Where's the thunder Thursday

Rain was forecast yesterday but we just got a little drizzle. Sunshine forecast for today but it is sprinkling and cloudy and drab outside. Somewhere out there a mold is molding or a plant is pollinating or whatever - my eyes are watering, the cat's eyes are watering, Wayne is snifflling, even Homer looks miserable. BUT WE ARE ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE GROUND - yippee!

Tina, how was the sleep study?

We had planned on going to a friend's to pick some pears that are just ripening, but with the yukky, rainy day we might not. Persimmons were ripening but he he threw his back out so that was put on hold. Today might be a good day to check, but I have a feeling the deer have finished them by now. Maybe next year. I have some pears and may make jelly, but that is dependent on the persimmon status etc.

Wayne just suggested a visit to Sam's Club in Springfield, so since I need to stock up on some things, I think I can handle that! Better than housework, right!

    Have a good day, everyone!

Good morning Karen:) Love your kitty pictures..I haven't been keeping up here I'm afraid..has Ezra come back home? i sure hope so..

Joce, hope your feeling better today sweetie..thinking of you..

We're off to Chico for a service call..could be broken springs..anyhoo, I'm going to "help":)

Wishing everyone a great Thursday..it's almost the weekend:) Which reminds me, we going to the SR-71 Maintainers Annual Picnic in Yuba City this Saturday..it's a lot of fun and Rick has such a good time with all of his Air Force buddies he served with 30 years ago:) They are the ones who worked on aircraft, which included the U-2 & SR-71.

Dinner will probably be leftover grilled chicken & maybe potato salad (If I remember to make it)

    I'll check back in later:)

You don't sleep during a sleep study. I'm exhausted. It was irritating more than anything. The tech had to keep adjusting the mask. I kicked off my leads. Normal.

Love the kitty pictures. Sorry to hear your plans have changed over and over, Karen.
    Good luck on getting supplies.

Marie, happy to see you. I remember you talking about the reunion last year. Time flies.

We stopped for breakfast. I'm crawling into bed.

I'll think about dinner later. Much Later.

Hi! I feel you on those allergies Karen. The main reason I got lasik is because I get horrible eye allergies during the Fall (uh oh) and couldn't wear my contacts. Had to resort to those dreaded glasses. I have fun on your trip to Sam's, love that place! Cute kitty pics. :)

Hi Marie, good to see you! Sounds like another busy day :) Cool on the picnic this weekend, bet Rick will have a blast!

Tina, too bad you didn't get any sleep last night, but it's understandable! I have enough trouble sleeping in my own bed much less somewhere else, plus with people watching me. Have a good sleep :)

Went to Walmart to get a couple things I forgot at HEB the other day. I had some leftover grilled chicken from the chicken salad the other night so I made some more Buffalo Chicken Deviled Eggs since I missed out on the leftovers! allergies and get them every year (around this time of the year) so I know how you feel. One of the main reasons I got lasik is because I would get eye allergies so bad I couldn't wear my contacts and would have to put on the dreaded glasses. Hope the deer didn't eat all your persimmons! Have good I won't tell Michael about the 4 I have left in the fridge this time either :P Pulled out a whole chicken to roast and we will have baked sweet potatoes and some kind of veggie. Hi to everyone else, have a great day!

Hi Everybody! Jim's working from home today so my normal routine is off. :) Headed into town after breakfast, went to the library, did a Costco run and a ton of errands and groceries. Now I don't have to go in Saturday so that's nice. :)
Saw a bag of White Cheese curds at Costco and thought of you Tina. :)
Also...what is it these days with stuffing vegetables into everything? My goodness! Today at the grocery store I saw bagels made with vegetable bits, mango peach juice in the juice section mixed with vegetable juice and earlier this summer I accidentally picked up what I thought were mango ice bars but they also had vegetable juice snuck into them. It's a plot against us carnivores I say! :)
    Making Dahlia's
    Lemon Ricotta Cookies
this afternoon as I have a friend and her husband coming for tea tomorrow morning. And for dinner I'm going to try a new recipe I found on Pinterest.
    http://www.whitelightsonwednesday.com/2012/11/chicken-cordon-bleu/
    Not sure of sides yet.
Do you suffer from allergies every year this time Karen? Jim's allergic to ragweed and I just finished picking him up some more Allergy meds. Knock on wood I'm not allergic to anything (except broccoli and liver, brussel sprouts, cauliflower.....:)) How lucky to have a friend with a Pear tree. They are not commonly grown in Ottawa but I have seen a tree here with fruit and it was beautiful. I have never cooked or ate a persimmon. Have a fun shop at Sam's Club. Nice pics of the kitties. A.C. has a very mischievous look in his eyes even back then. :)
Good Luck on your service call Marie. The picnic on Saturday sounds fun. I remember you telling us how much fun Rick has had at it in the past.
Joce...thinking of you and hoping you're doing okay.
Sorry you didn't sleep well Tina. I wouldn't be able to in that situation either I'm sure. Hope you get a good nap in.
That's fun you made more Buffalo chicken deviled eggs Michelle. :) Your dinner sounds yummy.
    Off to make cookies.

