About me
Growing up in an Italian-American family ensured my food obsession. After graduating college, I lived with my parents for a year and developed an interest in making delicious concoctions out of their pantry contents. I immersed myself in contemporary cookbooks, worked at Williams-Sonoma for the holiday season and what you have is the amateur chef before you today. My two great loves are pasta and sweets. I'm on a strict nutrition regimen 90% of the time, but when that free day rolls around, watch out! I mainly go for breakfast and baked good comfort food recipes I find on sites such as this and look for ways to make them more sophisticated. As far as pasta goes, I'll make just about anything that doesn't involve the ubiquitous "red sauce". I'm also a huge chocolate fanatic and love making cakes. I'm weird. If I cook anything good in the near future, I'll put it up.

I can see in the foods that you like that we have some things in common.. Pasta, sweets and chocolate...Williams-Sonoma!! Italian family, Wow! ME TOO! Like you, I grew up eating lots of red sauce too! And like you again, I grew very tired of the red sauce and have ventured out into other ways of preparing pasta. Of coarse for me this has been ongoing for many years, as I am in my forties. Initially, I cooked all of the traditional red sauce recipes that my mom, dad and grandmother taught me. But...as time went on, I did begin to teach myself other pasta dishes that did not mainly consist of red sauce. Any way, I'm from New York, but have grown up here in South Carolina due to a job change my dad had when I was 12. He's now retired, but was a pastry chef from some of New York's finest restaurants, and bakeries. Now you can why I too have a tooth for all things sweet...especially chocolate! He's been teaching me the fine art of baking for several years now, and just as in childhood, we still crank-out a few pasta dishes several times a month!
Sorry to ramble, but it was really neat to read about the foods you were interested in because they are so much like mine! How about cheesecake? It's second only to chocolate desserts for me. Cheesecakes have been my main focus though, as in the beginning, they posed quite a challenge to me. So, I'm working on perfecting my Cheesecake skills.
I hope you'll share some recipes with me, and I'll post some that hopefully you will enjoy as well.
