Hi Marshamellow. Saw your post on nopales. They are the stem of the young prickly pear cactus (cut thin minus the prickers), tart, and, like okra, have a jellylike consistency. Fresh are the best, lacking those there are dried and canned (the canned are ok). Gives a whole new flavor to different dishes. You can find them in many Mexican/Latin markets. Interesting to work with. Had them in a dessert form once as well as a pork dish. As I said interesting (mouth feel) but very pleasing. Hate to coin a phrase but, Try it you'll like it!
