About me
I became an old man a couple of years ago. It happened overnight, I swear. I have always grilled but over the last fifteen years, thanks to my beautiful and wonderful wife, I have expanded my horizons a bit. As it turned out it is a good thing. My wife has cancer now and I do most of the cooking. I have to be a little careful about what I make for her, not because she is a picky eater...she has a very compromised immune system and I have to avoid any raw fruits or veggies and undercooked meats, eggs, etc. She loves VERY hot and spicy foods as do I but at times she has inflammation and sores in her mouth and most everything hurts. She is also lactose intolerant and she can't smell anything. (sometimes that isn't a bad thing :) We grow chile peppers, make our own seasonings and sauces and we do like it hot. I like most everything but Indian food. I have tried it several times and I always end up leaving it on the plate. We eat more boneless, skinless chicken breasts than anyone should. Hey, I'm trying to hang around for her. I am always looking for something different to do with chicken. I really need to expand my horizons, don't you think? I make a seasoning/dry rub that became so popular with friends and family that I started selling it. I have it in a dozen NC cities as well as SC, Florida and Arizona. Because of the cancer I don't have much time to devote to that. Wish someone would help me with a website. I can be incredibly dumb in some respects. Would love to be friends with everyone here...regardless of your culinary tastes or venue. I am Ray, the crusty ol curmudgeon in Carolina.
