Wakey-Wakey Wednesday......

Good Morning Everyone! Made it to St. Catharines last night by about 5:30. Traffic was a bit bad coming through Toronto. Jim's brother grilled up a huge mess of pork ribs for dinner with a tossed salad, cauliflower (Ugh) and some green beans (didn't eat any of those either) :) and then our niece made a Coffee Creme Brulee (lovely) and home made gingerbread cookies for dessert. She's 13.
I'm the first one up this morning and am just out in the basement staying quiet 'til I hear other movement in the house. :) Had a nice little chat with Benjamin online. He had an interview yesterday, today and another lined up for tomorrow. Can't wait 'til he signs on somewhere and then he can relax. He's been burning the candle at both ends.
Jim and his brother are going golfing this afternoon at Hunter's Pointe, and then my SIL, niece and I will meet them at the Clubhouse for dinner this evening.

My SIL recently bought three Guinea Hens in the hopes she can let them range free and eat all the bugs in her garden. She got them back in May and says they don't appear to know enough to go out into the pen on their own and once out in the pen they don't appear to know enough to get back into the barn on their own. They're quite cute really. I'll take a picture of them today. My neice has named them Pips, Squeak and Chippie.
Glad your TV is back up and running Marie. LOL @ the remote always being in your hand. My Mom's TV remote control was also SO WELL USED, that the words and numbers were worn off. Which was actually a big PIA as she'd hit wrong buttons and get the TV into a bad state and then no one could figure out how to fix it as you couldn't tell what each button was for. When we were out visiting in May we FINALLY convinced her to change over to a new remote, so we're good for a couple of years now. :)
Joce, I feel SO bad for you being in such discomfort still from your surgery. I remember back when you had it done you said they told it it would take a few months before you were all healed but you'd think after 7 months you wouldn't still feel bad. I'm sure you've talked to your Dr. about it. Any light at the end of the tunnel possible? Or you just have to wait it out? Sorry on the tummy issues as well. I can't imagine. :( Feel better.
That's cool you have access to raised beds you can garden in Arlaina. Good luck making Samosas. I've wanted to do that for a couple of years now and just have never gotten around to it. Neat that you are involved with the arts and poet community.
Hope the house appointment goes well Thurs. Tina. Yum on all your yummy turkey ideas.
Wichata Falls Karen. Very fun. Don't know what LaQuinta (MSU one) means though. Sounds like a lovely dinner at the Olive Garden.
I can hear Jim yawning so am going to go hit the shower and begin my day. Hoping a Winery is on our to do list. :)
    Have a great day everybody!
    Wakey-Wakey! :)
Am sharing a pic of Benjamin's dinner. Fried rice with pork, kimchi, korean potatoes and something similar to Tofu.

Good Morning! I went to sleep 5 hours ago. Ugh. Olivia is stayed up all night coloring in an adult coloring book. Very intricate designs. It is supposed to be as comforting as therapy.

Janet, you crack me up with your mom and the remote. Funny. Poor guinea hens need Karen to teach them the ins and outs of fowl. Sending good wishes to Benjamin on the job hunt.

I've got items to get to the post, need stamps and have to get to the bank. Ugh.

Be well, my friends. I'm thinking dinner will be some kind of pasta.

I think the adult colouring books are awesome. I bought one a while ago and brought it to the cottage with me last week. Did a bit. It is therapeutic and brings one back to a nice place in time. Very comforting. :) Good luck with all your errands Tina.

I just got home from the dentist. They couldn't see me because they don't take my insurance thought they said they did when I made the appointment. I'll need to call my insurance and see who's on their preferred list. This morning before the appointment I had leftover spicy eggplant curry with cucumber raita and quinoa.that was last night's dinner. I'll be making it again. Not to bad to cook just took the eggplant a long time. Tonight I'm making Marie's Quinoa Edamame Salad. I have recipes scheduled until next Tuesday. Then I think I'll switch to cooking every other day and eat all the leftovers, or find more dishes for one. I need to take a shower and wash dishes and grocery shopping.

Janet, is Benjamin your son? Is he living abroad? What sort of job is he looking for? My landlord has chickens on the property. Are your sister in law's for eggs or meat? My landlord is a vegetarian.

Tina, I raised an eyebrow at the adult coloring book. I have seen that kind before, though.

