Hi! Your recipes look Awesome! I just stopped by to see if you would like to visit me sometime over at the group called Frugal Pantry Cooker. You will find great ideas for cooking simple, frugal, tasty meals. I would love to get some of your ideas for substitutions in recipes. With your knowledge of food, I bet you will be invaluable! It is frustrating trying to find things I was used to down there. Like the green box of elbow macaroni called Cremettes. I found them at a gas station of all places, but it was a very tiny box, & sold at gas station prices. So we've learned to try different brands, shapes, & what not. We've found one that's not elbow(they just don't match up to the cremettes) just normal penne pasta, and use that for alot of things. Thankfully family will mail us certain things once or twice a year.
My dad says the dinner(lunch)/supper(evening) thing. I say both, but to me supper is the evening meal, even though I've been known to call it dinner. I know what you mean about not knowing when to start the meal. Like right now, my husband just called to say he's only made it so far in 45 minutes, because of something, he hasn't seen an accident or anything, and normally it only takes him that 45 minutes to get home from work. So it is hard to know when to get things started. Thank goodness my oven has a warming drawer, I love it, and have used it a few times. (Sorry about the length of this, I tend to like to type/talk)

I'm a very frugal shopper. In fact I hate grocery shopping days only because of the money I see leaving the bank account. My husband laughs at how tight I am.(he should be thankful) The only thing I'm known to spend good money on is Ribeyes. We finally found some really good ones at a meat locker. Alaska isn't really known for good beef cattle like we were used to in the midwest. That was a tough adjustment, love my steaks!

No fancy eating here either. My daughter always looks forward to a "gourmet meal" when Dad's gone on business. And it's not that he doesn't like Mac & Cheese/hot dogs, I think it's just the idea of telling her Dad, we ate it. Most times we have what's called "pigs in a blanket" hot dogs/cheese wrapped in crescent roll dough! Those take me back to the days when my mom would use slices of bread instead, boy did the bread get hard!
