Currently lovin' Seasonal foods, right now: string beans of any kind, red and yellow peppers, pumpkin, turnip, any kind of deer, wild boar, fish, chicken, still pasta, cheese, seafood of any kind, potatoes, anything satisfying. i miss the summer but also enjoy sitting in front of the openn fire, enjoying our company. it does help getting over this dark period in the year to have a fire in the hearth in the dining and living room. flames..wonderful - as long as only the wood is burning and not the house :-).

About me
I am the 62 year old proud mother of a son (36), a very proud grandmother of a grandson (3) and adore my daughter-in-law (27) who loves not just my cooking :-) i have been married twice - once to an American, once to a German - and found out that i like it better living at home - but do miss people and places in the States. i have worked and studied in england, the usa and germany, both on the technical as well as on the medical side, have been very active in communal politics, been director of a theatre group, an association to further the renovation of old buildings, founded and run a company with my former (yes, no. 2,) husband, translated a book on medical research - and now enjoy early retirement, my grandson, entertaining friends and family, cooking, reading, travel and some sports. i've been living in this medium sized town in germany, close to Frankfurt for the past ten years - the town is about 1400 years old (no, not all buildings :-) but there still are some remains from the romans who were here in the first century!), has a beautiful town centre with lovely old houses, some movie theatres, we get cabaret, theatre, concerts...really, a lovely place to be. not quite country - and not big city either which i dont like any more. and i used to live in London and New York - you'd never believe it *gg* Friends and family are crazy about my cooking - and i AM JUST PLAIN CRAZY :-) love to cook, enjoy having guests, love to try out things in the kitchen especially in our so-called dreary winters in this part of Germany. oh, by the way - i make a really mean margarita! ah yes - those of you who 'know' me will see that i've changed my tune about rather living alone - i have met a wonderful man (and this at my age *gg*) who is making me realize how wonderful it is to have a 'significant other'.!!I I AM SORRY NOT TO BE HERE LATELY AS I AM WORKING ON A COOKBOOK FOR MY FRIENDS. BUT I WILL BE BACK!

Thanks for accepting my invite Renate, hope you enjoyed you're vacation. Look forward to trying and sharing recipes with you, Denny

Renate thanks so much for your wonderful comment on the syllabub. And the rating too. Where do I find the old recipes. Hmmm Mostly on the web, some from very old books,( not always cook books) I love to read and come across some. Then when I am home schooling and Rome or England comes up for instancel it starts me thinking about recipes for that country and the old ones are so interesting.
Thanks again

Victoria

Thanks for stopping by!

Thanks for the lovely comment on my Gumbo Yaya recipe! If you show up on my doorstep we'll have a cooking party together! Come on over!

Good Morning Renate,I had to smile when I read your comment, when I was a little boy I had a set of pots and pans and bakeware
that was child size also. I still remember pulling a stepstoool up to the counter and my Mother and GrandMother teaching me the finer points of cooking. I am sure that when your Grandson is older he will look back at his days in your Kitchen with the same foundness and love as I do. Bobby
