I'm a new vegan (with modifications), after some years of Zone-ish diet. Hubby recently diagnosed with a medical condition which led us in this direction; otherwise he's an enviably healthy and fit 58-year-old. I am interested in
the healthful aspects of cooking, but tastiness is just as important to me. I am interested only in Vegan recipes, plus fish, and NO sugar (or minimal.) "Vegan with modifications" meaning: vegetables, grains, legumes -- especially protein-rich Tempeh, Tofu, and beans. Fish is good! But no eggs, no dairy products, no meat, and no sugar, please. I'm a pretty experienced cook, so I'm "intermediate". I have ulcerative colitis, which is doing better on my new Vegan diet! I tried the specific carbohydrate diet (you IBD people know what this is) but it didn't do much for me. I like well-spiced food. I've been making recipes from Veganomicon and Madhur Jaffrey's World of the East Vegetarian Cooking, both cookbooks are great!
