    Actually I am making it right now, but it will NOT get hard for the life of me!! I've been steaming for quite some time now with the top a little open and on low heat. It's getting a BIT thicker... man it smells good and also looks a lot like the flan in manga/anime! But the caramel sauce gets hard VERY quickly so I don't know if I will be able to pop it out of the tea cup..

    And also mjcmcook, do not use plastic, use porcelin.

    Not sure if this is too late..but I made it :)

    I was a total beginner in making Flan, so the first time it came out like a poached egg. I tried to make it again, and it came out like a poached egg, then I made it another time and it finally came out alright. I learned the hard way to slowly blend the egg and not to whip it. (whipping causes bubbles to foam and holes in Flan. YUCK!)

    As for the caramel sauce, it was quite hard to make it with only 3 tsp of sugar and 1 tsp of water. I put about 8 tsp of sugar and 2 tsp of water and waited until it was brown and poured into the teacups. So a 8:2 ratio.

    I used regular ceramic teacups. I wouldn't want to make this again, the hassle of changing the temperature every few minutes really confuses me. So I would pass on this recipe and create a regular flan in the oven but I would invite anyone to try it out :)
