Wild n Wooly Wednesday

    Good Morning!
    Happy Thnaksgiving Eve!

Today will be wild n wooly for Thanksgiving Prep, Travel, and just trying to get it all done.

TIna, I can't believe how much you've done! LOL@ the corn! So sorry to chuckle, but that just sounds exactly like something that would happen to me. The shop vac is my friend in the kitchen for mishaps like that. I was cleaning out the fridge on Sunday and found a jar of olives in the back of the bottom shelf that had been long since forgotten. Dumped them down the disposal, and when I turned it on I remembered why they'd been forgotten. They had pits in the middle!!! So yep, I sucked them out of there with the shop vac. Thank goodness it didn't wake Bryan up. ; ) Hope your prep goes more smoothly today. Thank you for the egg tips! I will try them. I didn't get to boil eggs last night. Bryan had been working in leaves and cleaning gutters all day, and was somewhat fussy because he was tired and achy. I decided to wait until he's gone so I don't have to hear the whining. lol (His whining is part kidding, but part not). I will boil eggs promptly at 615 tonight when he leaves for work. I never let them sit in the cold water for 45 minutes...I will try that.

Hi Kimmer! Glad to hear you are feeling better. Sorry you've been sick. LOL@ bears! :) I know you are missing Cayce. It's hard sharing our kids on holidays. I always had to do that, too.

Are you all having better weather in FL today? It's sunny here, but only going up to the mid-40s today, and we have possibilities of light showers possibly turning to a light snow mix overnight.

OMG on the turdcken price, Janet!! Ouch. Jason texted me to find out how to cook duck breast. They have them on sale at the new Shrimp Dock in Maryville (A "fresh" fish market...although how they can have a fresh seafood market this far inland is beyond me...lol). So I spent some time looking it up for him. He wants to try them. If he likes it, maybe I will try. lol

Well, I have CRAFT and can't think what everyone eles was talking about yesterday...so I apologize.

I guess you are prepping today, Marie. Hope you get to stop by!

Are you casserole recipe hunting, Michelle?

Joce, when will the painting be done?

Are you out hunting, Karen? I can't imagine using a bow of any kind.

    DONNA! Come back!

I didn't get to make my relish last night. Bryan ate the pineapple for lunch. By the time I found out, I was in my pjs and had taken my bridle off, and the girls were comfortably resting on my knees. Wasn't going out for pineapple. lol We may or may not have relish. Only 3 or so people that are coming eat it anyway.

Hope you all have a fantastic day! I have to start decorating the front of the office for Christmass in a few.

Have a fun day, Janet! Steak and baked taters sound good to me!!

Meant to share these Thanksgiving quotes with you.

Thanksgiving is an emotional holiday. People travel thousands of miles to be with people they only see once a year. And then discover once a year is way too often. - Johnny Carson

I come from a family where gravy is considered a beverage. ~ Erma Bombeck

I love Thanksgiving turkey… it’s the only time in Los Angeles that you see natural breasts. ~ Arnold Schwarzenegger

What we’re really talking about is a wonderful day set aside on the fourth Thursday of November when no one diets. I mean, why else would they call it Thanksgiving? ~ Erma Bombeck

My cooking is so bad my kids thought Thanksgiving was to commemorate Pearl Harbor. Phyllis Diller

Thanksgiving just gets me all warm and tingly and all kinds of wonderful inside.
    Willard Scott

My restaurants are never opened on Thanksgiving; I want my staff to spend time with their family if they can. My feeling is, if I can't figure out how to make money the rest of the year so that my workers can enjoy the holidays, then I don't deserve to be an owner.
    Michael Symon

    Good morning:)

Lori, I hear ya on the busy prep day:) Love the quotes..the Erma Bombeck quote sounds like my family!
LOL on tossing the pitted olives in the disposal! Good thinking using the shop vac!
I add some ice cubes to my hard boiled egg water..everyone has their own special way of preparing hard boiled eggs:) I sure hope those suckers peel easily this morning...:)

Hi Janet! Wishing you both a good Wednesday as well!

Well, I need to get some things done..I still need to clean the floors, dust, finish prepping the food. I usually cook the giblets the day before and tell Rick I added them to the stuffing (which I don't) I remember as a young girl picking the tiny giblets out of my stuffing before eating it..ugh:)

Have a wonderful day, don't "work" too hard in the kitchen:)

    Dinner? I don't have a clue!

    DONNA????????????

Hi Marie! Hope you get all your prep done stress-free today! LOL @ picking out the giblets, and and telling Rick you used them. That's pretty funny.

Anybody remember the tv show WKRP in Cincinatti? This Thanksgiving episode was one of the funniest ever. Here's a little clip, take 3 1/2 min out of your busy day for a good chuckle!

