About me
Second-gen American of Eastern European heritage, transplanted to rural Belarus as a result of marrying a guy I met while visiting relatives here. Love to play in the kitchen, cookbooks and cooking shows are my porn. ;) Down-home Eastern European cuisine is my idea of soul food, but my menu is very eclectic. Husband would probably eat cardboard if I served it with enough mayonnaise, but he likes my "foreign" dishes and in general appreciates any of my efforts. Rachael Ray would be me if she had Eastern European roots and cooked from scratch...

Glad you enjoyed the spanish rice recipe! I've been using brown rice w/it lately, and that takes longer to cook, and doesn't quite come out as soft... but I think I'm getting the hang of it. It's almost just as good as when I make it w/jasmine or other white rice.


You're quite welcome -- I really don't know what she was going on about. If she'd bothered to read your profile information she would have known her comments were ridiculous. I was delighted to find the group and your recipes because my maternal relatives are from that general area and there are a lot of specialties I remember fondly from my childhood but never learned to make because the ladies who prepared them for me are long gone. So please keep posting them!


It's me again Beldujour! Wow, what can I say but THANK YOU! It was very kind of you to take the time to post your comments on the Cheese Cake From Grandma Or Sernik Babci recipe. I don't understand people like Stanislawa but I'm sure glad I don't have their rude personality or disposition. I truly appreciate your thoughtfulness. I hope you enjoy this group and remember, not everyone is like Stanislawa and thank goodness for that.

Hi Beldujour! Thank you for your comments regarding Stanislawa's unnecessary and rude comments on the Babci And Dziadzio Company Cake recipe. This type of cake was very popular and I honestly don't know what their problem is. Oh well, it takes all types ;) Thanks again Beldujour for being supportive and welcome to the group!

My mother has slow-baked her chicken after frying it for as long as I can remember - my husband swears it is the best fried chicken ever, ALWAYS so moist and flavorful. Great
