becca's swelling has gone down! Isn't that something, and she thought of that all on her own!
DT - thanks for the compliments on the burger recipes! I love experimenting with burgers! Can't wait to hear how you like them.
Wynne, does Les have any idea how long the split shift is going to last?
Pat, it just sounds like you are having the best trip!
Hope you enjoy the green beans, Janet!
P - good luck with the tire shopping, etc. Not fun.
Hey to eveyrone else! CRAFT is rampant and I can't remember everything going on.
Where you hiding, Ang? Ready for the Survivor opener and the Big Brother finale? Did you read about Britney's house fire? Wonder if they will tell her, and/or let her leave the jury house?
Well, the pre-marinated chicken breasts were not too special. Bryan thought they were bland, he didn't taste any seasoning. ALL I tasted was rosemary...which I don't really care for. (I think it was rosemary...it had a Pine-y "aroma" in the back of your throat and nose after each bite, if that makes sense). But they were small and grilled up really quick, so that was good. I am going to have to marinate them in something additional next time...just not sure what.
Leftover spaghetti at my house tonite.
    HAPPY HUMP DAY!

    Hey, y'all! :-)

Already at work this morning. Beautiful day down here--supposed to be in the 90's today (yes, in September!)...I've got a HUGE pork roast in the crock pot. Going to make bbq out of it and do sammiches & fries. Frozen bbq is even better after it's "married" for a while.

Other than that---waiting for the bomb to drop on the estate thing. He'll sh*t the proverbial brick. Keeping that part off facebook front pages---BUT that's what the Enola Gay post was about on Thurs on the FB page.

I'll keep y'all up to date. I miss our connections on here every day--Love y'all and hadn't forgotten about anyone! :-)

    Hugs & nose ring yanks,
    --Kn0x--

    good luck Knox!
If you want to be adventurous I have an arancini recipe posted but its a lot of work and you really do better with two people. traditional arancini has peas, mozerella cheese and and ground beef in the middle.
$143.00 at the vet UGH! she was such a good girl, let them take blood and cut her nails. Even the tech was impressed.

    Good morning everyone!

Janet, I have yet to attempt the spinach & feta burgers. Once I do and if they are good, of course, I will post them. Perhaps I'll try it next week. Of course, only problem is I am soooo squeamish about the meat that I haven't gotten myself to mix burger meat for anything! Not burgers, meatballs, meat loaf...or anything else that requires it. So I have to get my guy on board with the idea b/c he'll most likely be the one doing the dirty work. I do think he'd enjoy some of yours though, Lori :) And those green beans sound delicious! Will have to try them sometime soon.
Oh and regarding the Crock Pot, I've had that experience a lot where the food comes out with a certain flavor that I just identify as the crock. However, when I did Chicken Lickin Good Pork Chops I did not taste that. I have seen that there are plastic liners that go in the crock & at the time thought they were just for easy clean up but perhaps they help with protecting the flavor of the food. I'm just guessing. I did find this website and read through some but not all of what it has to say: http://www.crockpotliners.net/Crock-Pot-Liners.html

I have to say I've never heard of or had arancini before and I feel cheated! Laurie, yours look SO good. Next time I'm out for Italian I will have to try them. Perhaps will take on the challenge to make them myself one day...

Pat, I'm so glad you're having such a good time! Sure the week goes by fast, so savor every moment (I'm sure you are!).

Laurie, glad your daughter is starting to show signs of improvement. Let us know how the nutritionist consultation goes. I'd be curious to hear.

Laura, have a safe trip. Everyone else, good to hear from you & hope you all have a great day.

Oops, all that and I didn't even talk about dinner tonight. DUH! Last night's dinner was wonderful but I didn't make the stuffed tomatoes because I realized a little late that I was missing some ingredients and didn't feel like running to the grocery. So I'll be making stuffed tomatoes tonight. I think I'll also be trying Pork Scallopini With Mushrooms And Rosemary and Italian Parmesan Potato Wedges as well.

Janet your dinner sounds great. Guess I have never seen that Campbell's recipe. Will look it up.
Pat your vacation sounds like it has been delightful with lots of great food. Hope Phil takes lots of pictures of the covered bridges. can't wait to see them.
Lori - sorry the chicken breasts weren't spiced very well. But like you say you can always add to them. The chicken casserole was really good - hubby said "Make this again!" Quite the compliment!
Laurie so glad Becca's doing better - can't wait to hear what the nutrionist has to say.
Knox great to see you here again. Missing your chat on here - you always have such a great sense of humor.
    Have a safe trip Otter.
    DT your dinner sounds wonderful!
Flat iron steak and baked potatoes with sliced tomatoes from the garden. Hope the rain holds off - I don't like cooking in the rain!

