About me
Hello! I'm an old hand at baking but new to cooking since my hubby used to be the family chef. He now works too much and I've had to put on my chef hat and figure out some basic kitchen how-to. I plan on slowly but surely posting all of my mother's wonderful recipes on this site, though I'm not sure her sources so I apologize if they are published somewhere and credit is not given where credit is due!

You can actually leave the mushrooms and onions in the pan, too, and make a sticky ugly mess of "roux" with them still in it, but, as a beginner, I think you made the right call cus it mighta looked "wrong" to you if you aren't familiar with this way of cooking...and I'm sorry I missed the half and half step...I didn't notice :(...and, the dish was meant to be uncovered, so good call, there. I'm so proud of you for tryin' somethin' like those, being a newcomer to cooking! If I can ever help out with anything, please let me know. :)
