Hi Dona :)
No, I am not Greek (but my first boyfriend was, thus the nick-name :) My best friend (when I was a young girl) was Northern Italian, and another one (later as I grew up) was from Sicily. My first husband was French-Canadian, and my second is Scottish. But, I was born to Dutch-Canadian / British - American parents, and raised by Irish-Canadian parents! I guess I am as international as anyone else, these days!! :D
And, I love to learn all about the different cooking cultures of the world!!

Hi Dona.Thank you for the invite.Believe me it is not important the real origin of Baklawa;Although most opinions say that the Assyrians were the first to make it,what is really important is that Baklawa is a so delicious dessert that all these people are debating and discussing of it's origin and they all claim it belongs to them.Baklawa is known everywhere around the world,in the U.S,Europe and middle East of course. That means it has many different versions and I am sure they are all good.By the way,in Egypt some people call it GULLASH,so is it a Greek word too??
