Currently lovin' Tried and true dishes and heritage/family recipes. I like trying foods and cooking processes that are new to me. My mother's family is Irish & Cherokee - and my father's family is English & Italian. I am in the process of gathering family recipes from both sides of my family and compiling them into a collection to share with my family.

About me
I grew up surrounded by some strong Southern cooks, including my mother and grandmother, who were patient teachers and always delighted in having me in the kitchen with them. They taught me about food and the gift of preparing meals for those you love. As such, to me food is all about love, celebration, family, home and belonging. Food evokes memories. Food brings people together. Food is sensual; it appeals to all the senses. Cooking is therapeutic for me. Cooking is a passion. Cooking is fun. ~ I work in revenue/finance by day and spend my other hours celebrating the things I care about: reading, music, movies, college football and basketball, baseball, cooking, co-cooking and my boyfriend, friends and family. ~ I am originally from East TN (near Chattanooga) and graduated from the University of TN (go Vols!). I have lived in Central Florida for almost 12 years and have no children. I was married once upon a time in a galaxy far, far away, but have been divorced for about 13 years. I love growing herbs and working on my house and in my yard. I am having a lot of fun and doing things I've always wanted to do and trying new things as I find them. Life is good....enjoy it. ~ Vickie

Your pictures are really beautiful. You have a knack for showing your food to its best advantage. I think I have a lot to learn from you. This is my first day on line at this site and it is a bit overwhelming. Hope to hear from you.

I'm officially your neighbor now!

Hey girl - wanted to drop by and see what's cookin'!

Hi Vickie, there is a new troll (as if we didn't have enough) called jaxxos. Watch out for this person. I am asking a few of my friends to visit Chefmeow's Apricot Almond Coffeecake recipe and leave a nice comment, just to get this guy's filth off the page. Thanks!

Susan

Hi, do you have any recipes for people like me with Interstitial Cystitis that are yummy? I'm getting desperate...the foods I have to eat are so bland and when I eat normal foods I have flare ups. Please help me, I would be sooooo GRATEFUL!

Hello, remember me? I know it's been a while but I have a steady online tool now so you'll be seeing my mug here more often. I took a gander at your lasagna recipe because I've been meaning to get back on the horse, so to speak. I have issues with making lasagna....it's a long story but I've been psychologically scarred towards making it and it's something I need to get over. And so, I'm going to adapt your recipe that you got from Emeril to start this healing process, if you don't mind. I'll be sure to post all the results here and let you know how it turned out. Thanks a bunch and take care!
