About me
A friend tells me I need to put something in the about you section of this page, so here goes…I traveled extensively for the Air Force, I toured Scotts Hut in Antarctica and climbed the leaning tower in Pizza, made Big Ben’s acquaintance. I was once charged $40 for a 5 cent taxi ride. Ron White tells a joke about not knowing how many it would have taken to take him down but knowing how many they were prepared to use, been there. I am married with children (read that as you will) I have two daughters and a grand daughter and a grand son. For a couple of years I helped move some of the most dangerous people in the world from point A to point B. They were in chains. We referred to it as “A long haul to the county” I saw one foodie that has commented on his numerous near death experiences (three or four) So I thought I would throw this in, you might get a giggle out of it. I know what my last words will be (ok word) and since I tend to look at this as a “G” rated site (at lest for language) I won’t repeat it here. I was a cop in the AF for many years, and one of our duties was to rattle door knobs after duty hours. During that process if you found a door that was unlocked you searched the building and called someone to lock the door if you could not lock up your self. So late one night I found a door unsecured and called it in to dispatch, I then started my search, I found all the other doors locked, except the door to the credit union. (bummer) I called dispatch again, opened the door with my left hand and pushed my way into the room at the same time flipping on the light switch. Out of the corner of my eye standing to my left was a tall civilian holding a rifle. I said ****, drew on him and turned to engage. By the time I got my pistol even with his belt buckle my eyes reached his face. I realized that I was drawing on John Wayne (well a life sized cardboard cut out of him), So I can say with an almost straight face that I beat John Wayne to the draw. I really like to cook and enjoy cooking most anything. Right now it is BBQ. Traveling gave me a passion for other foods I was and am willing to try almost anything. Asian, South American, and European you name it I’m up for it. I once had to eat bugs (the big black ants taste like lemon drops and grasshoppers taste like white chocolate) Ever eat cat? How about dog? I went to a party in the Philippines once and the first words out of the hosts mouth was “Do you eat dog?” If you can get the idea out of your head of chasing a Cocker spaniel down with a club it’s not bad. Poor mans’ venison, or more accurately venison for the hunting impaired. Don’t get me wrong I’m not advocating treating yourself to your neighbor’s pug, no matter how much you don’t like it digging up your roses. Always willing to make new friends and have met some fine ones so far. I thought I would put in a section for frequently asked (well once or twice) asked questions to help you get to know me better. 1. Q: Why Mark555 A: It is a little less evil then 666 2. Q: Why do you use Elmer Fudd? A: We have a lot in common, we are successful hunters, and before you ask, I don’t know where your dog is. Also we both have the same speech impediment, it crops up on some of my responses. For instance; “The wain in Spain falls mainly on the plain.” We both wear the same hat size… well after some of the praise some of my recipes get anyway. 3. Q: You mention Al Bundy (married with children) Is there a similarity between the two of you? A: Of course not, Al is a shoe salesman and works in the mall, granted we both have two children, but I have two girls. My wife is not named Peg, but as you can see by the posted picture they both have red hair. Speaking of which she kept her maiden name, she is not a 555 she would be more a 444 or at worst a 554 if you get confused refer to question #1. 4. Q: Are you really an ordained minister? A. Yes, Seminary was extremely demanding. I think that alcohol was involved and a tear out post card in a Rolling Stone Magazine. The cost was truly astronomical. Just how much did it cost to send a post card in 1988? Now the church is computerized and you can do it on line. If you can think of any more questions that you might have I will be happy to try and answer them. Thought I would throw in a picture of the wife and kids. Lura with out wings, and the girls look a lot like dad. As you may guess from some of my posted recipes I don’t take things too seriously. Or maybe it is safer to say that I don’t take my self too seriously.
