About me
I don't really know what to put here. *L* I'm 51, married blissfully for almost 29 years. I'm a registered nurse who has had way more than enough of what medical care has become and no longer work as an RN. I was born and raised in southern West Virginia and have lived on a farm in southwestern Virginia for the last 30 years. I grew up around great cooks of all kinds. My mother was raised in the coal country of West Virginia and grew up with a great influence of European cooking of all kinds especially Italian and eastern European, along with depression era American home cooking, canning and preserving foods. I have always loved to cook and my husband and I have paid dearly for it over the years. We are currently working hard to get off some of the weight and I stumbled onto this site looking for some light dishes. You'll find from most of my submissions that I don't have many of those! LOL But we still eat well and I love sharing recipes that we love and that have been passed down over the years. I have cookbooks that belonged to both of my grandmothers with many handwritten entries from THEIR mothers. So, if you are interested in some older recipes or just some things that I've concocted on my own over the years I hope you'll stop by and see what I have put up. When winter comes to the mountains here, I spend a LOT of time on the net and hope to get a lot of these classic recipes out for another generation. I'm very comfortable cooking and love to try new things and change them around, many times making my husband comment that nothing I fix tastes quite the same every time. I take that as a compliment. I am NOT a baker. I don't have the patience for the precise measurements that baking from scratch entails. I do make bread, biscuits and corn bread often, but rarely attempt any baking more complicated than that. Thanks for stopping by and I hope you enjoy trying some of my recipes when they sound good to you. Oh, and in case it's not obvious, I collect blue willow china *S*