Yea! The eggs peeled easily! So happy:-D
Yes Lori, it is funny..but he's usually hanging around the kitchen when I'm making the stuffing so I need to divert his attention elsewhere..a good one is, "the leaves need to be blown off of the roof" that way he's on top of the house for a while and not on the inside of the house :)

Yes, I remember WKRP...I'll check out that link:)

Morning!! Cute puns Lori!! Oh no at the olives down the drain lol! When we have people over I always like to put out a cheese olive cracker tray, and one time I accidentally bought the olives with pits. My olive loving dad never let me hear the end of it lol! I always check the jars now :) Have fun decorating! LOVE all the TG quotes!!

Lol, so you boil the giblets and then throw them out Marie?? TOO FUNNY!! My Memaw makes the BEST giblet gravy...love the giblets...you can toss yours my way :)

Went to the grocery store this morning and it was actually not busy! If anything it was even better than usual which is weird. Michael is on nights, so tomorrow night his shift is cooking a big TG meal. I am making a dessert for him to take. Going to make these:

Have no clue of what's for dinner. Maybe something with chicken? Anyway, have a great day everyone :)

    Hi all.

Loved WKRP! Jennifer the mysterious receptionist was hilarious - can't recall who played the role. Between her and Les Nesman's "office" the whole setting was a hoot!

Waiting for a call from the furniture store - they are not answering their phone and we don't want to go there unless we are certain it is actually there. 120 miles one way for nothing is NOT fun. Customer service lady has gone away beyond what is expected of her job.

    Must go. Lots to do.

Hi Karen, good luck getting ahold of the furniture store!

    Good afternoon all.

Well, last pie is in the oven. Pooped out yesterday and just could not make one more. Of course if my family would all agree on one kind of pie, my life would be much easier. But no............ Will be starting the banana pudding soon. It's delightfully cool here today and for some reason the banana pudding always seems to come out better when it's cold outside. Call me crazy if you want. All that will be left after that is getting the kitchen ready to tackle Mr. Turkey tomorrow. And setting the Thanksgiving dinning table. That too is a tradition in our house going way back to my childhood. Thanksgiving and Christmas table was always set the night before. We and now my children would wake up that morning to all the sparkling of the silver, china and special glasses on the table. With cloth napkins placed just so. Well, guess what family.......this year the table will be set but you get paper plates and NO, I didn't polish the silver this year so it's regular knives and forks! Nor did I break out the china and spit shine it! Hey, at least I got lovely Thanksgiving paper plates and napkins, lol! Just couldn't do it this year. But Christmas.......ya........it will be as expected barring any more illnesses!

May not get back so wishing all of you here at ODD a delightful Thanksgiving! And a most slumberous Sleep Sweet...........after your meal..............as always.

Oh.....and for our Canadian friends who have all ready had their Thanksgiving..........a damn happy Thursday, lol!!!!! : )

What an apropos thread title Lori! LOL! You couldn't have made a better one for me today that's for sure! :) I've never owned a garbage disposal unit. I would have bet that they could have chewed through olive pits. :) As you can tell, I'm not a very good gambler. :) Brings back fond memories of a trip to California and I dropped a bottle cap or something down the garbage disposal and all of you were helping me with how to get it out. Shaking head. LOL! Had to giggle at "I will boil them (the eggs) promptly at 6:15" When 6:15 comes around I'm going to be thinking of you doing just that. LOL. Nice on Jason's duck breast. My Dad used to Duck hunt and Jim and I used to cook up a duck every once in awhile when we were first married but I haven't made one in years and years. I really like duck. LOL @ Bryan eating the pineapple for your relish. And LOL @ your Thanksgiving funnies and nice on the Thanksgiving quotes. That WRKP episode is a CLASSIC. Both Jim and I loved that show.
Marie that's hilarious you tell Rick you put the giblets in the stuffing but you don't. ROFL. You kill me. :) And doesn't he notice?
Michelle those Pumpkin Blondies look so delicous. Did you actually use cinnamon chips? I don't think I've ever seen cinnamon chips.
    Hi Karen!
Your table will look wonderful Kimmer. Wishing you a wonderful Thanksgiving. LOL @ the damn Happy Thursday.
Jim had to return his computer, phone, etc. to his office so we headed down town around 9:30. He has received so many lovely emails from people he worked with all expressing shock and sadness at his dismissal. He was mobbed by people when he went in. Took him an hour to get out. :) I was glad for him. I did a bit of Christmas shopping while he was there and managed to get a nice bag of stocking stuffers purchased. Then we went for lunch. Dim Sum down in China Town. Very nice. And I went over to the Kowloon Market and bought their wonderful little mini pork buns to bring home for a snack?/lunch?
At 2 Jim had a meeting with a Lawyer to look over his Severance pkg. That meeting went very well. Then to Lazyboy to pick up our two lamps, groceries, wine store and drugstore now home. We're both pooped. :)