Don't you just love not having to put contacts in after LASIK? I still sometimes reach for glasses in the morning.
So busy carting everyone around. Ugh here there and everywhere the gas is killing me.
Tonight is leftovers. We have roasted chicken, lasagna and bubble up enchalada casserole waiting to be eaten. Going to painting tonight. After I pick up Rachel from field hockey of course.

Jim and I always thought it was a bonus in only having one child that the 'taxi-ing' around was a lot less than most families Laurie! Those are some very yummy leftovers you have going on over there! Painting pottery right? Always sounds like so much fun. I really must go do that some day.

Sounds like you got a lot of running around done today Janet! Isn't it so much better than on the weekend?! I always try and avoid any and all stores on Saturdays and Sundays if possible. Lol at all the snuck in veggies at the store :) That chicken recipe looks delish!

Hi Laurie, yes it's amazing not having contacts!! My thing is at night I keep thinking that I need to take out my contacts, lol. My eyes are still so dry that in the morning I'm instantly reminded, and needing eye drops. My doctor told me I sleep with my eyes half open (how can he tell?) and that I will probably need eye drops longer than the normal person. Sorry about all your car pooling! Leftovers are the best,

I decided on a roasted chicken recipe Lemon, Rosemary, Thyme Roasted Chicken

My eyes were very dry for about a year after. I used Systane drops. But now they are fine.

Fred sleeps with one eye open all the time and it is so freaky. I didn't get a good nap. The dogs were all over me and I was kind of hungry. I didn't set up my cpap, so I was not as comfortable as I could have been. I was just too tired to get set up for sleep.
The technician was too funny last night. She said, "Don't worry about me turning on the camera, until AFTER you get wired up. We don't record you while you change." Well, that is reassuring.

Karen, sorry about the allergies. I have "knock on wood" one allergy to Sulfa drugs, otherwise, the pollen and pollution might be the only thing not bothering me.
I love persimmons, pomegranates and pears. I love pears more than apples. Fall fruits are sublime.

Marie, I hope you have a good helper day and then get to relax. Take care, sweetie.

Janet, you are too funny about the veggies being added to all kinds of foods. I love it. I like getting veggies added. I bought the freezer pops with carrot juice and tangerine. They are good. Double yum on the Lemon Ricotta cookies. You did a lot of running around today, makes me tired just to think of it.

Michelle, of all the roasted chicken recipes, I love lemon, rosemary and thyme. I wish Fred could appreciate the deliciousness of a roast bird. I'm happy you are happy with Lasik.

Laurie, oh, those days of being the family taxi driver can get old real fast. Those hours spent in the car can end up as an opportunity for some good talks. I miss those kind of chats with Olivia. Having a frig of leftovers is a very good thing.

All the dogs are circling me, like sharks around a dinghy. I don't have any treats in my pockets or any treats in the house. I think I better go check the cheese drawer.

We have cabbage rolls for supper. I got them from the butcher by the doctor's office. I've never bought them from them before, so we shall see if they are any good. They smell pretty good. Fred wants green beans. Olivia wants freezer pierogies. Not too difficult.

Project Runway is on tonight! Yeah!

    Artist: Lee Greenwood
Song: Proud To Be An American

If tomorrow all the things were gone,
I’d worked for all my life.
And I had to start again,
with just my children and my wife.

    I’d thank my lucky stars,
    to be livin here today.
‘ Cause the flag still stands for freedom,
and they can’t take that away.

And I’m proud to be an American,
where at least I know I’m free.
And I wont forget the men who died,
who gave that right to me.

    And I gladly stand up,
next to you and defend her still today.
‘ Cause there ain’t no doubt I love this land,
    God bless the USA.

Of course, Kimmer, our shared concerns for Michael and his and your contribution to our freedoms. Today is a somber day in our history and worthy of remembrance. We will never forget.

Sleep sweet, my dear friends. Dogs did not eat me. They thought about it but seemed to like the cheese stick better.

Back at last. We went to Sams in Springfield and loaded up the car. Then to Bass Pro but they did have what we wanted. So we came back and picked up the produce box, then went to Lowes for some flashing for the tool shed, then to WalMart for "a few things" which ended up to be a whole cart full, then to a sporting goods store where we bought more unscheduled stuff. Decided to stop at Arby's and get their three-cheese steak and bacon sandwiches and a coke instead of fix supper tonight. It took forever to unload the car.

We had to slow down tonight on the highway to let a young coyote move along off the road. He was barely full grown. Wayne scares one up now an them on the place of while hunting. He just stands still and lets them move on. They are usually scared of him and just want to exit stage right!

We are certain Ezra was killed by one of the many predators in this area. I think it was a fox, but that is conjecture. At least we gave him a good life. I haven't seen the neighbor cat for a while, but he comes and goes as he pleases.

It is late and I am ready to go to bed. See you tomorrow.
