About me
I'm a homeschooling mom of 5 kids, 2 of whom have allergies to foods I love but can now cook without (milk, eggs, peanuts, some tree nuts). My family's experience with dealing with allergies has led me on a journey that has allowed me to learn a lot more about the foods that we eat, and all that label reading has caused me to switch away from most processed foods towards more natural options - grass-fed and pastured meats and poultry, organic fruits and veggies, less-processed foods (although I admit to eating fast-food occasionally too). I have been cooking since I was 7 yrs old and still love it! My favorite foods are Greek, Mexican, and Cajun, and I love home-baked breads and sweet treats too!

I haven't tried it without the rye flour. Give it a try!


Hope you will like the baked scallops and mushroom dish. It is also very good if you substitute shrimp for the scallops.


Thanks for your comment about my stuffed mushroom recipe. If you make it add some cooked chopped bacon to it as I did this the last time I made them which was for Thanksgiving and I will continue to add the bacon.


I think it's interesting that most of the whole-foods tagged foodies have someone with allergies in their families. Maybe that's the reason for switching to unprocessed. I have 3 kids who've had an allergy/intolerance to milk until around age one or a little later. It made me have to modify my diet, but I'm glad they've grown out of it. I still like to cook healthy, as I always did before. The less chemicals and processing, the better.

Carrot-pineapple Snacking
Decided to make these in my new silicon cupcake moulds. Used mixture of wholewheat and plain white flour. Came out well, but very stodgey. Nice flavours, but I think all white
