People are ADDICTED to iwannabachef's recipes!
It's been awhile since I've updated this. I'm still in school, getting my AS in Culinary Arts and I've decided against trying to be a Chef and a Nurse (LOL), instead I will be going to Cal Poly to get my BS in Nutrition Science concentrating on Dietetics so that I can become a RD (Registered Dietitian)... Annnyway, on 6/16/12 I decided to switch to a plant-based diet and I love it!! So while I may still cook some non-vegan (plant based) foods because I'm in school, most of my posts from this time forward will be vegan.
I hope is enjoying their holidays...
I'm originally from Philly (Pa) but I've been in Southern California since 1993. I am a single Mom to two beautiful children, CJ (15) and Naomi (20 months). (My name is Ruthie btw) ;)
When I was a little girl I loved to watch Julia Childs on Saturday mornings, I would run to the kitchen when she was making something that looked good and try and make them myself. A story that my Mom likes to tell is when I ran downstairs, and by memory, made these almost perfect blueberry muffins, one problem though, I used rye flour instead of white.. lol!! My Father was the only one to try them and he ate every one. :)
I have just recently started cooking again, I had forgotten how much I enjoyed creating meals, with children and work I just got so sidetracked and used to picking food up because I was so tired. Now, you couldn't pay me to get "fast food" and when we do go out, I'm trying to taste my way through the meal so that I can recreate it with my own twist! I've decided to go to Culinary school in the Spring and embark on a new career in Catering, I'm so excited!!
I love to cook for my family and friends, food is such a wonderful way to express both creativiting and love!!
I'd love to share my recipes and find new ones here.. if you have any questions, please feel free to drop me a line.
Happy Cooking and Eating!!

I'm having a hard time with uploading pictures to this site, it doesn't give me an error but the photos are not showing up, and I generally take pictures of everything that I cook.. If you're interested in seeing a picture of the recipe and it's not on here, please check them out at http://photobucket.com/iwannabachef
I just created a group there to share photos and recipes.. :)
Wow, I haven't been on this site in awhile! So much has happened!! My son Adrian, who is now 15 months old, was born on 11/22/09, three months early. He was only 2lbs 1oz and had to stay in the NICU for the first 62 days of his life. He is a living miracle and he's already taught me so much!!! I am so blessed, all three of my children are miracles!! Thank you God!
Also, I've been back in school for three semesters now, I am a double major (crazy!) going for my RN (got my VN back in '96) and minoring in Culinary Arts (my passion)...
Life is too short to regret things, every experience makes us who we are at this moment and helps us to make the next moment even better!
