Wide Awake Wednesday

  • MissouriFarmWife 7 years ago
Good morning. It is 6:00 and I am awake for the day! Aargh!

Three cats took advantage and are curling up on my lap. Mel is holding down one arm, Trouble claimed the entire lap, and Mauser snuggled against my right side. At the moment there is a lot of wriggling and jockeying for the favored position. Which changes by the moment.

It is foggy outside....forecasting 0 percent visibility this morning for the Eastern portion of the Ozark's.

We may eat out today or else fix chicken breasts that are in the refrigerator. If we decide to eat out, I must freeze them before they go bad.

    Hi to everyone.

Sounds like there's a lot of kitty love going on there this morning Karen. Not the worst way to begin your day. :) It's a little foggy here too. The snow is turning into 'gas'. Sublimation at its finest.

Jim and I will head down and do our work out in just a bit, then breakfast. Jim wants to do a few things with the flooring and then we may go out for lunch which means we won't need a big dinner.

    Wishing everyone a great day!

The fog looks like it is clearing, we had a nice rain, and Fritz earned his keep this morning. now to decide whether to clean the refrigerator or start laundry or have a second cup of coffee.... the coffee is winning. Enjoy your lunch!

Morning!! Lol at all your cats fighting over the perfect position on your lap :P :P Chicken or eating out, whichever you choose, both sound good!

Good luck with your workout Janet and enjoy your lunch out!

Going to the gym and getting in a workout is on my plan today as well, it’s been forever!! Think I’m going to make some scrambled eggs for breakfast, I need a little something before I leave. Not much else on the agenda today.

Yesterday Michael and I headed down to the Farmers Market to see what vegetable plants they had. They are only $1 there compare to the $3 at the home improvement stores. We ended up getting 10 tomato plants, 6 hot pepper plants, 4 bell pepper plants, 4 squash plants, purple basil, parsley, thyme and one other I can’t remember lol. Still would like to pick up a few things they didn’t have, like zucchini, Japanese eggplant and maybe some okra. I would love to get the garden tilled up today to start planting, but it still may be pretty sloshy from all the rain we got the other day, so we will see.

Also Bri and I went and got our passports after she got out of school. I forgot that you aren’t supposed to smile in them so Briauna wasn’t too thrilled about that lol. We both look PO’d in our pictures haha.

Not sure what dinner is yet, probably chicken or something. Last night we had Beef Stroganoff and it was very good! Wishing everyone a great day!!

Holy Vegetable plants Michelle! You're going to have a good sized garden. That's great you and Bri got your passports. It is amusing that they don't want you to smile in the photos. I haven't had Beef Stroganoff in years. Gonna go check out the recipe you made. Good luck with your work out and yum on scrambled eggs. Maybe that's what I should do today for our breakfast as well. I like to serve them on toast with ketchup on mine. :)

    Hi Michelle.

Had a couple slices of bacon for breakfast, the second cup of coffee was good, but half way through drinking it Trouble raced thru the room, flew over the half wall, and bounded over my lap, one paw in the cup. Crazy cat!

The stores don't have much in plants available here, it is still too early. I am debating starting heritage tomatoes and maybe buying a few Romas. If rhubarb survives will enjoy that. If not will plant some more. Wayne loves it. Green peppers and green beans should complete it.

Passport photos are never great! My work ID never turned out well either...I was happy when it went from possible ax murderer appearance to knife murderer, at least my drivers license photo is passable. Ha ha.

have a good day at the gym.

    Good Afternoon Everyone!

Had to get up and get the car to the dealer for service. Took a loaner car home so I'm not without transportation. Should be ready to pick up tomorrow. Having the oil changed and everything that goes with that. Also a part needs to be ordered for one of the recalls, don't understand why they couldn't have taken care of that ahead of time, and then have the outside washed and detailed (paid for a package for it when I bought the car). It was raining this morning and finally stopped.

