Wasabi Wednesday

  • mommyluvs2cook 8 years ago
Morning everyone!! Here is a little info on wasabi, I didn't know it was in the same family as cabbage! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wasabi So do you or do you not like wasabi?? I love it! Think I might stop and get some sushi today now :)

Going to get the kids their Valentines day goodies today. It usually consists of a box of chocolates and a stuffed animal. Also need to get Valentine cards for Caiden's class and stuff to decorate a shoe box for his Valentine party on Friday to collect cards :) Think I'm going to wrap it in red wrapping paper then have him cut hearts out of felt and glue on along with stickers. I forgot to ask Bri if she wanted to hand out cards to her friends but I doubt it, it probably isn't the "cool" thing to do lol :)

Tonight we are meeting Caiden's new T-ball coach and his team. His team is called the "Indians" which is cool considering Santa Fe's (our town) mascot is the Indian's. This year is going to be more competitive, as in keeping score and pushing the kids to do well. The past year it was more just for fun, and no score was kept. A little nervous as he runs a little slow. The leg he broke when he was 22 months old never healed up back to normal and is a little stiff. I was advised that he did not need therapy after he got his cast off, but now I'm thinking maybe he did? Oh well.

Dinner tonight is a recipe out of one of my cook books called Jalapeno Popper Chili. I'll post it if it turns out well :) Have a great day everyone!!!!

I like wasabi! Not so much straight wasabi, but I like the wasabi horseradish I have. It's creamy, and goes great on sandwiches, mashed potatoes, with beef etc... Unlike hot sauces and hot peppers it has a slight sting at first, then goes away. So I can tolerate the heat much better :)
It's never too late for therapy Michelle! Especially in kids. Colter didn't get therapy until he was 13, and he was born with his problems. It helped him a lot, I barely notice his limp anymore and his balance has improved. I also didn't get therapy until 10 years after my motorbike accident, and it really helped me too. The PT told us to massage his legs as he gets really stiff hamstrings, and stretch him out etc...they showed us everything we need to do at home, so even if you have to pay to go at first, at least they give you the knowledge for later on. We're lucky here, as PT is free until 18 yrs old, we just need a doctor referral for the Children's Hospital.
I hope your chili turns out awesome!

.I finally found some decent priced pork, but it was only pork loin boneless chops. So i'll make this Maple Mustard Pork Loin Chops
Gotta run and take the kids to school, have a great day everyone!

    Hi Michelle.

I like wasabi too - when I do pick up some sushi, which I like and Wayne prefers to substitute a sandwich! Ha. Love sushi with a bit of wasabi and just a dot of soy sauce (even tho I realize it is GMO based and should not have it).

Cool sounding valentine box. You have more imagination than I. Yes, Briauna is probably at the age where they would not give out cards because it isn't "cool"....love your avatar of her and (?) Pudding. How is her sick rat coming along?

Love the name for Caiden's team. Maybe they should play against the "Cowboys." [Groan groan - stupid joke.]

So sorry about his leg not healing correctly. I am guessing it would not be possible to correct after this long?

The ever changing Missouri weather now calls for about a half inch of snow today. My iPhone just flashed a weather statement that it was snowing "within 10 miles." Aargh! We have an Ash Wednesday service tonight so I hope the roads are not bad.

    Have good day.

    SP Shona.

Pork loin chops sound good. Great choice for dinner. We will probably be eating out because we are going to be on the road. Last night I fixed pan fried venison steaks and a spinach-strawberry-walnut salad. Felt so righteously healthy that I bought salted caramel ice cream from Schwanns later and had some. Ha ha.

Mauser is on a roll. She got into a snit with Mel - he is jealous, I think. She raced up the back of my chair. She escaped into the sun room. She attacked the package that Wayne's CPAP machine parts came in. She jumped on Trouble and insisted on rolling around scattering the papers she just knocked off the coffee table. She is rampaging through the living room and instigating Trouble to imitate her actions.

