Thanks for checkin it out. Right you are. Until about five or six years ago the mince was blah. Things in that area have improved a lot, if you know where to shop. When I have Charlie's lads butcher a beef I have them set aside all the scraps for dog food and we use decent beef for mince. Very nice. Range beef is tough and mince is one option. You can buy sour cream here now. Sometimes I buy it and sometimes I make it. Keep on sailing and keep on cookin. Why not join us on the food talk group.

Thanks for your comment. I'm so happy that it brings back good memories for you. I grew up on the east coast, very, very cold.

Yeah, I was in New Orleans much of the early 1970's. late 1960's. Just driving down some streets would evoke some incredible hunger pains. The city had food everywhere. I must say I indulged more than once. My first memories were the Jim Dandy Fried Chicken Restaurants and it was cheap chicken and very good. Royal Castle Hamburgers Chain was a great place for a late night burger after a late night of bar hopping. My favorite was the buck 49 steak house on Bourbon St. , You could actually get a steak for 1.49, a good place for a broke Sailor to get a tasty meal.
I have been at Café Dumonde in the French Quarter at 300 in the morning for beignets and a cup of milk with very little coffee in it.
I hope you enjoy making the beignets. Keep in mind Wal-mart used to sell a mix to make these, but not sure if they still do.
    Thanks for the memories.

I do pickles (3 or 4 kinds) a couple times a year. This looks great and is on the list for my next "pickle day". Thanks.

Many thanks. I'll do that tomorrow. Sounds great. I have thought about ordering some of this stuff, and checked it out, but the shipping, and duty make it really expensive. I'll have a look though.

Thanks for stoppin by. It's good to be back. Miss the old site but life goes on. The pies are a fair bit of work but they are the best I've ever had, & I've had a few. Suzy is a really great cook. Enjoy. I really miss sailing. Thirty years a sailor and now on the beach. Merde.