Okay so we met with the nutritionist, she wasn't all for the Gluten free diet. But felt a healthier diet was the key. gave her a diet plan that she can follow gluten free or not gluten free. Stopped by her doctor's office to see about a blood test to see if she has a gluten allergy. BUT can't take the test if you are doing a gluten free diet. I think we are going to stick with Rebecca's original plan, which was stay 100% GF until she goes to the birthday party on Sat. Then see how she feels. But still waiting for the doctor to call me.

Judy, nice to see you as always.
The general store was great. Bought some fantastic fudge, smoked cheese and smoked pepperoni. Great place. Stopped at an orchard and farm stand and got apples that were just picked yesterday and some homemade apple butter. Saw 2 more covered bridges. Phil got pics.
Will let you know about dinner later!

I'm here, Lori. Had an obnoxious toothache this morning when I got up. Took Karma to school, got home, took some pain medicine and went back to bed for most of the day. I don't know when I'm going to get to go to the dentist....will have to make an appointment soon, I'm sure. Finally got that chicken sandwich I've been craving! Sent Jess to the store for some chicken patties yesterday. It was either spend 5 on the one sandwich at the Cafe or spend 5 for a whole bag of patties and I can make my own. LOL

Yeah, I heard about Britney's house from BBDish earlier. That really sucks for her. Hopefully she will get America's Vote for the $25,000. I voted for her...

Since it is such a big T.V. night it'll be eat what you can find. Made a huge meatloaf last night so there is plenty of that leftover. I'll probably have another chicken sandwich. :)

Yeah, i voted for her too, Ang. I wondered if they let her leave last nite...so she could fill out insurance papers, etc today, but their thinking probably is that one day won't make a big difference. I tell you, if I was her I would be raising cane for them to let me out of there...if they told me that is. She may not even know until after the show tonite!! Sad thing. I saw on BB Dish they they were renters and may not have even had renters insurance (but who really knows)...I hope she gets the 25K regardless. She deserves it.

Just read on BBdish twitter: Britney will NOT be told. They were saying on the live feeds she kept telling Nick to get renter's insurance. Wonder if she had a feeling. Heck, maybe the whole thing was set up? You know me...skeptical.

Lots of reading to catch up! Spent yesterday with my mom and then Brad came home early... so never got on here yesterday. Grilled hamburgers last night - guess I wasn't the only one craving them I see! Just got back from Costco and I got some Prime Top Sirloin, curious just how good it will be. Never bought prime before. Don't usually buy top sirloin either. Anyway, that's what's for dinner - gonna grill 'em and a big salad with my little sweet tomatoes that are putting out like crazy! Can't keep up with them.
Pat, I'm so glad you are enjoying your vacation - sounds like you're doing a lot of fun stuff! Can't wait to see Phil's pics of the bridges, etc.
Laurie, glad Becca's neck swelling is down - my brother tries to eat gluten free and it has helped a LOT with his pain (a form of an inflamatory type of __ itis) I sure hope you can figure it out for her.
Hey to all of you! Shoulder's bugging me... gonna go lay down on the couch for a nap (if I can)

Only took 3 days to finish off that stock pot of creamy macaroni. Now I have room in the fridge for some koolaid. Usually make it in 5 gallon batches. This months flavor is orange.
Got 2 new tires for the car. Now to find some more bush hog jobs to pay for the other two tires. What a difference it makes. No more singing the faster I go down the road. I can feel improved responsiveness and I am a whole lot less worried as I drive. I feel caressed in safety again, sort of like listening to Rush Limbaugh on the radio, the timbre of his voice, it comforts me.
Yea though I walk through the valley of liberals............................................
I have some pears to can that have spent the last two weeks ripening in the fridge and mother wants me to make some ice cream. It will be vanilla flavor this time but the pears have to come first. They are perfect right now for canning.

