About me
A fortysomething fine foods fan who's been known to munch on the occasional toasted hot-dog or slice of cheap pizza, my culinary tastes are broad; I enjoy everything from exotic and spicy South and Southeast Asian foods to Mediterranean cuisine to European meat-and-potato staples. I worked as a restaurant cook in my twenties and early thirties. This is an experience that very nearly killed my culinary curiosity and creativity. Luckily, both survived. I now work as a community mental health counsellor, an occupation better suited to my introspective nature and more in line with my desire for a deeper connection to other people. Like my culinary tastes, my tastes in cultural delights are wide and eclectic; I enjoy reading (very nearly a lost art), writing, video games, and films. I'm also an inveterate audiophile. This world would be a far, far dimmer place for me were it not for the balm of delicious foods and the soothing salve of music. I joined this site partly out of convenience (just got tired, I guess, of having to pour through my extensive collection of cookbooks whenever chow-making time came around) and partly out of curiosity. Already, I've seen (stumbled upon?) many more recipes here than I can ever hope to have the time to try. But, try I will! :-)
