About me
I decieded a few years ago that if I was going to have to prepare meals for my family three times daily, seven days a week that I might as well learn to enjoy it rather than view it as daily torture. Although I still have days where the last thing I feel like doing is cooking, they are few and far between. I grew up in a house where my mother made everything from scratch and was a very adventerous cook--especially for the time. My father would cook "gourmet" meals every Sunday night and thus my siblings and I were never raised among regular fare type foods. My children have also been raised to try different dishes and as such are lovers of sushi, lentil stew , curries and of course the occasional box of KD. I hope to instill in them a spirited palate, as I believe that an open minded appetite is the first step to a life long habit of good, quality healthful eating. It is my goal to use mostly organic, locally produced food when preparing meals for my family--within budgetary constraints as we have four kids! I love a good glass of wine with my weekend meals, and am trying to learn more about appropriate pairings
