Clear gel is sort of like cornstarch, it just works better for canning. Cornstarch will separate after a while. You can still use it though. I get my clear gel at a place called the prepardness store in a big # 10 can. If you use cornstarch you can just use the same amount. Hope that helps, good luck to you.