Went to the Common Man again! Excellent. Had almost escargot, mushrooms bake in garlic, butter,a little bernaise sauce and browned on top with cheddar cheese. To die for. Special was a lamb shank braised in red wine, carrots, onion and celery served ove homemade mashed and green beans on the side. Cooke to perfection and delicious. Phil had a seafood saute, also excellent. Wednesday is half price on a bottle of wine so I had a bottle of red and Phil white. Brought the rest back here. Going to veg and watch Master Chef and Top Chef.

It's been a long week already and it's only Wednesday! Tonight was crockpot beef and beans over rice - not special but tasty. Tonight is high school football again - hopefully a better end result than last week! It is cold and rainy here for the third day in a row so we have packages of shingles sitting on our roof waiting to be installed if the weather ever improves. I have visions of piles of shingles still on the roof covered in snow in January. Tomorrow will be pork chops with gravy, mashed potatoes and corn I think.

Good evening everyone. Whew...not so sure I'm going to be able to get through all this reading, but let's see....
Laurie....glad to hear you got to see the Nutritionist for Becca. It'd be good to get that blood test done once she's ready.
Lori....the Green Bean Recipe was excellent. I'll eat green beans by themselves but I sure don't crave them, but this recipe really dresses them up and was an excellent side. I'm bringing a dish in for my boss to have at lunch tomorrow as she's a big Bean person and I think she's going to go ga-ga over them too!
Pat your day sounded excellent all the way through. I really liked smoked cheese. Do you just spread apple butter on toast? A customer of mine at the store gave me a jar last year but I really didn't know what to do with it. I think it's probably still sitting in my fridge.
Hi Judy! Have a good trip Laura!
Hi DT! I do beleive that Porkchop recipe is in my bookmarks file to try so thanks for the recommendation. I am an anti-plastic person so would not feel comfortable putting plastic liners in my crock pot and cooking my food in it. Too many little nasty chemicals to leach out in my opinion. Your dinner this evening sounds most excellent.
Hi Val. Hope the rain held off for you. Your dinner sounds great.
Hey Ang...hope your toothache feels better.
Hi Donna! Your dinner sounds delicious! Did you notice a difference with the Prime Top Sirloin?
Glad you are pleased with your new tires Points. Rush Limbaugh's voice has the opposite effect on me. I also think that the pear idea and the ice cream idea should meld into one!
Hi Michelle. There's still plenty of good weather yet to come this month I promise.

Pat, your dinners sound like they were delicious! Am I reading that right - was the dish called "almost escargot"?
Sounds like a good way to round off the night - wine and Top Chef. I just spent the afternoon catching up on three of the TCs I have missed - still one to go or two. Don't know if the winner has been announced yet, so don't tell me! LOL

Hey Michelle, beef and beans over rice sounds really comforting too. They put our new roof on last year (or was it 2 years ago?) anyway it was the coldest week ever - only 16ยบ! I guess rain is different, though. Good luck with it.

Janet, haven't eaten the steaks yet - I'm up in Wa and it's only just about 6 here. Been raining all day mostly too. Brad's on his way home. I've got mushrooms stuffed for appies and a bottle of red breathing. I've had the steaks rubbed all afternoon and did something different to 'em - cut some of my fresh herbs and laid them over 'em and wrapped in plastic wrap. Will take them off of course before grilling, but my idea is that the flavors will have "seeped in" - we'll see.
LOL P - sorry I'm with Janet on Rush Limbaugh's voice - it affects me in a whole nutha way! Enjoy that koolaid!

Laurie, those burgers your friend made sound good! I have some pepperoni in the fridge..hmm.. so many burgers to try! I wish we could eat burgers every day for a week ;-)
Pat, sounds like a great outing today. I can't wait to go to the apple cider mill. It's a special place for me and my beau. One of our first dates..first kiss. So mushy!! sorry all.
Oh but I'm still confused about the "almost escargot"...

Janet, I also try to avoid plastics and worry about the chemicals. Actually that's why I haven't bought them. I'd rather scrub a little. They say the chemicals don't come out but I don't trust that fully.

Dinner was wonderful. I would recommend both of Keni's recipes I linked (the potatoes and pork chops). I will post my stuffed tomato recipe soon. It was my first time and I don't like to toot my own horn but.... toot toot :-)

Called almost escargot,I think because they cooked the mushrooms the same style as the snails. I had escargot the first time on a cruise. It ws superb but if you don't want to try snails, this was wonderful. Just their play on words. Used the divided dish that would be used for escargot. Excellent!