Hi Karen! I don't blame you for not wanting to drive 120 miles for maybe nothing!! Riding in a car is not my thing :)

Marie, I'm still cracking up that Rick doesn't know you feed the giblets to your cats....I told Michael the story and he laughed too :P

Hi Kimmer! Oooooh banana pudding is a good one! I would have never thought to make that for a TG dessert! That's on my plans for next year now :) Pull out those paper plates and don't feel bad about it!! Have a great TG :)

Janet, I did find the cinnamon chips! I was worried about not finding them. They are good, I tried one :) Just pulled the blondies out of the oven and they smell delish. That is good to know that all those people cared so much for Jim. How sweet :) Yummmm on Dim Sum! Sounds like you had a super busy day, relax now!!

I pulled out some chicken andouille sausage which I am going to use in a big pot of beans. Think I'll throw in some spinach as well. Have the beans simmering away and they smell wonderful! Ok I'm hungry lol!

A very Happy Thanksgiving to you as well Kimmer:)

Janet, yes, he does notice the giblets are missing, but then it's too late..LOL I'm afraid I might have to put "some" giblets in the stuffing this year..he'll be right there with me in the kitchen:(
I am so glad Jim is getting the recognition he deserves..he will surely be missed at his work...I still can't believe they let him go..
I'll bet you are both pooped! What a full day!

Michelle, I adore your avatar pic..what a beautiful family:) Yum on your dinner!

    Thanks Marie :)
Could you maybe put the stuffing in the pan and then pop the giblets in only half? Or give him the bowl of giblets and he can mix them into his portion? Lol...just trying to help you out!

Hey all, I'm sitting back and enjoying a pumpkin head beer. Got home from work and I was worried the turkey they gave was not big enough. 14pounds for 12 people? Stopped at the grocery and got another 14 pounder lol the smaller ones where twice as expensive as the bigger.69 cents a pound compared to $1.99 a pound. Paid half as much for twice as much lol. So now I have two turkeys brining lol. Got home about three I made a meat sauce, stuffed shells, Wedding soup, boiled the eggs (if you add a little vinegar to the water they peel easier) two different dips and got the turkeys in their brine.
We had frozen pizza for dinner lol

OMG. I found the missing eggshell. I was just kidding when I said it was probably in the cabinet. But...it was. It was in the container I was going to put it in. I got the container out, put the egg shell in it, and put it back!!! OMG. I am going to be in a home soon at this rate. :/

iPad battery is dead so on my phone. Sure I will miss someone.

Kimmer I love banana puddin any time. One of my moms specialties. Paper plates for sure. We always have all the good stuff, too. Then spend more time cleaning up than visiting. I'm over that!!

Karen, I went online Monday afternoon and reported the Walmart incident like you suggested. They left a message Tuesday morning saying it had been reported to the store mgr and the 3rd shift mgr and would be taken care of. Of course the 3rd shift mgr is probably the guy I was complaining about, but I was impressed that they responded so quickly. Hope your furniture came.

Lol Janet. Peach pits and all that stuff will tear up a disposal. It won't grind up peanut butter, either. Trust me. ;) I'm glad Jim was so well received at work. Bless his heart. That's never a good feeling. Even if its budgetary or something else not related to your performance. Glad the severance pkg was fair. Sounds like you all had a busy day. Bryan and I never run errands any more. I asked him last night if he remrmbered when we used to go to Knoxville and do out shopping type errands then go to the brewery and maybe a movie. He said no. Lol.

    Michelle your supper sounds fantastic!

Laurie I wish I'd seen your tip earlier. I want stuffed shells, please!! Sounds yummy.

Took me one hour to peel 16 eggs. Had 3 casualties. Laurie I wish I'd seen your tip earlier. :) I used to never have problems peeling them. I bought them last week, left them in ice water. Idk. I guess it's just one of those skills my senile brain can't remember how to do. Lol.

I'm too pooped to pop so think I'll turn in.

    Night all!

On the IPad so typing is iffy and battery down to ten percent.
We are back and furniture is in the truck all boxed up. We will unload it when we can. Traffic coming out of Springfield was terrible. We dawdled around at SAMs after grapping a bite of supper, which took long enough to ease the TG combined with rush hour traffic.

Finally the store was contacted ---- no idea why they were not answering their phones. But we picked it up and put a tarp over the boxes and a "net" over the tarp. We had two inches of snow which is now gone. So pretty.

Have. A wonderful Thanksgiving! And a happy Thursday in Canada.