Our new Schwanns guy insisted on petting A.C. even tho I cringed and advised him of the possible consequences. A.C. faked "good cat" status admirably. He has a cat and I think A.C. smelled it on his jacket, because he was all over the guy.

    See you later.

No definitely no straight wasabi Shona!! I've only had wasabi mixed with soy sauce for sushi, but love the idea of it in sandwiches or even mashed potatoes, which I think Keni has a recipe for those :) I do think therapy would be good for Caiden. I agree, never too late. I'll start talking to Michael about that and looking into it a bit more. Your pork chops sound delicious!

Thanks for asking Karen, I just called Petsmart to see how Pudding is doing and they said she is eating great but still sneezing some. I really hope she makes it, which I think she will. Ratatouille died at the vet after not eating for a couple days so I feel like Pudding is doing good then. Lol, that would be hilarious if another teams name was the Cowboys :) Good luck with the snow :(

I have Oreo out who is running up and down the couch going crazy. She is also chasing my fingers as I type which makes it a little difficult lol.

    Tina Miss you
    Marie Miss you too!!

No wasabi will pass through the threshold of this house! I love mild horseradish but couldn't imagine eating wasabi with anything. I would definitely look into getting Caiden physiotherapy. I broke my leg skiing years ago and after the cast was off I went to physiotherapy for it and I have never had any problems with it since. Great idea for the Valentine Box for Caiden's Valentine's Party. Cute name for his T-ball team.
Your dinner last night sounds just awesome to me, Karen. I haven't had venison steaks in years.
Maple Mustard Pork Loin Chops looks like a good recipe, Shona.
I went to see my heart surgeon yesterday and he was a bit baffled by my pain. My heart is fine which is good. He didn't think my problems stemmed from the wires at all. He is referring me to a Pain Management Doctor to see if he/she can help me.
No sure what we are having for dinner yet.
    Wishing everyone a great day!

    Hi again.
Ha ha on the wasabi no-no, Joce and Michelle.

Michelle, LOL on Orea chewing on your fingers - I imagine it makes for some interesting typos.

Joce, good luck on the doctor's appointment for pain management for his back. Wayne went to one in Rolla but he just pushed pills and they made him so loopy I nagged at him until he finally quit taking them. The Dr. did help on his sleep apnea, though, to be fair.

Enjoy your skype session tomorrow morning, Janet. Have a good time with your company.

Wayne's buddy, girl friend, and step-GS stopped by today -- the one morning I decided to stay in my pj's and housecoat until time to get dressed and leave for church. Ha ha ha. Not the first time. I had just finished sweeping up the broken glass that one of the kitties knocked off the bathroom shelf, and sat down for a minute before sweeping the LR, when trouble landed on my lap and decided the fuzzy housecoat was made for her nap. Cats! So anyhow, they came and we had a cup of coffee (I'm high on caffeine now) and chatted for a while.

Had an appetizer-munchy-lunch. Doritos "scoopers" with a guacamole and/or beefy mushroom soup dip. Peppered salami. The salami was so-o-o-o spicy hot from the pepper coating that I had to remove it before eating the meat. Yipes! It is just us two tonight for church so we may sneak off early and eat at Miller's Grill, one of the nicer restaurants on the way. Well, about the only "nice" one -- the rest are mainly fast food and family style.

At least I had my housecoat on. LOL.
Yes his buddy has been here and I was caught in my pjs before ..... winter, heavy flannel ones thankfully. He ha said he would not be over then was on his way to run errands and decided to drop off some mail from fire department. Otherwise I was enjoying lounging about. Ha ha.
Of course, we did notice a slight odor of deceased rodent. Wayne had moved the traps out and NOT pitched them.....one was still set. I think it was there a couple of days before it was seen. Yuk. Ick. So he set five traps just in case another mouse shows up. That makes ten. But who is counting. I think the cold is driving them inside. Heard cloves deter them....after I go to the store the supply of cloves will be severely depleted.
