Hey Hogbert, my great-grandma came over here from Sweden in 1864 - she lived to be 98, thanks to good old hearty Scandinavian stock! I make krumkake every Christmas, but we have lost so many of our other Scandinavian heritage traditions along the way (dip-in-the-kettle, fattigmans, sandbakels, homemade Swedish potato sausage to name just a few). Are Kransekake the same thing as krumkake? With the similarity in the name, I'm thinking it is. My uncle owned a Scandinavian import shop in Spokane called The Big Norwegian (he was 6'6")...I still love shopping at places like that - my mother had a similar shop in our home back in the 60's/70's (The Viking Shop - not very original!), so my house is full of Scandinavian imports...no blonde hair and blue eyes for me though - I took after my father's Welsh heritage!