Hi Marie! Hope you get all your errands done.
Michelle? Did you get lost in Penzey's? :)
I adore that Edamame salad of Marie's Arlaina. It's super good. Yes, Benjamin is my son, only child. He moved to Taipei, Taiwan 2 1/2 yrs. ago. He teaches English. His last two year contract is up in Sept. and he wants to switch to a different school that offers better pay, better hours and paid vacation. My SIL just got the Guinea hens to eat the bugs in her garden. Her daughter has named them so there will be no eating of meat occurring. :)

Arlaina, very funny on coloring book. It is Mehndi designs, not x-rated. Good idea on the every other day cooking. You might want to check out Frankieanne's recipes She is the IMI group admin. She makes a lot of dishes for one. I am newly widowed and I'm finding very hard to scale meals down. My hubby ate like a lumberjack.

Eyes are so blurry I walked into a wall earlier but I did not fall. Ran my errands until I decided I couldn't see well enough to drive. Doggone eyes.

Tomorrow is Sgt Major Doug's service at the Cathedral and followed with military service at Bay Pines. There will be hundreds there. Doug was a special man.

I ended up with an egg salad sandwich for supper. Three bean salad as my side.

Well, I've tried a few times to join in today's conversation, but things just seemed to pop up..all day long! Now I'm preparing dinner, just some turkey burritos..easy peasy..

Janet, I wish Benjamin the very best..I know he will find the perfect place to teach:)

Arlaina, that must be frustrating for the dental office to tell you they accept your insurance, then when you get there, they told you they don't...I find that different business's and doctors offices etc seem to get their signals crossed..a lot these days..enjoy the Quinoa Edamane Salad:) I hope you like it:)

Tina! I'm glad to hear you didn't fall, but walking into a wall HURTS! Hope you're ok...
That's quite a tribute to Sgt Major Doug, having such a turn out at his service..He must be a close friend..I don't remember you mentioning him..sorry:) Take care my dear:)

Joce, thinking of you..hope your feeling betterxoxox
    Hi Michelle:)

Tina, I'm sorry to hear about your husband. I wish him the honor he deserves and comfort for you and your family.

I will check out the I made it group. I just finished the edamame quinoa salad. Just waiting for it to cool. I made a few substitutions for ingredients I didn't have. I used dill instead of cilantro and left out the corn. Also, of course, New Mexico green chile instead of jalapeno.

Hi all! All the food your BIL cooked up sounds delicious Janet, I'd eat all of it :) Crossing fingers for Benjamin and getting a job. Have a good day with the family!

That is so funny that you mention adult coloring books Tina, I was just saw some of those today at Sam's. PLEASE be careful with your blurry sight...that's scary!

    Hi Marie, Bye Marie :)

Yum on your eggplant Curry Arlaina, sounds delish. We love Quinoa Edamame Salad, it's so good!

Got a lot of good stuff from Penzey's yesterday. We ate lunch at a restaurant called Thai Spice. http://thaispice.com/buffet2menu.htm I had the bowl of green curry with pork, it was SO GOOD and really spicy, just like I like :) Made a great beef bourguignon for dinner last night and it was delicious

Today I made a Sam's trip and came home cleaned Caiden Junior's (Caiden's fish) tank. Then I hunkered down and watched a couple movies. One was “Last Vegas” which is hilarious and the other “Changeling” with Angelina Jolie, which was a very good, but also a sad true story. Got a couple loads of clothes folded during the movies. Dinner tonight was leftover chicken and veggies. See everyone tomorrow, nighty night!

Doug was a regular patron of Sea Hags and the Toasted Monkey. We have been friends for 7+ years. He was the same age as my Fred and the two of them together was a sight to see. He taught Olivia how to golf and she was his favorite team member. He was a Notre Dame grad, a decorated Marine and you never saw him without a smile. He reminded me of Clarence from "it's a wonderful life" Kind, supportive and just one of the best, It wiil be a long day.

Michelle, I'm freaking out over the vision and the headache that is pounding along with it. My BP is high. I've been pushing the walking and housework and the more I do, the more I fall apart. We don;t have a Penzey's any where near us, but they have opened a new spice shop downtown. Once I move and purge my kitchen of old spices, I'll restock from the new store. The spice shop is next to a chocolatier, who wants to bet I'm stopping there too?

Hi. I am in bed and my feet propped due to swollen ankles. That is what riding all morning in a truck will do. Texas speed limit is 75 on some roads. I never got that high....ha ha! Convocation is good so far. I thought the first group was going to be terrible but was quite impressed.

Guinea are different than chickens. They roam all over eating bugs. Good luck getting them where you want them. Sorry not very helpful.

We had green beans as a veggie tonight, Janet. They were really good. Chicke breast rive and veggies. The dessert was a fruit tort, almost like cheese cake...blackberries, mandarin oranges and strawberries. Very good.

Hope your eyes get better, Tina. Michelle, I have an adult coloring book app on my iPad...it is nice. Hi Arlaina..Joce...Marie and anyone I missed. Wayne is about to turn off the lights. Ha ha. See you later.