When I came home I wanted to make some soup for lunch and found a fantastic recipe. I made so many tweeks though so I may write it up as "my own" but here is the link to the original.
    http://bellyfull.net/2017/02/15/chuck-wagon-stew/
I probably used 1/2 the amount of onion, a full pound of ground beef. no tomato paste, no fish sauce, no Worcestershire sauce, my diced tomatoes were seasoned with basil, garlic, oregano, and thyme, I used regular beef broth and 1/4 t. of Balsamic vinegar to "brighten" it, and added about 1/2 c. ditalini pasta.
    Even LD loved his portion!!

Nice way to start the day Karen ... being a "cat couch" ... I love when LD snuggles with me in the early morning. He'll wake up early and use his wee wee pads and then when he comes back to bed he snuggles in my arms.
Go Fritz!! Nice catch on the mouse.

Sounds like an easy and quite day for you Janet.

Nice score on all the plants Michelle. Happy that you got them for much less. Passport and driver license photos are the worse. I think they do it on purpose (LOL!).

No clue yet what's for dinner. I have a package of turkey and gravy in the freezer, perhaps that over noodles as it's wet and yucky out.

LOL Karen @ cat paw in coffee. A new flavour sensation. :) Love to hear all the garden chat. We can't plant anything safely for three more months yet.

Nice on your soup Linda. I'll have to go check out the link. Turkey, gravy and noodles sounds like a great idea for a wet day.

Your soup sounds fantastic LInda. Cars are a royal pain, Wayne's truck is due for an oil change after we finally got the suspension air system installed so the RV doesn't lurch when towing it. Newer trucks are automatically equipped with the system but this had to be an after market deal.

I had to remove and relocate cats .... Mel kept racing over Wayne's laptop and when I picked him up he accidentally(?) hooked a claw in my skin. I popped him lightly and put him in the back room. Just him and his litterbox. Fritz was unceremoniously placed in his crate until he stopped chasing cats. The remainder decided it was time to settle down OR ELSE.

Probably will eat at home because our Deputy Chief has an eye appt. and his eyes will be dilated. With the Chief gone it leaves Wayne and for today. So glad it rained!

Janet, the new flavor sensation did not meet with my approval. Ugh!
We cant plant for a while either but I need to prep and plant seeds for the heritage tomatoes within a few weeks. They will be transplanted outside when frost danger is over. Not that frost is likely to be a problem with summer-weather here.LOL!

Had lunch at the Lone Star.
    https://www.lonestartexasgrill.com/
Our regular Steak and Chicken Fajitas with Frozen lime Margueritas. We never order anything different when we go there. LOL. We heard today was National Marguerita Day but yesterday I saw a bunch of posts about it being Marguerita Day too so maybe every day is Marguerita Day. :)

Jim got the old carpet ripped out of the rumpus room. There were a couple of large remnants put in there. He then sealed the floor as we were getting that white dust tracking up the stairs from the concrete. Tomorrow is Day One of install. Very exciting.

Hello all. I'm here LInda. Been lurking but sometimes start to post and just fade away and decide not to. Tis my mood these days, I guess. We decided since Charlie is still somewhat up most days that we will leave him be for now. I trust my husband with this decision. He has had many a shep and he says we are letting him be for now. And being German, if hubs says leave it be.........trust me, you leave it be, lol! Charlie really does not eat much anymore but still taking water. Husband said so long as he still wants me to walk him, then he stays! And he does. Charlie is trying and fighting so hard, can't just end that. And again, hubs will know if it doesn't happen on it's own.

Made some pork chops tonight in somewhat of a cream sauce. Made some boiled potatoes and a salad to have with. Was disappointed that there wasn't that much sauce left to douse the chops in but everyone said it was delicious. So I guess that is all that counts! It did taste good, I just would have preferred more sauce, lol!

Really hope all are doing well and I am sorry that I'm not "up" on things and not replying to all.

    Sleep Sweet All.............as always................

Kimmer, when one of our cats had progressive kidney failure, he gradually slowed down eating. We knew it was "time" when he only drank water.. You will know when the time is here. Charlie will show you.

Love Fajitas, Janet. I usually have the steak fajitas, creature of habit I guess.
