About me
Hi all! Serial Bachelors really need to know how to cook in 'interesting ways' with basic ingredients unless they want to either starve ( Been there ) or live out of a local restaurant! ;-) While I have had a couple of favorite restaurants in my time.. I tend to move every couple of years and finding a place up to ( or is that 'down to'? ) my tastes is not very easy. Ohhh.. but there was a Portuguese Restaurant in Hamilton... ohhhh..... sooo gooood! And I don't even eat seafood much! ( But the Rabbit... roasted and served on a bed of roasted potato wedges SWIMMING in butter! Mmmmm! ) I like high impact food. So that's why I consider my cooking 'Down Home Goblin Style'! Lots of it is half Asian, half Arabic... spicy and savory, or spicy and a little sweet. I also have a ton of food background in old English style family cooking.. Bangers and mash... several recipes for Yorkshire Pudding.... ohhhh.. and ' Porcupines'! Mmmmm.... Porcupines! Best food to come out of a pressure cooker... but I want to come up with a slow-cooker version so I can enjoy the smell all day long! My 'Big Dream' at the moment is my super secret ultra uberspecial project called ' Kaiju Gyoza'! Roughly translated as ' Monster Dumplings'! Delicious and healthy food, made out of normal ingredients, but assembled and cooked to LOOK like some sort of monster.. or PART of a monster! Don't ask why... I've dreamed of this for years... having a layered 'Roast' on the table that includes all the basic food groups that ANYONE would eat.... but looks like some sort of prehistoric sea creature.... and tastes great! ( Actually.. it has to do with the fact that I like to throw parties... with a twist... and a monster themed one ALWAYS goes surprisingly well! ) I Made a 'Dragons Egg' Chinese dinner once that featured an object made out of stacked smoked Mennonite pork chops, layered with a stuffing, wrapped ( to egg shape ) with boneless chicken breasts and coated with a varriant of the stuffing, then baked till cooked and ' shellified' on the outside! 4 different types of breadcrumbs, almonds ground to powder... that was a good stuffing/crust indeed! So yeah.. that's me. That's 'Goblin cooking'. I also refry Kraft dinner with various sets of spices and sauces when there isn't time for big meals... and most peanut butter sandwiches automatically turn into Satay... so don't expect too much in the way of 'class' from me! ;-) Keep well everyone, and good eating!
