About me
When I cook the recipes I grew up with and my family loves, I never measure. Fact is after I have made a recipe, unless it is something that requires strict measurements, such as baking, I do not measure. Just add a little of this, a little of that, whatever taste good. This summer my oldest grandangel was here for a visit and was asking for all her favorites. She helped in the kitchen and was suprised I never measured anything. Tay ask how she was suppose to learn to cook these dishes without recipes? (She does not live close, so she can not be in my kitchen as often as we would both like. Once a year, generally.) Soooo...I guess it is time to start measuring and writing for my grandangels. I helped put together a cook book some years ago and a few family favorites are in there but, Tay’s favorite, “Mee-Maw’s Soup” is not included in the cookbook. Nor one of my family's favorite, Mee-Maw's Spaghetti w/meatballs. Boy, I have some work ahead of me!! I remember my mom standing beside my Memaw and measuring as Memaw mixed the rolls she was famous for making. It is the only way we could get a recipe and even though it is as close as we can get to the recipe and they taste great---something is still missing---I think it is Memaw.
