About me
I was a cultured California chick who happily turned manure mucking farmgirl back in 1994. I now live on a 240-acre remote Missouri farm with sheep, chickens, two dogs, seven cats, an adorable donkey named Dan, and one very well fed farmguy. I'm a passionate bread baker, and we're slowly building a small wholesale artisan bread bakery on our farm. I share my Less Fuss, More Flavor approach to comfort food, seasonal eating, & organic kitchen gardening, along with stories and photos about my crazy country life at FarmgirlFare.com and InMyKitchenGarden.com.

Good morning,I just wanted to drop you a quick note to tell you I baked your oatmeal toasting bread yesterday and it was stellar! We are already on the second loaf. I tried another recipe off the internet a couple of days before and my children looked at me like what did they do to deserve that!It was awful. I have tried many of your recipes and I just want to say thank you. The worst is when you try a new recipe with "wonderful reviews" and as it ends up in the compost,I say to myself, do any of these reviewers have any taste buds? I have NEVER had that problem when I try one of yours.I really do appreciate your hard work in posting all your recipes on farmgirlfare and to let you know there is a Mom in CT who is thankful.
P.S. I added 1/2 c flax seed to the oatmeal toasting bread recipe and it turned out yummy.

Thanks for the heads up on Heidi's recipe for Heart Castle Shortbread. We've correct that recipe to point over to 101cookbooks.

Hi, thanks for being my cooking buddy.

Hi,farmgirl. Just wanted you to know that I love your blog - especially the beautiful pictures. I discovered it months ago when it was listed on some site (can't remember where) and I loved the name so I stopped by. It is bookmarked in my favorites.

Hi Holly,
The bran muffins are probably best with that cup of oat bran, but I'm sure you could successfully substitute something else. My first thought is a cup of old-fashioned oats whizzed in the blender for a few seconds--not so long that they become powdery like flour, though. You could also try an extra cup of wheat bran--or maybe 1/2 cup wheat bran and 1/2 cup whole wheat flour. If you do make a version without the oat bran, I'd love to hear about it.

Hi everybody else,
So glad you are all enjoying Group Recipes. Is this a fantastic site or what?

Hi Farmgirl,
Just a quick question.... I am dying to make your bran muffin recipe (from your farmgirlfare.com) I keep forgetting to buy the oat bran when I am at the store, can anything else be substituted or is this a key ingredient?

If she doesn't post it, go to her blog and try her recipe for scones! It's a favorite of mine and those lucky enough to have warranted a share.

Thanks for the link on your blog Farmgirl! (I'm one of the many who read - I think I've only posted a comment once or twice) This is gonna be fun!
