About me
Food: I love grilling and cooking with an iron skillet. I grew up in Buffalo, which is a terrific town for ethnic food, and my mother was (still is) a pretty good cook, so I decided that if I like to eat I need to learn to cook. I'll eat just about anything; I don't think I have prejudices againt any type of food, except for liver, tripe and brains. Favorites are Chinese, Japanese, Greek, Italian, Cajun/Creole. Specialties include jambalaya, chili, grilled chicken and pork chops, chicken wings, pad thai, souvlaki, risotto. I find I'll read six recipes for the same thing, and then combine elements that I like. I also have no problem cooking with canned mushroom soup. I also brew beer. Now that the kids are all gone (daughter married, son off to college), I need to find more recipes that are quick and good for two, but also some good and interesting stuff for the weekends. Other interests: tech, music, attending sporting events (hockey, baseball, football and the occasional NASCAR). I love to read, but read more newspapers and magazines than books.
